Urban Martial Saint

Ye Qing’s heart could not help but tremble. In fact, he had looked down on Zhao Chengshuang before, and Zhao Chengshuang knew about it himself. Today, Ye led the team into the rescue, partly because he was moved by Ye Qing’s action, and on the other hand, he wanted to prove to Ye Qing that he was truly worthy of being his friend!

Ye Qing did not speak, just holding Zhao Chengshuang’s hand. From the moment Zhao Chengshuang jumped into that hole, Ye Qing had already regarded him as his own brother, a brother with whom he could share life and death!

”What time is it now, and you’re still saying such things!” Zhao Jianjun scolded, but looking at his son like this, what he felt more than anything was excitement. He had always thought his son was worthless, but this time, the incident had greatly shocked him and made him reevaluate his son.

Zhao Chengshuang looked at his father and said, ”I... I haven’t brought shame to the Zhao Family, none of our Zhao descendants... are weaklings...”

”The Zhao Family, none are weaklings!” Zhao Jianjun said with proud face, ”Chengshuang, even if you were covered with the national flag today, I’d have no regrets about you going in to rescue people!”

Deng Liyang spoke up from the side, ”Chengshuang, take a good rest. I have already reported this incident to the city bureau. Your heroic rescue is a new exemplary model for the Shenchuan City police department. The city bureau is about to hold a meeting to discuss how to commend the merits you’ve established this time!”

These words immediately energized Zhao Chengshuang. According to Deng Liyang, it was almost certain that he would turn bad luck into good and thus receive another medal. If he could get a second-class merit medal, he would be just like his two brothers!

”These things are not important, the key is that you need to recuperate well!” Now Zhao Jianjun did not attach great importance to the medals, his son’s actions and still being alive were what mattered most to him.

Zhao Chengshuang was indeed exhausted and fell into a deep sleep after exchanging a few words with Ye Qing.

Everyone also refrained from disturbing Zhao Chengshuang, left the ward and let the nurse take care of him.

Lin Tianyou was still waiting at the door, and after seeing everyone come out, he spoke with Zhao Jianjun for a bit before directly turning to Ye Qing.

”Ye brothers, are you free? I’m about to clock off from work. How about the two of us go out for a couple drinks? I have a lot of questions about medical skills I’d like to ask you.” Lin Tianyou said with a smile.

Ye Qing didn’t refuse and left with Lin Tianyou to sit down in a coffee shop nearby the hospital. Lin Tianyou ordered some food at random and began to ask about medical matters.

Lin Tianyou was really eager to learn in this area, and Ye Qing taught him some methods from the Acupoint Seeking Technique. These methods were relatively simple and could be used without Inner Strength. As for those more complex ones that required Inner Strength to use, Ye Qing was unable to teach them to Lin Tianyou.

Ye Qing did not hold back on any methods that Lin Tianyou could use. He understood that these methods in Lin Tianyou’s hands could truly shine and save more people.

However, just these methods alone had already amazed Lin Tianyou, who continuously marveled at the profoundness of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

There were many methods recorded in the Acupoint Seeking Technique, and even just discussing those that didn’t require Inner Strength, they couldn’t finish in a short while. The two of them talked until after 9 pm, and it was really late before Lin Tianyou reluctantly left.

”Ye brothers, how much longer will you be staying in Shenchuan City?” Lin Tianyou asked, truly afraid that Ye Qing would suddenly leave, which would be a loss for him.

”I’ll probably stay for a few more months,” Ye Qing replied. Now that Boss Lin’s people had all hidden themselves, and he couldn’t find his brother Ye Jun, he could only stay in Shenchuan City for the time being.

”Oh, that’s good.” Lin Tianyou was delighted, a few months’ time was enough for him to learn a lot.

Lin Tianyou drove Ye Qing back home, even specifically going upstairs to see Ye Qing’s door number, apparently planning to visit in person another day.

After dropping Ye Qing off at home, Lin Tianyou drove back to the hospital. It wasn’t his shift tonight, but with so many injured, he couldn’t help but worry and decided to return and check on them.

Fortunately, the situation of most of the injured was stable. Three people had died on the way to the hospital, but almost everyone else who arrived was saved.

But considering the situation at the scene, having only three people die in the accident was already quite fortunate. After all, nearly the entire building had collapsed, burying more than fifty people within.

Seeing everyone was all right, Lin Tianyou went to Zhao Chengshuang’s ward. In fact, he and Zhao Chengshuang were somewhat related. Zhao Chengshuang’s cousin Lin Huayu was Lin Tianyou’s own cousin.

There were now only three people standing in the ward, but all three held significant weight.

Apart from Zhao Jianjun, political commissar of the Shenchuan Military District, standing beside him was his older brother Zhao Jianguo, an old general who had been to the battlefields of Vietnam.

The third was a spirited old man, the Zhao Family patriarch, Zhao Jianguo and Zhao Jianjun’s father, Zhao Shilin. Though he held no official position now, as a close bodyguard of a first-generation founding dignitary, even at this age, his influence was extraordinary.

Including the elder, the Zhao Family could be described as a family with three exceptional members. However, with Zhao Chengshuang’s generation, the situation was slightly worse. Although Zhao Jianguo’s two sons were very outstanding, they still fell far short compared to the older generation.

Perhaps it was because heroes are shaped by their times, and in this era, it’s very difficult to achieve the same distinguished wartime accomplishments as in the turbulent past. Therefore, the elder didn’t have high expectations for the younger generation in the family.

Yet, having low expectations didn’t mean he would stand by and watch the family members indulge themselves. The youngest grandson, Zhao Chengshuang, was the one he found most worrisome. Profligate and irresponsible, he was viewed as someone who could potentially ruin the family. Thus, the elder held Zhao Chengshuang to high standards, precisely because he feared he might take a wrong path.

This time, however, the elder’s view of Zhao Chengshuang had changed significantly.

Zhao Jianguo consoled his brother, ”Jianjun, you don’t need to worry. Tianyou said it himself, his recovery is going well. After a few months of rest, he’ll be as lively as a dragon and animated as a tiger.”

Zhao Jianjun nodded, but there was still a hint of anguish in his eyes—after all, this was his only son.

Zhao Jianguo turned to his father, ”Dad, you don’t need to worry either. I think, all things considered, this incident is actually a blessing in disguise, as it shows that Chengshuang has grown up!”

Zhao Shilin nodded, ”Jianguo, you’re right. Regardless of the outcome, this incident is of great importance to Chengshuang. Because, through this event, we saw in Chengshuang the quality that Zhao family men must have, which is a sense of responsibility. As a man, one must be responsible. No matter what Chengshuang was like before, at least now, he’s learned to take responsibility, to be accountable.

With this understanding, he will be able to truly shoulder the responsibilities of the family in the future!”

Hearing the elder put it this way, Zhao Jianjun felt relieved and said, ”Father, actually, Chengshuang has been brimming with determination these past few years, wanting to do something to prove himself to us.”

”Having such determination is good enough!” The elder waved his hand dismissively, ”Jianguo, you stay here with Jianjun. When Chengshuang wakes up, give me a call.”

”Yes!” Zhao Jianguo nodded in agreement.

The elder, not in good health, didn’t stay long and left directly.

Lin Tianyou stood at the door. Seeing the family discussing matters among themselves, he felt it would be inappropriate to intrude.

Upon seeing the elder, Lin Tianyou quickly went up to greet him, ”Grandpa Zhao, how’s your old injury? Does it still hurt?”

”Ah!” Zhao Shilin sighed, ”It’s an old wound of three or four decades; I’m afraid it’s impossible to cure now. Whenever the weather changes, my whole body starts to ache. The medicine you gave me initially seemed somewhat effective, but later on, the effects became less and less noticeable. Do you think we should increase the dosage?”

”Absolutely not!” Lin Tianyou hurriedly waved his hands, ”Grandpa Zhao, that medicine can be addictive and lead to dependency. Taking too much of it isn’t good for your health. In fact, you should try to take as little as possible of what I’ve given you.”

”But I can’t not take it; when the pain flares up, it’s unbearable,” Zhao Shilin shook his head and sighed. Most from his generation who came from the battlefield were wounded. Thus, many were now plagued by various complex diseases. Even with their current status, once sickness struck, there wasn’t much to be done.

Lin Tianyou sighed. Such conditions were stubborn diseases, and to this day, there were no effective treatments. Although he was skilled in medicine, he was helpless against these ailments.

Lin Tianyou thought of Ye Qing and was struck by a sudden thought: Could Ye Qing possibly have a solution?

Lin Tianyou saw Zhao Shilin off, then went back to the ward to greet Zhao Jianguo and Zhao Jianjun, and to check on Zhao Chengshuang’s condition. Zhao Chengshuang was recovering well, which greatly relieved Zhao Jianjun.

Lin Tianyou then visited other wards; all the injured who had been brought in were now settled.

Moving from ward to ward, Lin Tianyou reached the last one where Chen Keai was chatting idly with Huo Pingping. Startled by Lin Tianyou’s entrance, Chen Keai quickly sprang up, standing erect with a stiff expression and a slight blush on her cheeks, whispering, ”Doctor Lin.”

Lin Tianyou didn’t notice Chen Keai’s expression and simply nodded casually, then checked on the patient at the bedside, asking, ”How are things?”

”Th-the... the patient’s indicators are normal...” Chen Keai spoke with a noticeable tremble in her voice.

”Oh.” Lin Tianyou nodded, then turned to leave. Suddenly, he looked back at Chen Keai, ”Nurse Chen, your voice seems a bit weak. Is it perhaps due to taking on too many night shifts recently? Not getting enough rest? How is the nursing station scheduling your shifts? You should be careful; overworking is not good for your health.”

”Ah, yes... yes...” Chen Keai’s tongue was practically tied in a knot. It wasn’t that her voice was weak, but rather that she was overly excited.

Lin Tianyou, oblivious to Chen Keai’s peculiarity, left to visit other wards.

As soon as Lin Tianyou left, Huo Pingping immediately grabbed Chen Keai and said, ”Cutie, you still dare say you’re not secretly in love with him!”
