Urban Martial Saint

Twenty minutes later, Lin Tianyou and several doctors and nurses hurriedly ran into the hospital. From a distance, he spotted Ye Qing and rushed over, asking anxiously, ”What happened? How is it going?”

”The operation is still going on; I don’t know the situation yet!” Ye Qing sat wearily on the ground, feeling his whole body numbing, lacking even the strength to stand.

Lin Tianyou was about to say more when Dean Zhao Dajun arrived with a group of department heads in a hurry, laughing from afar, ”Divine Doctor Lin, what brings you here? You must give us some guidance at our hospital today!”

Even without considering Lin Tianyou’s family background, his own reputation in Shenchuan City’s medical community was substantial. The youngest Divine Doctor, with the most exquisite medical skills, was treated as an honored guest by all the hospitals in Shenchuan City.

Upon hearing of Lin Tianyou’s arrival, Dean Zhao was extremely excited and hurried out to welcome him. In fact, he didn’t even know what had happened yet.

”Dean Zhao,” Lin Tianyou merely nodded at Zhao Dajun without even glancing his way, urgently asking Ye Qing, ”Is the injury serious?”

”Go in and see for yourself.” Ye Qing felt the numbness spreading through his body, making it hard even to sit.

Lin Tianyou had only heard a brief account of the incident over the phone and did not know the specifics, so upon hearing this, he immediately rushed to the door of the operating room.

Dean Zhao followed behind, puzzled, ”Divine Doctor Lin, what’s wrong with you?”

In the operating room, several people were gathered around the little boy, and the doctor who had been hit by Ye earlier was still cursing. Suddenly, he was taken aback to see several people barge in, demanding, ”What are you doing? Don’t you know this is an operating room?”

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw Dean Zhao following behind, and the doctor instantly shut his mouth, for he was no different from a grandson in front of Dean Zhao.

Dean Zhao didn’t even bother with him, just closely following Lin Tianyou, ”Divine Doctor Lin, is there anything I can help you with?”

Lin Tianyou and his associates approached the operating table and directly pushed the original staff aside.

The doctor was somewhat angry, casting a confused look at Dean Zhao; he did not recognize Lin Tianyou’s identity, nor understood why these people were so presumptuous.

However, Dean Zhao was feeling uneasy inside, as Lin Tianyou was known for his good temper in Shenchuan City. Yet, after all, he had said, Lin hadn’t responded to a word, which made him worry that Lin might be displeased with him.

”What’s going on here?” Dean Zhao asked the doctor in a low voice.

”I don’t know...” The doctor was clueless, whispering, ”This child’s deposit has not been paid yet. The youngster who brought him here didn’t pay, and he even assaulted and intimidated me without reason, even beating up the security staff. Look what he did to me in front of you, Dean!”

Hearing this, Dean Zhao pretty much understood the situation and his expression became extremely grim.

Lin Tianyou, overhearing their conversation, turned his head and said softly, ”By the way, Dean Zhao, I came in a rush and didn’t bring any money. Can the deposit issue be postponed?”

Dean Zhao shuddered, knowing the hospital’s policy was to collect money before saving a life, but that was for ordinary people. If this escalated, the social commentary would be a hassle. Moreover, Lin Tianyou had considerable influence in Shenchuan City’s medical community; if he decided to pursue this matter, Dean Zhao feared he would suffer the consequences.

Anxious, Dean Zhao rushed to respond, ”Divine Doctor Lin, physicians have the heart of parents, it’s critical to save lives, to save lives, don’t talk about money!”

Lin Tianyou said nothing more, as he had vaguely heard about the deposit issue over the phone and was very dissatisfied with such practices. That was why he had been so indifferent toward Dean Zhao.

Dean Zhao watched Lin Tianyou by the operating table, wanting to say something but not knowing where to begin.

A nurse walked over and said, ”Dean Zhao, please step out for a moment, Doctor Lin is going to perform surgery on this child!”

”Uh...” Dean Zhao scratched his head and said, ”Divine Doctor Lin, is there anything I can help with?”

”If you don’t cause trouble, that would be best!” a female nurse by Lin Tianyou’s side said coldly.

Dean Zhao immediately shut his mouth and left the operating room with his people, disgruntled. It was his hospital, yet doctors from another institution stood beside his operating table. Although he was upset, he dared not say anything. They were in the wrong to begin with, so how could he dare to confront Lin Tianyou with his significant background?

The doctor, who was still unaware of Lin Tianyou’s identity, walked out of the operating room and couldn’t help saying, ”Who the hell is that guy? So arrogant!”

Dean Zhao turned and slapped the doctor twice in anger, snarling, ”You damn fool, you don’t even recognize Lin Tianyou and you dare practice medicine in Shenchuan City?”

The doctor’s eyes widened as he covered his slightly swollen face, shock and terror written all over him. After a long while, he trembled, ”He... he is Lin Tianyou?”

Dean Zhao ignored him and turned to see Ye Qing already lying on the ground, frowned slightly and asked in a low voice, ”What’s wrong with him?”

”I don’t know.” The doctor glanced at Ye Qing, no longer daring to show any displeasure, whispering, ”He was the one who brought that child here. Could he have been injured as well?”

Dean Zhao glared at him and ordered, ”What are you staring at? Get him checked right away!”

Several doctors hurried over to help Ye Qing up. At that moment, Ye could feel the actions of the people around him, but his whole body was without any strength. His entire body was filled with a numb sensation, as if all his meridians had been severed, and he didn’t even have the strength to move a little finger.

Ye felt the doctors lift him onto the hospital bed and didn’t know how many tests they had performed on him. After a long while, he actually drifted off to sleep.

It was unclear how much time had passed when Ye finally opened his eyes. He turned his eyeballs to look around, and everything was white; he was in a hospital room.

Ye tried to sit up, but it seemed like he had absolutely no strength in his body. His head fell back down as he tried to lift it; he didn’t even have the strength to do that much. This situation wasn’t much better than when his whole body was numb.

Ye’s movement startled Fang Tingyun, who had been dozing beside the bed. Seeing Ye open his eyes, she couldn’t contain her joy and said, ”Ye, you... you’ve finally woken up!”

Fang Tingyun had fallen asleep by the bedside, with bloodshot eyes that suggested she hadn’t slept for quite some time.

Ye felt somewhat touched in his heart. This girl was truly good to him.

”I... how many days have I been asleep?” Ye asked in a low voice, thankfully having the strength to speak.

”Three days...” Fang Tingyun said, her eyes reddening again. These past few days, she had cried several times for Ye’s sake.

”Three days?” Ye was astonished. He hadn’t expected that he would have been in a coma for three whole days. It seemed that forcibly cultivating to break through the meridians did indeed carry significant risks!

”What about the child?” Ye asked in a low voice.

”He was saved, but... his arm couldn’t be reattached...” Fang Tingyun’s voice choked up a bit. As a kind-hearted girl, seeing others in pain made her feel terrible.

”That’s good. That’s good,” Ye breathed a sigh of relief, his only fear being that the child wouldn’t have come through.

”Was the responsible driver found?” Ye followed up, this being the second issue he cared about.

”No,” Fang Tingyun shook her head.

Ye was surprised and said, ”So many people saw that car, didn’t anyone remember the license plate number?”

Fang Tingyun said, ”Some people remembered the license plate number, but when the police found the car, it was intact, without a scratch on it. Because of this issue, the car owner even sued the witnesses for slander. Some of the witnesses were fined and some were detained. Anyway, now no one dares to come forward to identify that car, so... the investigation can’t proceed!”

”How could this be?” Ye frowned. It wasn’t possible for so many people to be mistaken, was it?

”Oh dear, I almost forgot,” Fang Tingyun suddenly stood up in haste and said, ”Divine Doctor Lin said, if you woke up, to have me quickly call him over.”

Fang Tingyun hurried out of the hospital room, and in no time, Lin Tianyou ran back with her.

Seeing Ye awake, Lin Tianyou finally breathed a sigh of relief and said, ”Ye brothers, you’ve finally woken up, that’s great.”

Ye couldn’t help but be surprised. To Lin Tianyou, his waking up seemed like a miracle. Had he really awakened that extraordinarily after merely three days of unconsciousness?

”Doctor Lin, what exactly is my condition now?” Ye asked in a low voice, a bad premonition creeping into his mind.

”This...” Lin Tianyou scratched his head and looked troubled before finally speaking softly, ”Ye, I... I’ll tell you the truth, your condition is a bit troublesome...”

”What’s wrong?” Ye’s heart skipped a beat. He had forcefully struck so many meridians in his right arm, and the Acupoint Seeking Technique had mentioned the great risk but hadn’t detailed the potential consequences. However, looking at Lin’s expression, his situation seemed to be dire.

Lin Tianyou spoke softly, ”I don’t know exactly what injury you sustained. On the outside, you don’t have a single scratch. But, it seems like most of the transmission neurons in your body have malfunctioned.”

”What does that mean?” Ye frowned deeply.

Lin Tianyou hesitated for a moment before speaking softly, ”In your condition, you normally wouldn’t wake up. In medical terms, it’s called being in a vegetative state.”

”What?” Fang Tingyun cried out in alarm; she couldn’t accept this outcome.

Ye’s expression also changed as he looked at Lin Tianyou and said sternly, ”But I am awake now!”

”That’s why I said it’s a miracle that you woke up,” Lin Tianyou replied. ”However, if your transmission neurons don’t recover, even if you are awake... it really won’t mean much.”

”What do you mean by that?” Fang Tingyun asked urgently. ”If the transmission neurons don’t recover, what will happen to Ye?”

Lin Tianyou let out a melancholic sigh and said, ”If the transmission neurons don’t recover, in medical terms, your condition would be called paralysis...”
