Urban Martial Saint

Ye Qing returned home, and Fang Tingyun and Mu Qingrong were sitting in the living room.

At that time, Mu Qingrong rushed to the site of the collapse, but she couldn’t find Ye Qing anymore. Thinking he had left, she went home as well. Unexpectedly, Ye Qing hadn’t come back.

”Ye, you’re back!” Fang Tingyun was visibly happy to see Ye Qing, and stood up declaring, ”Have you eaten yet? There’s still some food in the kitchen, should I heat it up for you?”

”No need, I just ate.” Ye Qing waved his hand and sat down on the sofa. His expression was somewhat serious, and it was unclear what he was thinking about.

”Ye Qing, where did you go just now? Why did you come back so late?” Mu Qingrong asked curiously.

”Just took care of some minor things,” Ye Qing replied casually.

Mu Qingrong didn’t ask further. Seeing Ye Qing back, she felt much more relieved. In fact, she didn’t even realize that she had started to quietly care about this man whom she hadn’t known for long.

The three of them chatted idly in the living room for a while when Fang Tingyun couldn’t help asking, ”Why hasn’t Pingping come back yet?”

Huo Pingping usually came home very early, and it was indeed strange that she hadn’t shown up by this time tonight.

Mu Qingrong shrugged her shoulders; she certainly didn’t know about Huo Pingping’s whereabouts either.

Suddenly, Ye Qing, who had been sitting silently, abruptly stood up and walked straight to the door.

”Ye, where are you going?” Fang Tingyun asked anxiously.

”Out for some business,” Ye Qing said as he opened the door, only to hear a startled cry from the outside—it was Huo Pingping’s voice.

Huo Pingping had been holding her keys, ready to open the door when Ye Qing suddenly opened it, giving her a fright.

”Crazy soldier, are you trying to scare someone to death!” Huo Pingping exclaimed angrily.

Ye Qing ignored her and walked past her.

”Running out late at night, don’t you soldiers have any rules!” Huo Pingping shouted again, but Ye Qing still ignored her.

”Crazy soldier!” Huo Pingping muttered and turned to enter the house, just in time to see Fang Tingyun and Mu Qingrong sitting in the living room.

”Why haven’t you gone to bed yet?” Huo Pingping asked.

”You were out so late, we thought you’d been sold!” Fang Tingyun said.

”Joke’s on you, it’s only me who can sell others, who could possibly sell me!” Huo Pingping tossed her hair, sat down on the couch, and added, ”Actually, I had something to deal with tonight, went to the hospital.”

”What happened? Are you sick?” Fang Tingyun asked with concern, reaching out to touch Huo Pingping’s forehead.

”You’re the one who’s sick!” Huo Pingping pushed Fang Tingyun’s hand away, saying, ”My cousin got injured at the construction site and was sent to Cutie’s hospital, so I went to visit him. In Shenchuan City, we don’t have much family, so we have to rely on each other, you know!”

”Oh, I see.” Fang Tingyun nodded, saying, ”So your cousin is alright? ”

”Thankfully, he’s quite lucky. An entire building collapsed from such a height, and he only had his leg fractured. It’s fixed now, but he’ll need to rest for about two or three months.”

”Your cousin was working in the Beihua Residential Area?” Mu Qingrong asked.

”Yes, how did you know?” Huo Pingping wondered.

”The big incident at Beihua Residential Area, everyone in the city knows now!” Mu Qingrong explained.

”Ah, this time it’s really blown up,” Huo Pingping said. ”I heard that the head of the construction team and the chief developer of Beihua Residential Area have already been detained by the police. With such a big issue, it’s definitely going to give them a hard time.”

”They deserve it, who asked them to use banned materials!” Fang Tingyun declared, waving her fists.

”Maybe it’s their bad luck,” Huo Pingping said. ”Detonators like these, so many construction crews use them. But before, when has anything so serious ever occurred? A whole building collapsed, who could’ve anticipated that.”

”Before anything happens, many are hoping for luck. Once it happens, the responsibility is more than they can bear!” Mu Qingrong said seriously.

”Big boss really talks sensibly!” Huo Pingping nodded and said, ”Forget these unscrupulous businessmen. Oh, I have to tell you, today in the hospital I saw the handsome guy Cutie has a crush on!”

”Oh?” Fang Tingyun immediately perked up, asking, ”How is he?”

Mu Qingrong said with a smile, ”Pingping, take advantage of Cutie not being here and gossip all you want!”

”What, you don’t want to hear it?” Huo Pingping retorted.

Mu Qingrong fell silent for a moment, moved closer to Huo Pingping, and urged, ”Then hurry up and tell.”

Huo Pingping cleared her throat, confessing, ”Actually, he’s not much of a handsome guy; looks ordinary, a bit older. Cutie is not even twenty-two yet, but that guy must be over thirty. However, he seems quite capable, whether he’s rich, I don’t know.”

”True love doesn’t care about age or background,” Fang Tingyun declared.

”Exactly, Ye Qing this drifter you even brought home, when it comes to you, that’s what true love really is,” Huo Pingping said.

Fang Tingyun immediately blushed and said quietly, ”Pingping, don’t talk nonsense.”

Huo Pingping waved her hands dismissively, saying, ”Let me tell you, this whole true love doesn’t care about age or family background. Not caring about age is one thing, but not caring about family background too? Then what’s the love for? Tell me, if this guy is not only old but also dirt poor, why would Cutie marry him?”

”Enough, stop judging other people’s relationships,” Mu Qingrong said. ”What really matters is what kind of person he is, right?”

Huo Pingping replied, ”How would I know? I only saw him once. If I could tell just from that, I’d be a god.”

”Then stop talking about it,” Mu Qingrong retorted, her lips curling as she stood up and returned to her room unwilling to listen further.

Fang Tingyun didn’t want to chat with Huo Pingping alone either, fearing she might be influenced by her, so she too went back to her room.

Huo Pingping said anxiously, ”Hey, why are you two running off? I haven’t finished speaking. Can’t you let me finish? I can’t sleep if I don’t get this big piece of gossip off my chest!”

Ye Qing left the residential area and headed straight for Beihua Residential Area. It took him barely over twenty minutes to get there.

Beihua Residential Area was completely sealed off, with about twenty policemen guarding the perimeter to protect the scene.

Taking advantage of the darkness and the policemen’s distraction, Ye Qing climbed over the surrounding wall into the residential area.

The ruins were still there, but the explosion sounds had ceased, and most of it had already collapsed completely. What hadn’t collapsed was secured. Thus, the ruins were now completely safe.

Ye Qing walked up to the ruins, carefully observing the situation of the ruins and the internal damage.

After a long look, Ye Qing’s frown deepened more and more. Eventually, he walked into the ruins, and meticulously observed the areas with the most severe damage.

Ye Qing had purposefully visited several spots, and these were also the ones with the most severe damage. Other places just had collapses and damaged walls. But these few spots, even the bricks had shattered quite a bit, noticeably different from other areas.

Of course, he had carefully observed these spots for a reason. If it was someone else who came in, seeing nothing but ruins, they wouldn’t have noticed these details.

After seeing these few spots, Ye Qing’s frown grew severe, and his expression gradually turned colder.

After walking around the ruins a few times and not finding any other valuable clues, Ye Qing climbed back over the wall and left.

Once back home, the living room was pitch dark, save for some light coming from the restroom where the sound of Huo Pingping humming a tune could be heard.

Ye Qing didn’t plan to disturb anyone and walked to his own room door, ready to go inside.

Just then, the restroom door suddenly opened, and a naked Huo Pingping walked out.

Seeing Ye Qing, Huo Pingping froze for a moment, then let out a scream, turned around, and ran back to the restroom, slamming the door shut behind her.

Ye Qing was also stunned; he had only seen a flash of her white body, and his mind went blank, not noticing anything else. It was indeed a strong shock for him!

”Pingping, what’s wrong?” the heads of Fang Tingyun, Mu Qingrong, and Mo Xiang poked out from the neighboring rooms. Seeing Ye standing at the restroom doorway, all three women were surprised.

”You filthy pervert, what do you think you’re doing!” Huo Pingping yelled from inside the restroom.

With just a few people in the room, Huo Pingping’s reference to the ”filthy pervert” was obviously directed at Ye Qing.

The three women all looked at Ye Qing, who himself appeared completely innocent, and said, ”I... I wasn’t planning to do anything!”

”Not planning to do anything, then what are you doing here?” Huo Pingping shouted angrily. ”In the middle of the night, silently standing at the restroom door, were you trying to peep at me?”

The three women looked at Ye Qing, and of course, they all trusted him a lot.

”I just got back from outside, was about to head to my room to sleep, and then you came out. I didn’t plan anything!” Ye Qing explained.

”Nonsense, you just got back and you didn’t turn on the lights in the living room. Pitch dark and sneaking around, you obviously had ulterior motives!” Huo Pingping continued to rant.

Ye Qing replied helplessly, ”It’s so late, I didn’t want to disturb you all, so I didn’t turn on the lights. Besides, if I turned them on, I’d have to come back to turn them off anyway. It’s dark in the house, but I can still see where I’m going.”

Huo Pingping retorted, ”Stop making up stories here, you were intentionally trying to peep at me!”

”Pingping, Ye is not that kind of person. He definitely didn’t do it on purpose, don’t be angry!” Fang Tingyun spoke out in Ye’s defense.

”Xiao Fangfang, are you really going to throw your lot in with him?” Huo Pingping shouted loudly.

”I’m not...” Fang Tingyun was at a loss for words.

”Alright, Pingping, you should rest now,” Mu Qingrong glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”Ye, you should rest early too, we all have work tomorrow.”

Ye Qing didn’t plan to say anything more and opened his room door to go inside.

Huo Pingping continued to rant in the restroom for a while, but since no one paid any mind to her, she lost interest, dressed carefully, and walked out.

The three women all went back to their rooms to rest, and Huo Pingping looked at Ye Qing’s room door, grinding her teeth furiously.

Actually, this place used to house only girls, and she had gotten into the habit of going straight to her room after her shower. She hadn’t expected, just by chance tonight, to run into Ye Qing. Thinking back on her completely naked state just then, Huo Pingping’s pretty face blushed deep red.

”Ye Qing, you just wait!” Huo Pingping angrily waved her little fist at Ye Qing’s room door.
