Urban Martial Saint

Kong Anwu watched Lu Jiangong coldly, yet Lu sat casually beside the table as if nothing was concerning him. This matter related to his daughter and also to his own affairs, so he naturally had to muster his strength to carry on. Besides, in the police department of Xishan City, there really wasn’t anything that could stump Lu Jiangong. Kong Anwu wanting to suppress him was absolutely impossible!

The meeting had by this point fallen into an awkward silence. Just as Kong Anwu hesitated whether to pursue this matter further, the door to the conference room opened, and Secretary Xiao Li entered, whispering a word into Kong Anwu’s ear.

Hearing this, Kong Anwu’s expression changed dramatically, and he slammed the table, saying, ”Meeting adjourned!”

Without even speaking to the deputy chiefs, Kong Anwu left the conference room directly. The deputy chiefs were left astonished, looking at each other, wanting to know what had happened, but no one had the answer.

”Who cares what he does!” another deputy chief, Zhou Tong, laughed, ”Once Kong Anwu’s term is over, it’s a done deal that Big Brother Lu will take over as chief. The way he is now, could he even fly to the sky!”

This statement immediately caused a burst of laughter among those around, but Lu Jiangong’s mind was still on the matter at hand, and he stood up with a smile, saying, ”Gentlemen, I have some matters to attend to first. Once I’m done here, let’s have a few drinks together!”

Kong Anwu knew how these people would talk about him behind his back, but he didn’t have time to deal with these things now. Back in his office, Kong Anwu himself closed the door, then looked at Secretary Xiao Li and said solemnly, ”What you said, is it... is it true?”

”It’s true!” Xiao Li nodded, saying, ”Verified information, forty minutes ago. The number one car of the Provincial Police Department has already taken the highway, and according to the route, there’s a seventy percent chance it’s headed for our Xishan City!”

Before Xiao Li could finish speaking, the phone beside them rang again. Kong Anwu picked up the phone, and a familiar voice came through—it was an old classmate of Kong Anwu’s, who now worked in the office of the Eastern Province Military Region, and they were close friends.

”Old classmate, how come you have time to call me?” Kong Anwu laughed.

”What, can’t I call you if I’m busy?” his classmate responded laughingly, then continued, ”No more nonsense, I have something serious to tell you.”

”Oh? What is it?” Kong Anwu asked.

His classmate said, ”Forty minutes ago, the number one car of the Provincial Military Region hit the highway. Old Chen, the driver, has a good relationship with me, and he said that this time the destination is Xishan City. Buddy, you’d better arrange a reception for the chief!”

”What?” Kong Anwu’s eyes widened.

”What indeed; I’ve only told you this news. Don’t say your old classmate didn’t look out for you. You know about Commander Zhou’s relationship with Director Liu; this is an opportunity!” his classmate laughed, ”Alright, I won’t keep you, go arrange it quickly. If you manage to turn this successfully back to the province, don’t forget to treat me to a meal!”

Hanging up the phone, Kong Anwu was still in shock. First the Provincial Police Department’s number one car, and then the Eastern Province Military Region’s number one car; what exactly were these provincial leaders up to?

The number one car, what did that signify? Only the number one leader would use the number one car for travel!

Could it be that both the Department Head and the Military Region Commander were coming to Xishan City simultaneously? But why would both top leaders come here at the same time?

Sitting in silence in his chair for a while, Kong Anwu suddenly stood up and declared, ”Seal the news, don’t let anyone know. Arrange the cars, I’ll personally receive them, and remember to keep it low key, especially do not let Lu Jiangong and his people know about this!”

”Yes!” Secretary Xiao Li nodded solemnly. He was brought in by Kong Anwu and was a true confidant, earning Kong Anwu’s full trust. Kong Anwu felt reassured to delegate tasks to him.

Watching Secretary Xiao Li leave the room, Kong Anwu’s expression gradually became grave. Having scrambled through political strife for so many years, he was well aware of what it signified when a number one leader made a tour without notifying the local authority.

Director Liu Changping, who oversaw the entire Eastern Province Police Department, was the top figure of the Eastern Province Police Department. It was both reasonable and appropriate for him to notify the local authority of his visit. However, this time Liu Changping not only failed to notify him but also arrived so unexpectedly that it indicated Liu Changping had grievances with him.

Kong Anwu had been in Xishan City for years and he knew that he had achieved nothing significant. It was normal for Liu Changping to be dissatisfied with him. However, he couldn’t understand why Liu Changping would come without any notification even if he was so dissatisfied. Thus, the only explanation Kong Anwu could think of was that Liu Changping was dissatisfied with the entire police system of Xishan City. This time, Liu Changping traveling in the number one car without informing the locals was a signal that there would be a major purge within the Xishan City police system!

Kong Anwu was conflicted. During his years in Xishan City, he had been almost a figurehead. He also wanted Liu Changping to clean up the place. However, he was well aware that if Liu Changping dealt with the entire Xishan City police system, even if he could survive this ordeal, it was unlikely that he would be reused in the future. Of course, compared to Lu Jiangong and his people, his fate would definitely be much better.

After pondering for a long time, Kong Anwu finally sighed, saying with a hint of self-mockery, ”Well, it’s good that I can return to the province. Sitting idle on my own, as long as I can pull down all these parasites, it will also be a contribution to Xishan City!”

When Kong Anwu parachuted into Xishan City, Liu Changping actually had high hopes for him. However, he failed to manage the police system in Xishan City and actually felt quite guilty about it.

After resolving this internal conflict, Kong Anwu’s mind suddenly recalled another matter: It was one thing for Liu Changping to be making rounds, but why had the East Province Military Region Commander-in-Chief, Zhou Bolong, also come along? Moreover, Zhou Bolong was also in the military region’s number one vehicle. With the top leaders of two departments from the province on tour at the same time, the situation was even more baffling.

The military situation being different from the police system, Zhou Bolong definitely wasn’t here to deal with military affairs. Furthermore, Zhou Bolong had a close friendship with Liu Changping. With both of them touring together, Zhou Bolong was almost certainly here out of friendship to lend a hand.

Kong Anwu’s heart skipped a beat as he suddenly had a bold thought: Had Liu Changping come down this time to handle some private matter? Otherwise, why would Commander Zhou also be following him?

This thought made Kong Anwu’s heart pound, knowing Liu Changping’s character—private matters were never flamboyant. What exactly had happened this time?

At that moment, Secretary Xiao Li came in and said, ”Boss, the car is ready. Shall we go now?”

Kong Anwu nodded, stood up, and followed Secretary Xiao Li out, heading first to the highway entrance. Secretary Xiao Li had also called in a team of police from the local sub-bureau, who were some of Kong Anwu’s few confidants in Xishan City. To avoid Lu Jiangong and others, it was necessary to call people from other places.

Meanwhile, Lu Jiangong and his associates were still unaware of the movement of the two provincial leaders’ vehicles. Upon returning to the office, he immediately ordered his confidant to lock down the hospital and not bring Old Wang Ba and his people back to the police station yet; they were to use them to force Ye Qing out.

”No matter who they are, do not let them leave Xishan City!” Lu Jiangong pounded the table and instructed sternly, ”Once caught, kill them all. Leave no one alive!”

”What about those two women?” his confidant asked.

”Kill them too!” Lu Jiangong said sternly. ”They might all be together. Get rid of them all, leave no troubles behind!”

”Yes!” the confidant immediately replied. With these words from Lu Jiangong, he had nothing to worry about in doing his job.

Simultaneously, at the hospital, Old Wang Ba and two others lay bloodied on the ground in the ward. All three had been shot, especially the fat man who was shot several times in the back and was now lying on the ground unconscious. Fortunately, Old Wang Ba had applied medicine powder to stop the bleeding, but his life was still in grave danger.

Old Wang Ba looked at the police nearby and pleaded, ”Can you save him first? He’s about to die. No matter how grave his crimes, you can’t just watch him die!”

The captain looked at Lu Xiaoli, who was utterly indifferent, and said, ”He dared to attack the police. Death is no pity for him. Ignore him!”

”Fuck your mother, bitch!” the skinny man cursed loudly. ”If my brother dies, I will make sure you have nowhere to be buried!”

Lu Xiaoli immediately glared back and retorted, ”If you can walk out of here alive, I’ll take your surname!”

Zhang Xia went straight up, lifted her foot, and stomped her high heel fiercely onto the skinny man’s shot arm, causing him to scream in agony, his face ghostly pale from severe pain.

”Dare to curse my cousin, you must be tired of living!” Zhang Xia glared and said. ”Do you know who my cousin is? And you still want to kill her? It’s laughable! Let me tell you, my cousin is the daughter of Municipal Police Chief Lu Jiangong, the Chief’s daughter. You think you can kill her? Keep dreaming!”

”Miss Lu, let’s... let’s treat their wounds first!” the captain suggested worriedly. ”Although they are criminals, if people die in front of us, we are still responsible!”

Lu Xiaoli frowned but was about to speak when suddenly, several people walked into the door.

”No need!” the lead person, who was Lu Jiangong’s confidant, walked in with a sneer and said, ”We just found out that these individuals are highly dangerous criminals that need immediate interrogation. We will take over here; you can stand down!”

”Ah?” the captain hesitated, but the confidant glared fiercely and said, ”This is an order from Director Lu. Any questions? Do I need to call Director Lu to have him tell you himself?”

”No, no, no!” The captain hurriedly shook his head and waved his hands, and quickly led his men out of there.

Watching these people leave, the confidant turned leisurely to look at Lu Xiaoli and smiled, ”Xiaoli, I heard that this bitch has been clinging to your boyfriend and refuses to break up, right? How about Uncle helps you take care of them?”
