Urban Martial Saint

The thin and fat pair stood at the door of the ward, and the remaining seven or eight people outside didn’t dare to rush in anymore, because they all knew very well that charging in would inevitably lead to disadvantage.

”Damn it, kill them for me, kill them!” Flathead barked loudly, but no one dared to move forward anymore.

A man whispered, ”Big brother, these two are really good at fighting. Just guarding the door, all of us put together are still no use. If we continue to fight like this, we’ll probably suffer even more losses. Maybe we should go back and think of some other plan!”

Flathead looked at his subordinates rolling on the ground, screaming in pain, feeling deeply frustrated. Usually, he strutted around Xishan City unchallenged, with no one daring to provoke him. When had it ever been his turn to be bullied by others? Yet today, he had brought so many men to the hospital, only to be blocked by two people, and that was a total loss of face for him.

”You two bastards, remember this— I certainly won’t let you off!” Flathead cursed angrily, and with his men, he turned tail and ran. He truly didn’t dare to linger around here anymore.

Seeing Flathead and his men leaving, the fat man and the skinny man also let out a sigh of relief. Although they weren’t injured while defending the door, it had still been quite an exertion of energy. If the fight had continued, they wouldn’t have been able to hold on much longer!

The fat man turned around and smiled at Old Wang Ba, ”Eighth Master, it’s all clear now!”

But Old Wang Ba’s brows were deeply furrowed as he said in a grave tone, ”All clear? You two need to be careful. Tonight won’t be this simple!”

Flathead led his men out of the hospital in a rather embarrassing retreat. He had his men wait in an alley nearby while he walked into a coffee shop by himself.

There weren’t many people in the coffee shop. Flathead entered a private room in which there were seven or eight people, most of them clad in police uniforms. Among them was a couple who seemed very intimate; it was none other than Zhou Guiting’s husband, Zhang Jun, accompanied by Lu Jiangong’s only daughter, Lu Xiaoli.

Lu Xiaoli was quite ordinary-looking, but she used a lot of makeup to cover her facial blemishes. Especially her foundation; it made her face so unnaturally pale, looking almost ghostly, that it seemed like her face powder might fall off with any smile she gave. The over-applied cosmetics not only did not enhance her looks but instead made her ordinary face even more off-putting.

Zhang Jun, though, was quite handsome. Tall, with a dashing face, he was the main reason Lu Xiaoli was attracted to him. The way the two sat close together had the air of a romance seen in idol dramas. Of course, one would have to overlook Lu Xiaoli’s face which, if seen, would turn it into a horror show.

Seeing Zhang Jun and Lu Xiaoli behave so intimately, Flathead’s eyes flashed with a hint of ridicule, but he kept his face expressionless.

”Captain Zhang, there’s been trouble!” said Flathead quietly as he looked at Zhang Jun. ”The other side has two experts. They’re really strong, and we just couldn’t break through!”

”What?” Zhang Jun immediately looked up, glaring at Flathead, ”Fourth Brother, over twenty men can’t beat two? Is that the kind of men you have under you? If you’re all such trash, I don’t think you can survive in Xishan City!”

Flathead was seething inside, thinking, ”Damn it, if not for Lu Jiangong, who the hell are you to point fingers at me? Bastard, no one has managed to leech off women to such a shameless extent like you!”

Although Flathead cursed inwardly, he didn’t dare show the slightest discontent on his face, and quickly said, ”Captain Zhang, those two men are truly strange. They blocked the doorway and injured over a dozen of my brothers, five or six of them had their tendons cut. Their actions were too damn ruthless!”

”Shit, instead of admitting your own incompetence, you say the others are fierce!” Zhang Jun said angrily. ”I don’t even know what sort of skill Zhou Guiting, that cheap woman, could have. She comes from a poor background with no powerful connections; where would she find two fierce men to help her?”

”Junzi, why don’t you go take a look?” asked Zhang Xia from the opposite side, ”That young man did seem to be good at fighting tonight, maybe he really does have some skills. Junzi, you need to avenge me personally. That bastard, to hit me in front of so many people, is simply disrespecting the Zhang family members!”

As Zhang Xia spoke, she glanced at Lu Xiaoli, flattering, ”Xiaoli dear, now all of Xishan City knows about the love between you and Junzi. That bastard dared to hit me, he’s not just disrespecting me but also ignoring you outright!”

On hearing this, Lu Xiaoli immediately got angry, standing up, ”Let’s go check it out. I refuse to believe what this wench can do!”

Zhang Jun really didn’t want to see Zhou Guiting, but with Lu Xiaoli insisting, he had no choice but to follow.

Flathead followed at their side, whispering, ”Captain Zhang, you have to be careful. Those two are quite weird; make sure you don’t suffer a loss!”

Zhang Jun arrogantly patted the gun at his waist, ”What good is being weird? No matter how good he can fight, can he beat a gun?”

Flathead immediately shut up, knowing that if Zhang Jun really used his gun, the fat man and the skinny man would be nothing to worry about.

Meanwhile, Ye Qing had already rushed to his mother’s former residence with Zhou Binglin. The old house hadn’t been lived in for a while, and dust covered many areas. Thankfully, there was nothing valuable in the house to steal, and Zhou Binglin easily found the Blood Letter.

Ye Qing took one look at the Blood Letter, which revealed Zhou Guiting’s identity. What caught his attention the most were the three words at the end of the letter: Chen Xueru.

At that moment, Ye Qing’s body shook with a surge of emotion. The thing he had hoped for the most had finally happened. Zhou Guiting, she truly was Liu Changping’s daughter. This was just too good!

Seeing Ye Qing standing frozen on the spot, Zhou Binglin asked curiously, ”So, what’s the verdict? It proves that Zhou Guiting isn’t our child, right? We don’t have to pay anything now, do we?”

”No need, definitely no need,” Ye Qing glanced at Zhou Binglin and said, ”Mr. Zhou, remember what you said. From now on, Zhou Guiting has absolutely no relation to the Zhou family anymore, right?”

”That’s right, exactly like that!” Zhou Binglin said outright, ”Whether she’s dead or alive, it has nothing to do with our Zhou family!”

”What if she becomes successful one day?” Ye Qing asked.

Zhou Binglin was taken aback for a moment, then scoffed, ”Her, successful? Dream on! What has she got to be successful for, she hardly went to school, she can only farm. How’s she going to succeed? Go crazy, that I can believe!”

”I’m just asking, if she becomes successful in the future, will she still have nothing to do with you?” Ye Qing pressed.

”Rich or poor, it has nothing to do with us, nothing at all!” Zhou Binglin insisted, waving his hand to emphasize his unwavering stance.

”That’s good to hear!” Ye Qing packed away the blood letter and decisively left the old house.

”Successful?” Zhou Binglin snorted derisively, ”Broom Star thinks she can succeed? Unless she’s the Emperor’s daughter, she can forget it!”

Ye Qing walked to the roadside and found a secluded spot to call Liu Changping.

The phone was answered before it even rang once—it seemed that Liu Changping had been on standby by the phone these days.

”Uncle Liu, it’s me!” Ye Qing said.

On the other side, Liu Changping’s breathing became a bit more hurried, ”How’s it going? Any news?”

”Yes!” Ye Qing said, ”I’ve found some witnesses who confirmed that Chen Xueru really did give birth to a daughter. And, I’ve found that child, as well as the blood letter Chen Xueru wrote with her own hand!”

There was silence on Liu Changping’s end for a while, as if he was both excited and shocked by the news.

”How is she... how is she doing now?” Liu Changping’s voice trembled noticeably, his emotions must have been very intense.

”Not good!” Ye Qing said, ”She’s currently in the hospital being resuscitated, her injuries are serious. The key point is, her life is still in danger, and her husband, in collusion with the police and the underworld, wants to put her in the land of death!”

”Who dares!” Liu Changping thundered, his voice filled with boundless authority. Even through the phone, Ye Qing could feel his anger and the unquestionable power in his voice!

”Uncle Liu, if there’s any way you could, please try to intervene and deal with this matter. Also, it’s best not to contact the police. The police in Xishan City can’t be trusted. The officer who is after her is the son-in-law of the Deputy Director of the City Bureau!” Ye Qing advised.

”Which hospital is she in now?” Liu Changping asked.

”The Third Municipal Hospital!” Ye Qing replied.

”Take care of her for me, I’m on my way now!” Liu Changping paused briefly, then said, ”Ye Qing, regardless of whether she’s my daughter or not, take care of her for me, and I’ll owe you a favor.”

”I hope she really is your daughter. What matters to me isn’t the favor, but finding someone she can rely on, ensuring that she and her mother no longer have to worry about their future—that’s what’s crucial!” Ye Qing said, ”Rest assured, no matter what, I won’t let anything happen to them!”

”Thank you!” After Liu Changping finished speaking, he hung up and turned to look at the middle-aged beauty sitting beside him—his wife, Xie Wanqing.

”Found her?” Xie Wanqing looked somewhat excited as well.

Liu Changping nodded, then sighed, ”Wanqing, I have a feeling that she is my daughter. I’m sorry, I only told you about the past recently!”

”I should be the one apologizing!” Xie Wanqing shook her head gently, ”She should have been your wife, I’m just someone who came later. Besides, I haven’t been able to give you children. No matter whose child she is, I will treat her as my own!”

As she spoke, Xie Wanqing gently patted Liu Changping’s hand, ”Go, bring our child home. From today on, our family won’t be just the two of us anymore. We’ll have a daughter, and a granddaughter too!”

Liu Changping’s eyes moistened, he stood up and said, ”I will definitely bring them back!”

After getting dressed, Liu Changping called his driver to prepare the car, ready to head for Xishan City.

”Which car should I prepare?” the driver inquired.

After a moment of thought, Liu Changping answered, ”The Number One car!”
