The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu naturally agreed to these small requests.

Not only does Ying Xi want to buy them, but Shu Yu also wants to give them as gifts. However, she’s not in a hurry and waits until shortly before the child is born when it’s still time to prepare.

But with Hua Xian being pregnant, at least from pregnancy to breastfeeding, and even before the child can run and jump, she won’t be able to serve the old lady closely.

The old lady is getting older, and it is necessary to have a quick and clever maid by her side.

As for Hua Xian, having been with the old lady for several years, she is most familiar with her lifestyle habits, so she can be a leisure steward lady, managing the affairs of the old lady’s courtyard.

Shu Yu pondered over asking the old lady’s opinion later, and perhaps promote a maid.

Indeed, Ying Xi went out early the next morning. Meng Yunzheng was also not at home; he went to Zhenglu Academy to finalize the opening day procedures with Master Wen and others.

Shu Yu was at home, contemplating preparing things for Meng Yunzheng, as he plans to travel southwest after the school starts.

Last time going southwest, Shu Yu managed all the travel matters herself, and now it’s her turn.

Ying Xi returned at noon, carrying large and small packages and with a big bundle on her back, huffing and puffing into the courtyard.

Shu Yu, ”...”

Was it necessary to buy so much?

Shu Yu helped her unload the things from her back. Ying Xi opened the boxes and took out a silver lock and a pair of silver bracelets, ”Miss, do you think these look good?”

Shu Yu was surprised, ”This must cost quite a bit, right? Do you still have enough money?”

”Enough.”

Shu Yu found it odd, ”I see you usually buy quite a lot of food; you still manage to save so much money?”

She knew most of Ying Xi’s money was spent on food, especially in the capital, where she would take the opportunity to explore where delicious food was found, not missing those found deep in the alleys.

The prices in the capital are not cheap; she ate for several months, and it seemed unlikely she would still be well-off.

To her surprise, Ying Xi said something startling, ”Those food items were all bought by Xia Yan; I didn’t actually spend much.”

Shu Yu widened her eyes and looked Ying Xi up and down, ”All the food was bought by Xia Yan? Is he really that generous?”

”He has other motives.”

”What motives?”

Ying Xi snorted coldly, ”He wants to win me over and curry favor with me, hoping I will reveal more about your news, so he can gain favor with the Lord. But I am smart; I haven’t said a word. I won’t spit out what I ate.”

Shu Yu, ”...”

As someone who has been through this, she felt she had guessed something, yet after hearing Ying Xi’s words, she wasn’t so sure of her guesses anymore.

”By the way, Miss, when I went out, I found there were many new faces in the county town.”

Shu Yu snapped out of it, ”What new faces?”

”They seem to be scholars; I heard people say they came for the Lord’s academy. Now, all the inns in the county town are full, and there are people lodging in many local households. When I went to Yiren Pavilion, Baoya was there, and she said someone had asked about rooms at their house early this morning. Third Uncle vacated three rooms to rent them out.”

Shu Yu wasn’t surprised at all by Third Uncle’s eagerness to make money.

Ying Xi, ”Originally, our side didn’t know much about the academy hiring two teachers, but I heard that a lot of people came from the capital. They spread the news about the Lord’s deeds in the capital, and even the scholars in the neighboring state are crazy about coming here now.”
