Zhou Changwu sneered and continued, ”Moreover, his sudden emergence of an illegitimate daughter is inherently a matter of conduct. If someone decides to make an issue out of this, he won’t be able to rest easy!”

The issue of illegitimate children has always been a huge taboo in official circles, and Zhou Changwu’s words made Lin Zhichang’s eyes light up. He looked at Zhou excitedly and said, ”Old Zhou, hearing you say this, does it mean that someone is already planning to exploit this issue?”

Zhou Changwu chuckled and did not say much, but his implication was very clear. Lin Zhichang, looking at Zhou Changwu, speculated even more in his heart. Could it be that Zhou Changwu’s elder brother was preparing to use this issue to his advantage? It seemed that Zhou Changwu was indeed confident, no wonder he dared to provoke Liu Changping!

”Old Zhou, if that’s the case, then we’re not in a rush at this moment!” Lin Zhichang said, ”Those people are just small fry, after all, dealing with them isn’t very meaningful. Let them enjoy a few days of freedom, and once Liu Changping completely falls from power, then we strike against them, wouldn’t that be easy?”

”No way!” Zhou Changwu flatly shook his head and declared, ”He is my only son, and they beat him like that, I won’t let them off no matter what. Old Lin, you only need to be aware of this, I will handle it cleanly, and it definitely won’t implicate you!”

Seeing Zhou Changwu so adamant, Lin Zhichang could only sigh and did not speak further. He really didn’t want to get involved in this matter!

Zhou Changwu left the room and immediately called the Beggar King, ordering him to arrange an ambush for Black Bear and his men.

On the other side, after Huang Baixiong had finished speaking with Lin Zhichang, he directly called the detention center, instructing them to release Black Bear and others. At the same time, he also called Huangfu Ziyu to inform her of the handling of the matter, naturally, his main purpose was to ask Huangfu Ziyu for money. Since he had saved the people, the money that belonged to him should naturally come into his hands!

At the detention center, Black Bear, Yue Peng, and their team, totaling seven individuals, gathered their belongings and left the detention center. Black Bear took out his cell phone and called Ye Qing, who was still on the highway, and was instructed to find a place to hide first until they could meet up and return to Shenchuan City together.

After hanging up the phone, Black Bear and his group didn’t head back to the city center, but instead drove directly to the nearest town to avoid the Beggar King’s men. However, about half an hour after they left, Black Bear, who had been leading the way, suddenly frowned and looked around cautiously, as if searching for something.

”Brother Bear, what’s wrong?” Yue Peng also immediately looked around. They were in a small grove with many large rocks around, giving the place a rather dangerous vibe.

”Everyone, be careful, there’s a smell of blood!” Black Bear declared in a low voice, breaking a wrist-thick sapling from beside him and holding it as a weapon while he cautiously watched the surrounding boulders.

The others also became alert, rapidly picking up any handy weapons from the ground, looking around to guard against any possible crisis at any moment.

As everyone waited cautiously, suddenly, a woman stood up from behind one of the boulders, the moonlight shining on her face.

”Which of you is Brother Black Bear!” the woman shouted from atop the boulder.

”That’s me!” Black Bear looked at the woman, his face showing surprise as he didn’t recognize her.

Upon hearing this, the woman jumped down from the boulder—which was about the height of a building’s floor—but landed incredibly lightly, without needing to roll to mitigate the impact, which was very odd.

”My name is Zi Yan, my elder sister sent me to help you guys!” the woman walked up to Black Bear and said, ”Brother Black Bear, follow me!”

Black Bear was momentarily stunned and asked, ”Who is your elder sister?”

Zi Yan smiled and answered, ”The one from Dongzhou!”

”Which one from Dongzhou?” Black Bear hesitated for a moment and asked, ”Is it... Miss Huangfu?”

”What do you think?” Zi Yan replied with a smile.

Black Bear scratched his head, recalling that Huang Baixiong had mentioned during their last meeting that it was Huangfu Ziyu who had asked them to help. Encountering Zi Yan now, his first thought was naturally of Huangfu Ziyu again. But why would Huangfu Ziyu send someone to meet them?

However, since Zi Yan was Huangfu Ziyu’s person, Black Bear had no worries and led the group to follow Zi Yan.

Black Bear followed behind Zi Yan, walking for a while before he couldn’t help but ask, ”Miss Zi Yan, do... do you smell that? It seems like there’s a bloody scent around here?”

”Hehe...” Zi Yan chuckled lightly and said, ”Brother Bear, you should be grateful that you can smell the blood. If you couldn’t, the ones bleeding right now would probably be you, wouldn’t they?”

”What do you mean?” Black Bear was even more astonished.

”Look over there!” Zi Yan casually pointed to the side.

By then, Black Bear and his group had reached the back of a pile of boulders, but it was too dark all around for them to see clearly. Following Zi Yan’s pointing, Black Bear looked carefully and saw that behind the boulder pile, it seemed like there were many things stacked together, yet he couldn’t tell what they were. After looking carefully for a while, his expression suddenly changed, and he said in a heavy voice, ”Those... those are corpses?”

”Not dead yet!” Zi Yan laughed, ”Our young lady received a message that the Beggar King had sent over a hundred people to ambush here, planning to kill all of you. So, she sent someone to clear the path for you in advance. Out of those hundred or so people, more than twenty ran away; the rest are all piled up over there. We’ll let the Beggar King come and collect his men tomorrow.”

Zi Yan’s words sounded casual, but to Black Bear, they were incredibly shocking. Although he was a warrior from the border battlefield, he couldn’t remain as calm as this woman. Piling up more than eighty injured people, not knowing how many of them were dead, seemed trivial to her, as if it were child’s play. Huangfu Ziyu’s subordinates, indeed, were as demoniac as she was!

However, what shocked Black Bear even more was that Huangfu Ziyu, who was far away in Dongzhou, could still control the situation in Tianhui City. It looked like people’s rumors were true; excluding West Gate, controlled by Fire Butterfly, and Shenchuan City which Huangfu Ziyu never interfered with, she controlled every other area in the Eastern Province, including Tianhui City!

Accompanied by Zi Yan, everyone arrived at a farmhouse in a nearby small town, where there were a few other people, all Huangfu Ziyu’s subordinates in Tianhui City. Under the lamp light, Black Bear finally saw Zi Yan’s appearance clearly; she looked very young, around eighteen or nineteen, but appeared to be the leader among them, as they all listened to her.

About three hours later, Ye Qing finally arrived by car. The reunion was particularly emotional for the brothers, Ye Qing and Black Bear, and even Yue Peng and others shared in the excitement.

”This must be Brother Ye, Ye Qing!” Zi Yan looked at Ye Qing with a light smile and said, ”My young lady said that the first task you asked her to do has been completed. She hopes you will remember the promise you gave her and pay it back later!”

Ye Qing bowed to Zi Yan and said, ”Please convey my message to Miss Huangfu, I won’t go back on my word. As long as Miss Huangfu asks, be it through mountains of swords or seas of flames, Mr. Ye will never renege!”

”That’s good!” Zi Yan smiled and said, ”Brother Ye, I have safely handed over the people to you, and we have completed the task assigned by my young lady. We won’t bother you any further. My young lady also asked me to tell Mr. Ye a word, neither the Hong Alliance nor Sha Men are your friends!”

”What does that mean?” Ye Qing was puzzled.

”I don’t know either; that’s exactly what my young lady said!” Zi Yan looked at Old Wang Ba next to Ye Qing and smiled, ”However, Eighth Master probably understands what my young lady means. Brother Ye, Shenchuan City is now under turbulent times, and various powers will appear there. My young lady asked me to tell you, take great care!”

After finishing her words, Zi Yan lightly laughed and left with the people around her. Ye Qing watched them go into the distance and immediately turned to Old Wang Ba, ”Eighth Master, what does Miss Huangfu mean by that?”

While smoking his dry tobacco pipe, Old Wang Ba nonchalantly said, ”These matters are too distant from you; it’s not yet your turn to worry about them. Don’t worry, if you get involved, I’ll tell you. However, there’s one thing you ought to know first, remember, keep your distance from the people at the teahouse!”

”Why?” Ye Qing was utterly confused, as Cui Yu from the teahouse had taken great care of him. If not for Cui Yu’s help, Ye Qing’s friends and brothers in Shenchuan City would have been doomed long ago. In order to help him, Cui Yu not only made enemies with the major powers in Shenchuan City but also confronted the Shen Family. Why then did Old Wang Ba still want him to maintain a distance from the people at the teahouse?

Old Wang Ba said, ”Great chaos is approaching, and the bloodshed from ten years ago may repeat itself. If you don’t want to get involved, don’t have connections with any side!”

”The bloodshed from ten years ago? What bloodshed?” Ye Qing was even more astonished, as Old Wang Ba’s words seemed cryptic and incomprehensible.

”You’ll know in time!” Old Wang Ba knocked his dry tobacco pipe against a stone at the doorstep and said, ”Damn, can you stop asking so many questions? Aren’t we going back to Shenchuan City? Let’s go quickly, are you planning to stay here for a few more days?”

Ye Qing knew that with Old Wang Ba’s character, if he didn’t want to talk, no amount of questioning would work. Thus, these doubts had to be set aside for now. They rented two cars in the nearby town and headed towards Shenchuan City with Black Bear and the others.

Ye Qing and his group didn’t go directly back to Shenchuan City but first stopped in a small town about thirty kilometers away from Shenchuan City. Ye Qing hid Li Lianshan’s Range Rover and had Yue Peng rent two cars to enter Shenchuan City discreetly, to avoid the eyes and ears of Tianqing Gang and Fu Bang.

Of course, before returning, Liu Changping had already had all the wanted notices and such cancelled for Ye Qing. Moreover, Liu Changping personally expressed his support for Ye Qing, and the attitude of Shenchuan City’s police also changed immediately; even Zhao Chengshuang was released. At this moment, on an official level, Ye Qing had nothing to worry about, his main target now being to eliminate the overt enemies like Tianqing Gang and Fu Bang!
