The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

June 25th, weather: clear.

A swift line of carriages and crowds on the avenue outside the city formed a long dragon, slowly moving towards the nearby hill.

Ms. Kang in the carriage marveled, ”I didn’t expect so many people to come, this is quite exaggerated.”

Madam Hou, who was in the same carriage, laughed, ”With the imperial plaque from the emperor, two great scholars presiding, the top scorer who recently caused a stir among the scholars, and Mr. Shanju’s two landscape paintings. So many sensational and attractive events, how could there not be a lot of people? Only the timing is tight, places a bit further away don’t know yet, if the time were longer, I fear more people would come.”

Ms. Kang nodded, ”True, my husband came particularly for the two teachers, didn’t he?”

”Scholar Yao didn’t come back yesterday?”

Ms. Kang helplessly said, ”Exactly, Yunzheng took care of him, when he went to pick up the two teachers yesterday, he specifically brought him along. As a result, he hasn’t returned after going, probably forgot about us mother and son.”

Madam Hou, ”He’s just eager to pass the imperial exam early, to get you a title sooner, how could he forget about you two?”

Ms. Kang pursed her lips and laughed, didn’t refute.

The two didn’t arrive too early or too late, so the carriage was amid the crowds.

The carriage could reach halfway up the mountain, at the parking spot originally opened by the black market, conveniently for them.

The black market previously had people coming and going, in and out were people with money and power, so this halfway place was quite spacious, carriages could park.

Ms. Kang and her party reached halfway up the mountain, naturally someone was there to receive them.

Coincidentally, the one leading this batch up the mountain was Shurui.

He wore a scholar robe, stood tall and straight, though not very tall, still appeared proper, thoughtful, and courteous.

Seeing Ms. Kang and Madam Hou, Shurui smiled at them as a greeting, then immediately said to the others, ”Please come this way, everyone take a little trouble, this part of the way has to be walked. If anyone has inconvenience, please tell me in advance, and I’ll find someone to assist.”

And indeed, someone in the crowd didn’t want to climb the mountain, looking at the winding path up, wanted to find someone to carry him.

Previously, the black market had such services, even temples built on mountains had manual carriers earning money.

But not here, students of Zhenglu Academy not only have to climb mountains but also attend physical education and extracurricular practice, even a large plot at the mountain foot is opened for growing vegetables and fruits.

Hence everyone has to climb themselves, even those not academy students today get no privileges.

Someone in the crowd indeed raised a hand wanting to ask for someone to carry him up.

Yet before he spoke, Ms. Kang laughed and asked, ”Mumu, will you climb the mountain yourself, or need help?”

Little Yao Mumu proudly said, ”I can climb myself, small in size but very capable. This little mountain, I’ll zoom up. Mother, don’t underestimate me, I’ll be embarrassed.”

Everyone, ”...”

The person raising his hand looked at the three-headed little Douding, then at himself, silently lowered his hand.

Shurui laughed, ”Since no one needs help, let’s head up. But there’s a particularly brave young child in the group, let’s walk a bit slower.”
