Urban Martial Saint

”Ye brothers, what exactly is the situation now, is this actually a man-made accident?” Zhao Chengshuang asked excitedly from the side, with Ye Qing’s help, he felt that there was a great hope of solving the case, and great hope for earning recognition as well.”

Ye Qing put down the documents, and did not answer Zhao Chengshuang’s question.

Seeing that Ye Qing did not respond, Zhao Chengshuang thought he was unsure, so he continued, ”Should I make a call to bring in some professionals to examine the site?”

Ye Qing was slightly surprised and said, ”With an accident like this, generally aren’t there professionals who go to the scene to investigate?”

”That’s what is officially said. In reality, how many professionals can a department really have?” Zhao Chengshuang laughed, ”The so-called professionals in our department are just some college graduates with little practical experience. To find real professionals, we need to ask the military region. If it’s not a major incident, the military generally wouldn’t intervene.

Moreover, the department usually doesn’t like to hand over its matters to others, so you shouldn’t trust those so-called experts from the police department.”

The professionals Zhao Chengshuang referred to were explosives experts from the military region. For Zhao Chengshuang, this wasn’t difficult because the Zhao family had strong influence in the military, his father was still the political commissar of the military region.

Ye Qing frowned, no wonder it had been so long, and the city bureau still had not classified this incident as a man-made accident. However, on the other hand, since the explosions on-site were detonators set by the construction team, it was not common for them to be considered as man-made accidents but rather as the result of the construction team’s violation of regulations.

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”If needed, I can contact Deputy Director Deng, and have him ask a few experts from the military region to come over and investigate exactly what happened.”

Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”No need.”

Zhao Chengshuang asked curiously, ”Why? Have you already determined what kind of accident this was?”

Ye Qing said, ”Whether it’s determined or not, it’s best not to announce the news for now. Bringing in people from the military region will only startle the snake, and if they determine it’s a man-made accident but can’t catch the suspect, then it would not be good.”

”That makes sense,” Zhao Chengshuang nodded and said, ”But if we don’t announce the news now, how should we handle this matter? If we’re not sure whether it’s a man-made accident, we can’t really set up a special team to investigate.”

”No special team needed,” Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”I will investigate this matter myself.”

”Oh.” Zhao Chengshuang looked at Ye Qing, his face showing a bit of obsequiousness, and said, ”Then, if you find out something… could you… maybe let me know…”

Ye Qing knew what Zhao Chengshuang was thinking and nodded, ”If there’s merit, it will be credited to you!”

”That’s great! Ye brother, you really understand me!” Zhao Chengshuang excitedly waved his arms, but as he had multiple fractures all over his body, this movement immediately hit his injured spots, causing him to grimace in pain and suck in air through his teeth.

”I have another question,” Ye Qing said, ”Do you know a person named Old Five Chen?”

Zhao Chengshuang responded, ”You mean Chen Old Five, right? I know him, he’s no good. What, do you have some business with him? This old guy has some clout in Shenchuan City, and has a gang of desperados under him, he’s not easy to mess with. If you have any issues with him, I can help you handle it, this old fellow…”

”No need!” Ye Qing interrupted Zhao Chengshuang sharply and said, ”I don’t have any grudges with him.”

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Oh, then what do you want to know? Our department has this guy’s records.”

Ye Qing said, ”I heard that this man has been involved in black activities for years, why is he still thriving in Shenchuan City?”

Zhao Chengshuang, knowing Ye Qing’s abhorrence for evil, immediately objected, ”Ye brother, everyone says he’s involved in black activities, but where’s the evidence? Now he runs a legitimate company, cloaking himself as a successful businessman. Everyone knows about his black activities, but we police also need evidence to act.

Moreover, this old guy has a deep background in Shenchuan City, with complex connections. Unless someone can bring him down completely at once, who would want to offend him? Besides, these local thugs are like cancer, not so easily eradicated. With these people, we can only slowly gather evidence related to them. Once the evidence is fully gathered, then we can completely overturn them.

Before the evidence is complete, like you said, we must not startle the snake!”

Ye Qing frowned and said, ”I heard he has been involved in demolitions for many years, isn’t that kind of activity highly likely to lead to accidents? How come there’s still not enough evidence collected over so many years?”

Zhao Chengshuang grimaced and said, ”In these matters, the big boss never handles things personally. Chen Old Five has so many underlings, just any one of them could do it. If something goes wrong, these underlings will take the blame, and it’s hard to trace it back to him.”

”So, he’s an old fox!” Ye Qing slowly clenched his fist.

”Ye brother, tell me honestly, do you really have some kind of grudge against Chen Old Five?” Zhao Chengshuang asked curiously, ”If there really is a grudge, I’ll help you handle it. You shouldn’t go alone, Chen Old Five is not like the seven people you met last time, he is not easy to deal with. He also has complicated connections; taking action against him might even lead to more problems.

As the saying goes, even a powerful dragon cannot suppress a local thug, Ye brother, you are the powerful dragon, but there’s no need to fight to the death with a local thug!”

Ye Qing did not respond, he knew Zhao Chengshuang’s words were meant for his benefit. However, he would not change his resolve just because Old Five Chen was too powerful. As a soldier, he had faced many death traps yet still had to charge forward. His five years of military life had shaped him into a fearless person!

Ye Qing chatted casually with Zhao Chengshuang for a while and managed to gather some information about Old Five Chen from him. This man’s strength in Shenchuan City wasn’t considered strong, but he wasn’t a weakling either. He had over a hundred men under him and had opened three restaurants as a front, visiting one of them every night to drink tea.

At four in the afternoon, Ye Qing left Zhao Chengshuang’s hospital room and went to find Lin Tianyou.

Usually, Lin Tianyou wasn’t very busy with his medical practice. As the hospital’s premier doctor and the youngest Divine Doctor in Shenchuan City, certainly, many sought him out. However, not everyone could meet Lin Tianyou. Only for those diseases that were difficult to treat would Lin Tianyou personally attend to the patient.

For illnesses that other doctors could treat, Lin Tianyou wouldn’t interfere. Otherwise, wouldn’t he be overwhelmed every day?

Seeing Ye Qing seek him out, Lin Tianyou was quite surprised and quickly invited him to sit down warmly.

Lin Tianyou poured tea for Ye Qing and immediately took out a notebook, saying, ”Ye brothers, I was actually about to look for you. I wrote down the methods you mentioned yesterday, but there are some parts that aren’t very clear to me. Could you explain them a bit more?”

”There’s no rush, I will explain them slowly in a bit. Right now, I have a question for you…” Ye Qing looked at Lin Tianyou and asked, ”Do you know about myocardial infarction?”

”Yes,” Lin Tianyou replied, unsure of what Ye Qing intended.

”Is there any medication or method that could make someone appear to have died from myocardial infarction?” Ye Qing asked, eager to understand how the old woman had truly died.

”I don’t think so,” Lin Tianyou scratched his head and said, ”Unless the patient already had a myocardial infarction and died due to an acute episode, that’s the only way that would happen. No other method would work; you simply can’t fabricate a myocardial infarction.”

Ye Qing asked, ”What do you mean by ’an acute episode’?”

Lin Tianyou explained, ”Myocardial infarction is an acute disease. It can’t withstand shocks, and it’s very dangerous. Once external shocks trigger it, the disease manifests suddenly and the mortality rate is very high!”

Ye Qing’s expression changed slightly — could the old woman have been subjected to some form of shock before her death?

Ye Qing asked, ”What kinds of shocks are you referring to?”

Lin Tianyou replied, ”There are many types, such as severe emotional fluctuations like anger, excitement, and joy. Also, changes in the external environment, sudden cold or sudden heat. Sometimes overexertion or overeating can cause the illness to flare up unexpectedly.”

Ye Qing nodded slowly, now almost certain about what had caused the old woman’s death. Given her condition, those people only needed to verbally provoke her to trigger her illness.

”Why are you suddenly asking about this illness?” Lin Tianyou asked. ”I have a classmate who has achieved great success in this field. If you need, I can put you in touch with him.”

”No need,” Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”Thank you, I should get going.”

Lin Tianyou quickly stood up, saying, ”Are you leaving now?”

Ye Qing glanced at the clock on the wall and replied, ”It’s almost time to get off work; I need to check in at the office.”

”You found a job in Shenchuan City? What will you be doing?” Lin Tianyou, delighted, feared Ye Qing might suddenly leave Shenchuan City. He still had much to learn from him. Now that Ye Qing had found a job, he wouldn’t be leaving any time soon, which meant he could finally consult him thoroughly about medical matters.

Ye Qing replied, ”Salesman.”

”Salesman?” Lin Tianyou glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”Ye brothers, with your skills, you could easily help out at the hospital. The Traditional Chinese Medicine department is short on staff, and you are no less qualified than those older doctors.”

Ye Qing replied, ”Being a salesman is pretty good too.”

Lin Tianyou said, ”Salesman is fine, but running business in Shenchuan City without connections is tough. Ye brothers, you’ve only been here for a short while; how can you already have a network? This job really isn’t suitable for you right now.”

”It’s alright,” Ye Qing said indifferently. He chose the sales job mainly because it allowed him to roam the streets freely, which facilitated his search for his brother.

Understanding Ye Qing’s character to some extent, Lin Tianyou didn’t press any further.

”By the way, what does your company do?” Lin Tianyou suddenly asked. He had extensive connections in Shenchuan City and wanted to help Ye Qing.
