”Brother, thank you!” Ye Qing nodded at the young doctor, saying, ”What’s your name?”

”I helped her, not for thanks. I just can’t stand these people!” The young doctor glared angrily at the Zhang family members and said, ”Damn it, what are you looking at? What, you want to trouble me later? Let me tell you, my name is Fang Yiming, come at me if you dare, I’m not scared of you all!”

After speaking, the young doctor didn’t even turn his head as he walked out of the ward. Whether he would regret his passionate outburst after leaving the ward, no one knew. However, this might very well be the best decision he had made in his life!

Ye Qing sat in the ward, with the chaos still raging outside, but he could faintly hear an angry voice.

”You bandaged them? You even applied medicine? What the fuck are you doing? Didn’t you hear me talking? Do you want to quit your job? Let me tell you, you don’t need to come to work tomorrow. Get out now, damn it, what salary, you haven’t even worked a full month, what salary do you expect?”

The standoff at the hospital continued for over two hours, and it was almost dawn. Nearly half of Xishan City’s police force gathered at the hospital. However, with Lu Xiaoli in Ye Qing’s hands, no one dared to make a rash move. Lu Jiangong stood at the door, spouting various threats, but Ye Qing ignored him completely, only making the situation more severe.

With such a serious incident occurring, Municipal Police Chief Kong Anwu had yet to show up. However, Lu Jiangong had no time to worry about him now, with all his attention focused on the hospital. This incident was not only about his daughter’s safety but also crucially linked to his own crimes. If Ye Qing was not dealt with this time, his own downfall was inevitable.

Lu Jiangong had called in the armed police, and if his daughter hadn’t been inside, he would have already ordered them to storm in. But now, with his daughter under Ye Qing’s control, he could only shout and negotiate from outside. One moment he would threaten Ye Qing, the next he would ask Ye Qing to make demands, claiming the police would meet all of his requirements. Yet, Ye Qing hadn’t engaged with him from the beginning to the end!

Ye Qing was simply buying time, so why would he negotiate with him?

As Lu Jiangong was fretting and wondering how to storm in to save his daughter, a police officer rushed over, urgently saying, ”Director Lu, we just received news, Kong Anwu has gone to the highway exit...”

Lu Jiangong glared fiercely, shouting, ”Fuck off, can’t you see I’m busy? Delay all messages, what could be more important than my daughter? What about Kong Anwu? What if he went to the highway exit? Can’t you fucking prioritize?”

The police officer was so startled that he swallowed his remaining words.

Lu Jiangong didn’t dwell on this matter and continued to ponder how to break into the room and save his daughter. Meanwhile, at the highway exit, something was quietly unfolding.

At midnight, the provincial police department’s car number one exited Xishan City’s highway. Municipal Police Chief Kong Anwu, who had been waiting on the sidelines, immediately went to greet it, but the car did not stop an inch and drove past him as if he wasn’t seen at all.

Kong Anwu’s complexion instantly turned pale, and anxiety welled up inside him. After all, as the Municipal Police Chief of Xishan City, the car number one should have stopped out of courtesy, if not to greet him. But now that it drove straight past him without giving him any face, it was a serious affront.

With a heavy heart, Kong Anwu didn’t dare to call Liu Changping’s secretary to ask, and could only order the driver to follow the provincial department’s convoy.

The car number one entered Xishan City and went straight for the hospital, which was currently the center of activity. Many reporters were gathered around, and half of the city’s police was concentrated around the hospital, which was practically encircled by the police.

The car number one didn’t care about the people surrounding it and headed directly for the hospital entrance. However, before reaching the main entrance, it was intercepted by several police officers, among them a chubby officer who pointed at the car, angrily saying, ”Damn it, are you blind? Didn’t you see this place is blocked off, and you’re crashing in?”

This chubby officer was courting death, not recognizing the provincial department’s car number one and even cursing at it. Was he not tired of living?

The car number one stopped, and before the people inside could get out, Municipal Police Chief Kong Anwu came tumbling over. He smacked the chubby officer twice without explanation, angrily rebuking, ”Motherfucker, are you blind? Don’t you recognize this car?”

The chubby officer had taken a couple of hits and wanted to explode in anger, but upon realizing that the man in front of him was Kong Anwu, his temper instantly vanished. Although Kong Anwu was pressed down by several deputy chiefs in Wuxi Shan City’s police world, he was still the chief. Dealing with a little team leader like him was as simple as sneezing, right?

”Director Kong, I...” The chubby officer tried to explain, but he was already dragged away by the people accompanying Kong Anwu.

Kong Anwu personally cleared the way, welcoming the provincial department’s vehicles into the hospital. The chubby officer watched on, dumbstruck, his face showing a mix of fear and bewilderment, and it took a long time before he trembled, ”Whose... whose car is that?”

The chubby officer truly didn’t recognize the car, but a car that could get the chief to personally clear the way, how could it be simple?

A policeman beside him said gleefully, ”You don’t even recognize the Provincial Police Department’s No. 1 car. You damn well deserve those two slaps!”

”The Provincial Department’s No. 1 car!?” The fat man widened his eyes, and his body started to shudder. After a long while, he finally spoke with a trembling voice, ”The person inside... inside... could it... could it be...”

He was no longer able to utter the name, and what remained was him muttering to himself over and over again.

However, not long after the Provincial Department’s No. 1 car had passed by, several more cars followed closely behind. This time, without Kong Anwu leading, a few policemen at the door tried to stop the cars. Then, a person got out of the second car, pointed at the surrounding policemen, and started cursing, ”Motherfucker, are you all blind? You don’t even look at the license plates before you stop them, what kind of police are you?”

This person was very imposing, and the few policemen were scolded into retreat. Still not satisfied, the man cursed a few more times before following the cars into the hospital courtyard. As these cars entered, the sound of motorcycles came from a distance. Everyone turned their heads to look, and saw rows of army green trucks approaching from afar. Each truck bore the license plate of Xishan City Military District!

The military’s trucks have come too!?

Everyone around was stunned. After not too long, someone exclaimed, ”That person just now... that person wasn’t the Municipal Military Department Chief, was he?”

Lu Jiangong was still unaware of the events unfolding outside; he was currently planning his final threat, holding up the microphone and loudly saying, ”I’ll give you one more chance. If you release the hostage now, we will deal with you leniently. If you remain deluded, we’ll have no choice but to storm in. At that point, for a ruthless bandit like you, we have the right to kill you on the spot. This is your last chance. I advise you to give up resisting and surrender. As long as you surrender, I can promise you that I will plead for you with the judge!”

Inside the room, Lu Xiaoli bit her teeth and, despite the pain, put on an arrogant stance as she said in a deep voice, ”You’ve already angered my dad. You better release me quickly. Otherwise, even if you manage to escape today, there will be no place for you in this world!”

”I’ve seen people brag, but I’ve never seen someone who can boast as much as you.” Ye Qing sighed, shaking his head, ”Hysterical woman, you think too highly of your dad, don’t you?”

”Even though Xiaoli’s father is only the Deputy Chief of the Municipal Police, he has the power of a Chief. You’ve got guts, but didn’t you bother to find out anyone’s identity or background before you acted recklessly?” Zhang Jun said coldly, ”I guarantee you’re going to have an ugly death!”

”Enough, both of you shut up. What, wasn’t the beating from earlier enough for you?” Ye Qing waved his fist, and both of them immediately shut up.

Ye Qing turned his head to look at the little girl who sat beside the bed, holding Zhou Guiting’s hands tightly, and silently calculated the time in his heart. By reason, even if Liu Changping had to come from Dongzhou, he should have arrived by now, so why was there still no movement?

Just then, there was a sudden commotion outside the hospital room. Lu Jiangong, already in a bad mood, heard the disturbance and furiously cursed, ”What’s going on? What is it? Didn’t I say no talking allowed, what the hell are you all doing?”

No one answered, and everyone turned their heads to look towards the corridor. Lu Jiangong looked that way as well, and the first person he saw was Director Kong Anwu. Lu Jiangong snorted coldly, thinking: Even if you, Kong Anwu, have come, what can you do? I will not give you face!

However, upon seeing the person next to Kong Anwu, Lu Jiangong’s mind went blank for nearly two seconds. Because there, standing beside Kong Anwu, was Provincial Police Department Director Liu Changping!

It was only then that Lu Jiangong realized why there was such a commotion, and he could not help but feel immense regret, unsure if the Director had heard his earlier outburst. He did not dare to hesitate and hurriedly greeted him, urgently saying, ”So it’s Director Liu...”

No one paid attention to him; Liu Changping and his entourage treated Lu Jiangong as if he were invisible, walking straight past him.

Lu Jiangong immediately felt a chill in his heart: could it be that these two were dissatisfied with him?

A few Deputy Chiefs nearby also recognized the arrivals, their expressions changing dramatically as they hurriedly approached. However, Liu Changping’s gaze did not sweep over them as he headed straight for the hospital room.

Seeing him approach the hospital room, Lu Jiangong hurriedly followed, urgently saying, ”Director Liu, the bandit inside is very ferocious. For safety, it’s best not to get close right now; we are about to resolve this situation soon!”

Liu Changping did not appreciate Lu Jiangong’s well-intended warning and instead glared at him fiercely, barking, ”Get out of the way!”

”Ah?” Lu Jiangong was stunned. Hearing the words ’get out of the way’ from the Director meant extreme dissatisfaction towards him!
