Urban Martial Saint

After trying in vain at the entrance of Factory Area No. 1 to find the cause of the low product qualification rate in the design diagram, the two eventually hailed a cab. Mu Qingrong took out the design diagram in the car and scrutinized it carefully, hoping to discover the reason behind the low product qualification rate.

However, Mu Qingrong couldn’t possibly understand the contents of the circuit diagram, could she? After looking it over again and again, her efforts were ultimately futile. It seemed professional help was the only option.

Mu Qingrong was reluctant to seek professional help because technical experts were scarce in Shenchuan City and their fees were exceptionally high. Hiring someone to modify a design diagram would cost at least a few thousand yuan, and those with strong technical skills could even demand over ten thousand.

Gazing at the complex circuit diagram, Mu Qingrong couldn’t help but sigh. If the company had such a talent on staff, why would she be in such a passive position?

But, given the current state of the company, she really couldn’t afford to hire a professional.

Since Mu Qingrong couldn’t understand the design diagram, she closed it. Just as she did so, Ye Qing reached out to stop her.

”Let me have a look,” said Ye.

”You... You understand this?” Mu Qingrong looked at Ye Qing in surprise. In her mind, Ye Qing was an ex-military man; could he really understand such a circuit diagram?

Ye Qing answered, ”I minored in materials science at university, which included an electrical engineering course, so I know a little bit.”

”Really?” Mu Qingrong was even more surprised and curiously asked, ”You... You really went to university? Which university?”

”Northern University,” said Ye Qing, looking at Mu Qingrong. ”Haven’t I told you before?”

”Ah?” Mu Qingrong’s eyes widened, she suddenly remembered Ye Qing had indeed told her before. But she had always taken it as boasting and had never associated Ye Qing with Northern University.

Still, Ye Qing didn’t seem like someone who would brag. Could it be that he was truly a graduate of Northern University?

At this thought, Mu Qingrong’s mind immediately rejected the idea. Graduates of Northern University, what kind of figures they were? In Shenchuan City, they’d be considered top-notch executives. How could one possibly join her small company and even help her conduct business? Moreover, to save two yuan on bus fare, he commuted by foot every day.

He was the epitome of a tightwad, not at all like a graduate of Northern University!

Mu Qingrong misunderstood Ye Qing in this respect. Ye Qing chose to walk to and from work not just to save money, but also as a form of exercise. After being discharged from the military, he felt that his daily exercise routine wasn’t enough, so he used his commute to run and achieve the desired fitness level.

Nevertheless, Mu Qingrong handed the design diagram to Ye Qing. She was curious to see what, if anything, Ye Qing could discern from it.

While Mu Qingrong was checking the design diagram earlier, Ye Qing had already taken a cursory look. As he had mentioned, he had learned about electrical engineering at university, but he wasn’t a professional, so it was impossible for him to spot the problem in the diagram at a glance. However, after looking it over from start to finish, he felt there was something off about the circuit diagram.

As for where the exact issue lay, that would require more detailed study.

Ye Qing looked at the design diagram all the way home and still had not spoken by the time they arrived.

Mu Qingrong originally had a glimmer of hope, but as Ye Qing remained silent, her patience gradually wore thin. After arriving home and seeing that Ye Qing was still inspecting the design diagram, she went back to her room on her own.

Before long, Huo Pingping returned from work and, seeing Ye Qing with the design diagram, couldn’t help but pout and say, ”What are you looking at, soldier boy?”

Ye Qing did not answer. Huo Pingping leaned over to take a look and immediately started exclaiming as if she’d discovered a new continent, ”Yo, soldier boy, you can understand circuit diagrams?!”

Ye Qing still ignored her; he had pretty much figured out Huo Pingping’s personality. With her, if you engage, she will talk endlessly. In such situations, it’s best to turn a deaf ear and not give her an opening to continue.

Seeing that Ye Qing didn’t respond, Huo Pingping felt it was pointless and with a pout, commented, ”Keep looking, just don’t become a deaf-mute!”

After a while, Fang Tingyun also returned. Seeing Ye Qing like that, she approached, looked at the diagram, and asked curiously, ”Ye, what are you looking at?”

Huo Pingping muttered under her breath, ”Don’t bother with him; he’s just like a deaf-mute.”

Ye Qing looked up honestly at Fang Tingyun and said, ”It’s a design diagram for a product from Director Mu’s company.”

Huo Pingping immediately lost her temper, throwing a slipper at him and shouting, ”I’ve been asking you for so long and you didn’t even fart in response. Xiao Fangfang asks one question and you give such a long answer, are you biased or what?!”

Fang Tingyun smiled triumphantly, stuck her tongue out at Huo Pingping, and said, ”Ms. Ping, Ye is busy, don’t mess with him. Come on, help me cook.”

Huo Pingping gave Fang Tingyun a sidelong glance and said sarcastically, ”Wow, getting defensive already? Protecting your little calf, huh?”

Fang Tingyun’s face turned red, and not daring to look at Ye Qing, she pulled Huo Pingping into the kitchen.

Ye Qing had been examining the design diagram until it was time for dinner, having formed only a general idea in his mind, but the specific outcome would still require calculation to determine.

At the dinner table, Fang Tingyun and Huo Pingping were quite lively, excitedly discussing the Dayue Group’s public bidding.

”Das Group really hit the jackpot this time!” Huo Pingping said enviously, ”They won three projects, the most of any group. It’s not just about the seven million yuan project they got, the key is they’ve made a name for themselves. I reckon Das Group’s aiming to use this opportunity to break out and join the ranks of upper-middle-class enterprises.”

Fang Tingyun agreed, ”Yeah, our boss heard about this too and specifically inquired about what kind of products Das Group makes.”

”What exactly happened?” Huo Pingping asked curiously, as she was still in the dark about it all.

”Boss, you’re really out of the loop!” Huo Pingping rolled her eyes as she reiterated the whole story about Dayue Group’s bidding, particularly regarding Das Group.

Mu Qingrong was also shocked after hearing Huo Pingping’s words. She knew the capabilities of Das Group, and for them to achieve such a result in this bidding was truly extraordinary.

”Since when did Das Group have such business capabilities?” Mu Qingrong wondered.

”Who knows,” Huo Pingping replied, ”I heard that they hired an expert. That expert was responsible for the bidding today. In just two hours, they came up with three proposals, simply amazing!”

Fang Tingyun nodded, ”I heard the same thing—that expert appeared for the first time in Shenchuan City. No one in the industry had heard of him before. Those present at the bidding had never seen him before, and nobody knows where Das Group found him.”

Mu Qingrong’s mind wandered, imagining if her own company had such a talent, surely it would achieve greater development!

Ye Qing, sitting nearby, wasn’t listening to what the women were saying; he was still pondering over the design diagram. Thus, a topic that was relevant to him went entirely unnoticed.

After dinner, Ye Qing went back to look at the design diagram. Mu Qingrong saw his dedication and didn’t have the heart to say anything discouraging, letting him proceed. She had already decided to pay someone to review the design diagram the next day and make necessary modifications, as the company would surely suffer a great loss otherwise.

Ye Qing looked at the design diagram for a long time and then borrowed a calculator from Fang Tingyun before returning to his room.

The next morning, Mu Qingrong got up early to prepare for work. Just as she reached the doorway, she saw the company’s design diagram on the floor with a note containing remarks next to it.

Mu Qingrong picked up the design and saw that several parts had been marked. The accompanying note explained the annotations.

Upon a closer look, Mu Qingrong saw that the annotations were clear; the places marked on the design diagram were the problematic areas. Those sections used different diodes with only slightly varying functions. During normal production, those tiny diodes could easily be mixed up on the production line.

If installed incorrectly, it wouldn’t significantly impact their function, but the misaligned diodes would result in a defective product. Therefore, the low yield of acceptable products was mainly due to the diode issue.

Next to the problem, Ye Qing had written a specific modification solution that was actually quite simple: use the same type of diodes with slightly higher power, which would prevent mistakes. The products produced would have no difference in effectiveness, but it would save a significant amount on raw materials.

Looking at the annotations, Mu Qingrong, who didn’t understand these technical details, couldn’t tell if Ye Qing was right or wrong. However, just the fact that Ye Qing had made these annotations was beyond her expectations. One couldn’t do such a thing without real knowledge. Could it be that Ye Qing actually went to college?

Mu Qingrong stared at the design diagram for a while, then took out her phone and reported the modifications to Aunt Xia. Naturally, Mu Qingrong didn’t dare to implement them directly into production but decided to have Aunt Xia produce a few samples first to see the results. If Ye Qing’s modifications were correct, she wouldn’t need to spend money on further modifications.

After making the call, Mu Qingrong packed up and left the room. Ye’s door was wide open, and according to the clock, he should have been on his way to the company by now.

Thinking of Ye traveling on foot to work, Mu Qingrong felt an unexplainable warmth in her heart. No matter how the company was doing, having such a diligent employee made her feel content.

With no intention to walk to work, Mu Qingrong took a bus to the company. Arriving downstairs at the office building, she bought two cups of millet porridge and went upstairs.

In the office, Ye Qing had already arrived, nibbling on a steamed bun as usual.

Mu Qingrong placed a cup of porridge on his desk and said, ”Have some porridge, it’s good for your stomach.”

Ye Qing looked up, but Mu Qingrong didn’t meet his gaze and went straight back to her office. Her professional and efficient manner gave off a refreshingly beautiful aura.
