Urban Martial Saint

”Really?” Fang Yiming was overjoyed, saying, ”Ye, you... you actually know Divine Doctor Lin. I... I attended the same school as Divine Doctor Lin, but I was his junior by a few years. You have no idea; East Province Medical University is full of legends about Divine Doctor Lin. When I first started university, my biggest dream was to meet Divine Doctor Lin. Ye, that... whenever you’re free, could you introduce me if I go to Shenchuan City? I... I really want to ask him some questions!”

Ye Qing hadn’t expected the name of Lin Tianyou to be so influential in the medical community; it seems that the moniker ”Divine Doctor Lin Tianyou of Eastern Province” was not unfounded. Watching Fang Yiming’s excited fanboy demeanor, Ye Qing smiled and said, ”That’s definitely no problem. As long as you go there, I can help arrange it for you. And speaking of which, the two of you actually have similar characters and are almost identical in personality. You’d definitely become good friends!”

”Really? Really?” Fang Yiming danced with excitement, Ye Qing’s promise thrilling him even more than his meeting with Shao Yihua the previous night.

His girlfriend Xiao Man, standing beside him, couldn’t help but cover her mouth and giggle, turning to Ye Qing and saying, ”Ye, don’t laugh at him. That’s just the way he is; Divine Doctor Lin has always been his biggest idol in life.”

Old Wang Ba leaned back against a pillow and said, ”That’s pretty good, loving what you do. You’re a doctor; if your idol were a singer, could you still be a good doctor?”

”That’s correct!” Ye Qing nodded. Although Old Wang Ba was unreliable, the occasional remarks he made could be quite reasonable.

After spending a while at Old Wang Ba’s place that morning, Ye Qing then went to the traffic police team to retrieve his car, which was still impounded at the traffic police station.

With more confidence during this trip to the traffic police team, Lin Dade set his tricycle aside and got ready to follow Ye Qing inside to claim the car. However, as soon as they arrived at the main entrance, they were stopped by Old Man Zhang, the gatekeeper.

”What’s the matter? What’s the matter?” Old Man Zhang still had that supercilious look, mainly because he saw Lin Dade with Ye Qing. Knowing Lin Dade was a poor man, he didn’t pay any attention to Ye Qing either.

”Uncle Zhang, we’re here to get my car,” Lin Dade said with a habitual smile.

”What car retrieval? Do you have the paperwork? Have you made an appointment?” Old Man Zhang didn’t even glance at Lin Dade and said, ”No appointment, and you think you can just walk in? Do you think this is your home’s toilet?”

Ye Qing frowned, having thought that retrieving his car today would have been quick and smooth. It seems that last night’s commotion hadn’t affected the traffic police team at all. The cops in Xishan City were still the same as before!

Lin Dade felt embarrassed and said, ”Uncle Zhang, let me introduce you; this gentleman is a friend of Director Liu from the Dong Province Police Department. Can you perhaps make an exception?”

”What Director Liu, what Director Li, don’t feed me these useless lines!” Old Man Zhang said impatiently, ”Also, Police Department director? Go and get that whatever director to come see me personally. If he comes, I’ll let you in, how about that?”

The old man had no idea that Ye Qing really knew Liu Changping, so his words were very impolite and even somewhat offensive.

Lin Dade furrowed his brow, and although he had become more assertive, his lifelong gentle nature left him at a loss on how to express anger. He could only look towards Ye and said quietly, ”Young Brother Ye, shall we contact Director Liu and have him sort this out?”

For such a small matter, Ye Qing really didn’t want to trouble Liu Changping. However, he hadn’t expected that, despite the major shake-up in Xishan City’s police system the previous night, the traffic police team remained so brazen and arrogant. This was beyond expectations.

Just as Ye Qing was about to contact Liu Changping, a police car suddenly drove out from behind and stopped right at the entrance of the traffic police station. A man in his thirties or forties in police uniform got out of the car, hurried over to Ye Qing with a smile, and asked, ”Mr. Ye, what are you busy with here?”

Ye Qing glanced at the man; he had some recollection of him. This person was one of the few who had accompanied Kong Anwu last night and was likely one of Kong Anwu’s confidants. Unexpectedly, he showed up right at this moment, and it seemed that involving Liu Changping wouldn’t be necessary after all.

Ye Qing said, ”My car has been impounded, and I’m here to claim it. However, I am unfamiliar with Xishan City’s regulations, and I didn’t know I needed an appointment to enter the traffic police station. Now, I can’t even get through the gate!”

The man’s brow furrowed immediately, and he walked over to Old Man Zhang, angrily demanding, ”What’s going on here?”

Seeing the police badge on the man’s shoulder, Old Man Zhang realized that this was someone he couldn’t afford to provoke, and his expression changed at once.

”Mis... misunderstanding, it’s all a misunderstanding...” Old Man Zhang hastily stepped aside, offering an awkward smile, ”I... I was just joking with them, no harm done, no harm, nothing to worry about. This is a traffic police station, a place for the public to come and handle affairs, why wouldn’t we let people in?”

The man glared and said, ”This is a public office, where anyone should be free to enter and handle their business. Let me tell you, I will thoroughly investigate this matter. If you’re indeed blocking the public from coming in to conduct their affairs, then it won’t be just about you losing your job; you’ll be waiting for legal punishment!”

Old Man Zhang was stunned, asking, ”Isn’t... isn’t that a bit too serious?”

The man said, ”Hmph, this can be considered dereliction of duty. Tell me if that’s serious or not?”

Old Man Zhang’s eyes widened in shock, his mouth agape, not knowing what to say anymore. Meanwhile, the man hurried over to Ye Qing, smiling apologetically, ”Mr. Ye, I am truly sorry about this. We will definitely investigate this matter thoroughly. If it is indeed his fault, we will handle it seriously and ensure that you receive a satisfactory answer!”

Ye Qing said, ”I may not come back to Xishan City in the future. You as police officers should not be doing this just for me, but for all the citizens!”

”Yes, yes, you are absolutely right!” The man nodded hurriedly, showing great respect for Ye Qing.

In fact, his presence here at this time was arranged by Kong Anwu. Kong Anwu wasn’t a fool; he could tell Liu Changping and Zhou Bolong both thought highly of Ye Qing, so he couldn’t afford to take Ye Qing lightly. To prevent Ye Qing from encountering any more unexpected situations, he had specifically assigned a team to follow Ye Qing at all times. This man was the leader of that team, and it just so happened that he arrived here and encountered this situation.

The man followed Ye Qing and Lin Dade into the traffic police brigade. The situation here was still the same as before; the hall was filled with the angry voices of the traffic police, as if the citizens who came for their services owed them money.

Hearing the voices in the hall, the man frowned and was about to step forward to stop them when Ye Qing suddenly pulled him back.

”Let’s watch for a bit longer,” Ye Qing said as he walked straight to the same woman from last time and asked to collect his vehicle again.

”It’s you again!” The woman glared at Ye Qing with an irritated expression and asked, ”Where’s the record of violations?”

Ye Qing replied, ”I don’t have it.”

”You’re here to die!” the woman glared and exclaimed, ”Didn’t I tell you last time? Print out the record of violations and then come here to sort it out. Are you deaf? Didn’t you hear what I said?”

The man, listening to such an exchange from behind, immediately looked extremely displeased. He had never been inside the traffic police brigade and had no idea that the place that dealt most closely with the public had such appalling service attitudes.

Just as he was about to speak, Ye Qing gestured with his hand to indicate he should not come forward.

Ye Qing walked to another side and asked another person to start checking for traffic violations. Again, he received a barrage of abuse, implying, weren’t you acting all high and mighty last time, saying you didn’t want your car back? What are you back here for now?

”Is this your service attitude?” Ye Qing asked once more, his voice stern.

”You motherfucker, looking to die, aren’t you!” The traffic officer immediately slammed his hands on the desk, and several other traffic police officers quickly surrounded Ye Qing, looking as if they were about to beat him up.

Ye Qing shrugged his shoulders towards the man behind him, who immediately came forward, angrily exclaiming, ”What’s going on here? What are you trying to do? Are you looking to rebel?”

The group of traffic police turned around to see a man in a police uniform approaching, and they all looked somewhat surprised. However, they weren’t very scared; one of them glanced at the man and asked, ”Which unit are you from?”

”Xishan City Police Bureau, Criminal Investigation Squadron Captain Chen Chunyang!” the man replied coldly.

Hearing this position, the traffic police finally became nervous because they knew someone in this position was not to be messed with.

One traffic officer said, ”Captain Chen, this is a matter for the traffic police brigade; what is this...”

”What about it being a matter for the traffic police brigade?” Chen Chunyang glared back, ”With this kind of service attitude from you guys, I’m telling you, effective immediately, all of you are relieved of your duties!”

Everyone in the hall looked over, and all the traffic police gathered around. One of the leaders among them looked at Chen Chunyang and said, ”Captain Chen, is this gentleman a friend of yours? Ah, why didn’t you mention it earlier? It’s like a flood has hit the Dragon King Temple. Come on, return the man’s car to him. Captain Chen, we are truly sorry. Your friend didn’t mention your name; this whole thing is just a misunderstanding.”

Chen Chunyang gave him a glance and asked, ”And you are?”

The leader smiled, ”My name is Hao Yong, the director of this office hall.”

”Perfect,” Chen Chunyang said, ”This afternoon, you and everyone from this office hall will go to the city bureau to process your suspension, and no one is to be absent!”

The traffic police began clamoring all of a sudden, and Hao Yong’s complexion changed as he said, ”Captain Chen, we are all colleagues here, why make a big fuss out of this? Besides, our traffic police brigade is different from your criminal investigation squad; the matters here are not for criminal investigation to intervene. Also, the affairs here have always been managed by Deputy Director Lu Jiangong. This incident, what do you think, should we report this to Deputy Director Lu first?”
