The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

These matters were no longer concerning Shuyu and Meng Yunzheng.

The wedding preparations were plentiful and complex, especially with County Lord Shuyu’s status, as the authorities also paid attention and sent a nanny to assist.

Lord Fei from the magistrate even dispatched someone over, as the county lord’s wedding had its protocol.

However, Shuyu had already received the Emperor’s permission and didn’t want to complicate things, opting for a simple familial wedding, keeping everyone at home comfortable.

Thus, Lord Fei didn’t elaborate much, only advising that if assistance was needed, they should just send someone over.

Shuyu agreed, and amidst the busy preparations, Zhao Xi’s convoy finally arrived in the county town, albeit delayed, six days before the wedding.

Shuyu and her companion went to the city gate to receive them, but others like Uncle Meng’s family, Yao Po’s family, Madam Hou and her daughters, and Aunt Hong found it very curious, as it was their first visit.

Ms. Kang immediately ran over, exclaiming, ”Yu, when we came over, we passed by the sunflower field; it was incredibly beautiful, none of us wanted to leave. Mumu almost climbed out the carriage window insisting on going over to play. Your brother said that field belongs to you, is it the landscape painted by Mr. Shanju?”

Madam Hou and others stepped forward, their eyes bright as they looked at her.

Shuyu laughed, ”Yes, you came at the perfect time, the sunflowers are blooming right now. You should look from a high point another day; that’s when the scenery is truly breathtaking.”

”From a high point? Do you mean the hill where Top Scholar Meng’s academy is located?”

”Yes, today, first rest at home. In a couple of days, I’ll have someone take you to see it.”

Ms. Kang waved her hand, ”No hurry, the wedding is more important now, you’re already busy enough, you don’t need to entertain us.”

Shuyu thought it through and indeed, there was no rush, conversing as she led everyone into the city.

The Lu family’s courtyard was spacious and ample, so Madam Hou and the Yao Family, along with Aunt Hong, were all accommodated at home.

Uncle Meng’s family, were to stay with Meng Pei at the Meng family residence.

Unexpectedly, when Little Huohuo wanted to return to the Zhao family in the evening, Mumu insisted on following him. The two little ones behaved as if they were parting forever, refusing to separate.

There was no other choice, ultimately the Yao family moved to Zhao Xi’s residence.

The Zhao family also had Old Doctor Zhao, who now very much enjoyed having children around, delighted when Huohuo returned and even happier with the little companion brought along. The previously quiet house was lively again, the two lively little ones nearly overturning the roof.

During a free moment, Meng Yunzheng asked Zhao Xi about the situation in Huajiang Prefecture, to which Zhao Xi replied, ”We stayed a day at Huajiang Prefecture, and I went to inquire at the wealthy household that married Ms. Wei; just like Wei Tang said, that house had fallen, with their shops and properties taken over by others. Within a year, their servants had either been sold or left, and the wealthy family now lived in a small courtyard.”

”I asked their previous butler who had searched for Ms. Wei after she disappeared. He only said he couldn’t find her but suspected she went to the docks. So I went to look at the docks, and sure enough, someone had seen Ms. Wei.”

Zhao Xi had a portrait of Ms. Wei. Although she had been missing for a year, she had bumped into the witness in a rush at the time, and the witness had grabbed and argued with her until bitten by Ms. Wei, leaving a lasting impression.

Initially, when that wealthy family sought her, they also carried Ms. Wei’s portrait in hand.
