Urban Martial Saint

”Cooperate?” Xu Beihua looked at Ye Qing and said, ”What... what do you want me to do to cooperate? I’ve already told you everything I know!”

”Whether you’ve told me everything, you know it in your heart.” Ye Qing’s expression remained calm as he said, ”Now, this matter is a matter of life and death for you, and it’s not related to me. President Xu, don’t blame me for not warning you, the police have already started paying attention to this case following two consecutive bombing incidents.

Once expert certification confirms that the bombing in Beihua Residential Area was intentional, I think President Xu, you should be fine and able to go home.”

In the past, Xu Beihua would have been overjoyed to hear such words. But now, they sounded like a death knell to him, draining the color from his face instantly.

Old Five Chen was blown to pieces, but what would await him when he showed up?

Xu Beihua hardly dared to imagine himself being blown apart by a bomb, his flesh scattered.

Xu Beihua’s voice trembled as he said, ”I... I can cooperate with you, but I truly don’t know what else to say...”

Ye Qing looked at Xu Beihua and said, ”President Xu, do you really know so little about that old woman’s death?”

Xu Beihua hesitated for a moment before whispering, ”I... I do know some things that aren’t very important...”

Ye Qing frowned. He had known all along that Xu Beihua wasn’t an honest man and must be hiding something. However, Ye Qing didn’t have the time to delve into these matters and sternly said, ”President Xu, I hope you can honestly tell me everything. Otherwise, if we can’t find him before you leave here, not even the gods will be able to save you!”

”I... I...” Xu Beihua’s face turned ashen, he clenched his teeth and remained silent for a while before whispering, ”Regarding that matter, Chen Wuye told me about it... he... he also demanded a sum of money from me to provide for the people involved as a sort of settlement fee...”

Ye Qing’s face turned icy as he said sternly, ”Why didn’t you say this earlier?”

”I... I was scared...” Xu Beihua said pitifully. He had intended to thoroughly disassociate himself from the matter, but now it seemed impossible.

Ye Qing glared at him and angrily said, ”Scared? Are you not afraid of dying?”

Xu Beihua awkwardly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and whispered, ”Ye brothers, I... I know I was wrong, but this affair was mainly done by Old Five Chen and his group. I... I’m just a developer, it doesn’t have much to do with me...”

Ye Qing said coldly, ”Go tell that to the person who planted the bomb!”

Xu Beihua scratched his head and said, ”Ye brothers, don’t be angry, I... I will tell you everything. You’ve got to catch that guy. If he keeps planting bombs around the city, won’t that lead to complete chaos?”

Ye Qing was also worried about this, which was why he had to find this person quickly. Otherwise, in his eyes, people like Old Five Chen and Xu Beihua deserved death. Even if they were killed before his eyes by that person, he wouldn’t bother. However, that person had created so much chaos that Ye Qing had no choice but to intervene.

”Speak!” Ye Qing said with a stern voice.

Xu Beihua sighed and slowly recounted the situation as it happened.

As Ye Qing had guessed, Old Five Chen took the money from Xu Beihua and found a few people to harass that old woman. The team leader was Old Five Chen’s nephew, Chen Shibao. Yet, the old woman had a strong mentality and didn’t suffer an attack, to the frustration of Chen Wuye and his people.

Eventually, someone suggested that, under cover of darkness, they sneak into the old woman’s house and cover her face with a blanket.

In the ensuing struggle to breathe, the old woman suffered a sudden heart attack. The men quickly removed the blanket and watched as the old woman died right before them. Then, they bribed the coroner to turn a blind eye to the old woman’s pre-death suffocation.

The old woman died of a heart attack, and with the coroner’s complicity, the case ended there. Xu Beihua began developing Beihua Residential Area, while Old Five Chen took a large sum of money, and everyone went about their business as if nothing had happened.

Had it not been for the recent bombings, the murder of the old woman would probably have remained buried forever. Xu Beihua spoke out now, compelled by a need to save his own life, though he insisted repeatedly that he was just the money man and whatever Old Five Chen did was unrelated to him.

After listening to Xu Beihua, Ye Qing was silent for a long time before suddenly standing up and punching Xu Beihua in the face.

Xu Beihua fell to the ground, bleeding from nose and mouth, and let out a piercing scream, ”What are you doing? Why… why are you hitting me? I’m bleeding, you made me bleed! I’ll sue you! I’ll sue you!”

Ye Qing looked at Xu Beihua with cold eyes and said, ”Xu, once I find that person, I’ll settle this account with you!”

”What debt! I... What do I owe you!” Xu Beihua said anxiously.

Ye Qing ignored him and turned to leave the room. Several police officers came in, and seeing Xu Beihua like that, none of them paid him any attention. After all, Ye Qing was a friend of Zhao Chengshuang, and these people all had good relationships with Zhao Chengshuang.

Ye Qing then rushed to the hospital and got the information about Chen Shibao from Zhao Chengshuang.

This Chen Shibao was actually just a small-time thug, but thanks to his uncle Old Five Chen, he’d mixed well over the years. Just that he didn’t have as extensive a network as Old Five Chen. With the death of Old Five Chen, his status was sure to plummet.

Ye Qing didn’t go to work that afternoon; instead, he went straight to find Chen Shibao. Of course, he didn’t meet Chen Shibao openly, but hid and followed him, while keeping an eye on anyone else who might be following Chen Shibao.

However, despite following him until the evening, Ye Qing still hadn’t seen anyone else following Chen Shibao. It wasn’t until after ten o’clock that Chen Shibao returned home to rest. Ye Qing watched outside his villa for nearly half an hour, and when nothing happened, he left to go home.

That evening, continuing with the Breathing Method from the Acupoint Seeking Technique, Ye Qing faintly felt his internal energy swelling. These past days of practice had made the Internal Breath within him stronger and stronger.

Ye Qing tried to use this energy to break through to the first acupoint leading to his right arm, but after several attempts, it yielded no results, except for a slight numbing sensation on the right side of his body.

Ye Qing didn’t dare to be too hasty. Since he couldn’t break through, he didn’t continue. Cultivating Inner Strength was a matter of gradual progress and should not be rushed for quick success.

Early the next morning, after Ye Qing finished his morning exercises and returned, he saw Mu Qingrong sitting in the living room. Normally at this time, Mu Qingrong would either still be in bed or have already gone to work. But today, she was dressed very formally, yet she hadn’t left.

Seeing Ye Qing, Mu Qingrong immediately stood up and smiled, ”Ye Qing, you’re back just in time. Come with me to the Lin Corporation tender meeting this morning.”

Only then did Ye Qing remember that today was the day of the Lin Corporation’s tender. This event was a big deal for the company.

”Okay!” Ye Qing agreed, took a quick shower, put on his wrinkled suit, and left the house with Mu Qingrong.

Mu Qingrong went back to the company first and also called Manager Wang. Although Ye Qing was doing very well at the company, Mu Qingrong still felt that Manager Wang had more experience. With him participating in the tender, the chances of winning the bid were higher.

Seeing that Ye Qing was also going, Manager Wang looked very displeased. However, he couldn’t do anything about it, as the qualifications for the bid had been obtained by Ye Qing. He really couldn’t understand what Ye Qing was capable of. He had first secured a lucrative contract from Das Group, and now he had obtained the bidding qualification from Lin Corporation.

These were things he wouldn’t even dare to dream of before.

Nevertheless, Manager Wang was still not convinced by Ye Qing. After all, he had been working in Shenchuan City for a long time and had extensive connections. Moreover, his experience was rich, and in creating planning proposals, he didn’t believe Ye Qing could compare with him.

The scene at the Lin Corporation tender was even busier than the Dayue Group’s. It could almost be said to have gathered all the big enterprises in the industry within Shenchuan City. Even some companies from other places rushed over to get a piece of the action.

Although Mu Qingrong was the president of Yunchi Group, she really was no match for the business managers of those companies here.

But Mu Qingrong wasn’t the least bit self-conscious, always standing tall and smiling. Her beautiful appearance, elegant demeanor, and competent aura attracted quite a bit of attention. The tender meeting hadn’t even started yet, and Mu Qingrong had already handed out thirteen business cards, and received seven in return. And this was a great opportunity for the company to expand its network!

The tender began, and everyone took their seats. Zhang Daping, the project manager of Lin Corporation, put on a dog-and-pony show walking onto the stage, pronouncing some grand statements which were really just bluster. What everyone was more concerned about was the upcoming tender projects.

Unlike Dayue Group, Lin Corporation listed the tender projects and let everyone take note. After three days, the companies would submit their planning proposals, and Lin Corporation would select some of the better ones from among them. These selected proposals would then serve as the first round of chosen companies to further refine their plans.

After the second round of screening, the final winning company would be determined.

As soon as the projects were listed, Manager Wang began to write them down diligently. Ye Qing, on the other hand, didn’t make a move, just looked over the entire list from top to bottom, seeking out projects that were related to the company and likely to win the bid.

The Lin Corporation’s project was a big one, and even the smaller subprojects had substantial profits. Mu Qingrong’s company specialized in surveillance equipment and did not have a large share in this area, with the largest project only worth five million. But for Shepherd, even the thought of a five million project was unimaginable.

It wasn’t that she lacked ambition, but she was well aware that with the company’s production capacity, even if they won a five million project, they might not be able to produce it on time. She simply couldn’t swallow such a big project.

After everyone finished recording, Lin Corporation’s personnel clarified the requirements for each project, and the tendering scene essentially came to an end. Everyone dispersed, and Mu Qingrong left with Manager Wang and Ye Qing.

Upon exiting the hall, Mu Qingrong was all smiles, ”Manager Wang, Ye Qing, I’ll leave the planning proposal to you two.”

Manager Wang was full of confidence, ”Rest assured, with me here, everything will be fine!”

Ye Qing didn’t speak, just nodded.
