The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Of course, if there are special circumstances, they will be treated specially.

These are the enrollment requirements for the Enlightenment Class. After the Enlightenment Class, students will be admitted according to their academic titles.

Those who have completed the Enlightenment Class but are still commoners will have four classes. This group currently has the most people; Erniu and Dabao are among them. If there are more students in the future, more classes will be added.

Next, those who have participated in the county and academy exams and have become child students will have two provisional classes.

Then come the Scholars. Most Scholars study at the county school. However, Meng Yunzheng has already recruited a few of them...

Finally, we have the scholarly examination candidates, which are even fewer. Currently, Zhenglu Academy does not have any scholarly examination students.

But there’s no rush; with two teachers here, there will soon be some. Even if they don’t enroll, staying at the academy for over half a year and then passing the Advanced Scholar exam would still count as Zhenglu Academy’s quota.

Not to mention, back in the capital, Xun Sheng and others were planning to come over. As they are traveling and heading towards Dongan Province, they should arrive soon.

”That’s the enrollment situation. Now, let’s talk about accommodation. The academy has dormitories, with four people per room. Those under eight years old are allowed to stay at home but must attend school on time. Those over eight must live on campus and can only go home during breaks. If there’s a need, they can request leave and be allowed to return home with a valid reason.”

Upon hearing this, the crowd erupted into buzzing discussions.

A chubby child around ten years old asked, ”Mountain, Mountain Master, can I bring an Attendant Student?”

Meng Yunzheng smiled and said, ”No.”

”If I have to live at the academy and can’t bring an Attendant Student, who will wash my clothes?”

Meng Yunzheng replied, ”You can wash them yourself.”

The chubby child widened his eyes, and not just him; other children from servant-having families also looked at him incredulously.

”I don’t know how to wash clothes.”

”You can learn.”

The chubby child was about to cry, ”But, but I’m here to study, not to wash clothes.”

Some parents nearby also felt Meng Yunzheng was being unreasonable. They sent their children to study, so why should they wash clothes? At home, there are servants, and even without them, mothers usually do the laundry—it’s not the children’s responsibility, is it?

Meng Yunzheng remained patient, ”You are here to study, but not just for studying. You are still young and may not understand many things. Now that you have the chance, let me tell you about my experiences during the scholarly examination.”

This was about to impart some experiences.

Everyone’s eyes lit up, and they immediately sat up straight, ready to listen to Mountain Master Meng.

Meng Yunzheng said, ”The scholarly examination lasts for nine days, which I suppose you all know. During these nine days and six nights, we have to spend the entire time in the Examination Hall. As for the Examination Hall, I think many of you don’t really know it. It’s this long.”

He gestured next to the desk, ”Not even as long as this desk. And our eating, drinking, and sleeping are all done in this small space.”

The older students knew this well, but the younger ones, like the chubby child and their parents, looked bewildered, tightly furrowing their brows.

”When sleeping, we have to dismantle the desk board and lay it flat. This board isn’t light, so we need strength. While eating, we either eat dry rations or use the small stove and charcoal provided by the Examination Hall to cook something warm. The Imperial Examination takes place during the coldest time in the capital, and not eating something warm easily results in illness, so we need to learn how to start a fire and cook.”
