The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Meng Yunzheng ignored the pained expressions of the crowd and continued, ”When it rains, if you encounter a leaking roof, it can be very troublesome. Not only will the exam paper get wet, but people can also fall ill, so we need to learn how to repair roofs.”

”In windy weather, messy hair can easily obstruct our view and affect our exams, so we need to learn how to style our hair neatly.”

The more the crowd listened, the more conflicted their expressions became. Why did this exam involve so much trouble, as if they were going to suffer?

However, the little fat boy was very persistent about the issue of washing clothes, ”But Mountain Master Meng, none of the things you mentioned include washing clothes. During exams, we don’t need to wash clothes.”

Meng Yunzheng smiled and said, ”Naturally, you don’t need to wash clothes during exams, but is your life only about being alone in the exam room? Our academy is called Zhenglu Academy, and the ’road’ signifies the idea of reading ten thousand books and traveling ten thousand miles. In other words, besides studying at the academy, traveling to broaden your knowledge is also necessary. Of course, you could take an Attendant Student along, but doing so would greatly reduce your learning effectiveness. When crafting essays, can you still approach them from different angles and write something unique and practically useful?”

The crowd was stunned and began to ponder thoughtfully.

”Zhenglu Academy not only teaches academics but also teaches everyone how to be independent, how to handle unexpected situations, and how to easily resolve surprises. Just like in the exam room, no one knows what might happen. At that time, the only person who can help us is ourselves. If you know nothing, and although you excel academically, you can’t cook for yourself, repair a roof, or endure nine days of exams, what is the point?”

Meng Yunzheng didn’t want to say more; it was the first day of school, there was no rush, take it slowly.

”I’ve said everything I needed to. If anyone is still interested in enrolling at Zhenglu Academy, you can line up now. If you have any questions, you can ask these students individually; they will answer each of your queries.”

After he finished speaking, he stepped back.

Originally waiting students were suddenly swarmed by many people in front of them, question after question.

Some asked about tuition, some asked if they had to wash their own clothes and cook, some asked if they could rent a room at the academy to stay with their child since they lived far away.

Most of the questions were alright, but the last question was asked more frequently. After all, many students were not accustomed to living away from home, and the younger ones still needed their parents or servants to be with them.

Shurui responded on behalf of everyone, ”Once students enroll, outsiders are not allowed inside the academy. Firstly, to maintain the academy’s order and secondly, to ensure students’ safety. Of course, there are reception rooms by the gate, so if you want to pick up your child, you can wait in the reception room. Therefore, the academy does not provide accommodations for renting to parents.”

”If you want to rent a place, there are villager’s houses down the mountain which are all newly built and have very affordable and cheap prices, so they can serve as temporary accommodations.”

The so-called newly built houses by the villagers at the foot of the mountain are those near the workshop premises.

Earlier, when Shu Yu bought the land, many people followed suit, especially several stewards and employees in the workshop, and they have been gradually building houses over the past two years.

Although some wages were high, the money spent on buying the land and building houses still depleted their family savings. Fortunately, the houses were brand new, and they could be rented out.
