The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Outside the door, Xia Yan and Ying Xi exchanged a knowing glance and looked at the sky.

Goodness, it’s already been half an hour since Xia Yan spoke up about it.

Meng Yunzheng took Shu Yu to the flower hall, had a simple breakfast, and then instructed the servants to prepare food and move it to the bamboo forest.

There weren’t many people at home; Meng Pei took away Uncle Meng’s family, along with Aunt Hong and Little Song Le.

Besides a few busy servants, it was just the two of them.

This was also Meng Pei’s intention. Since Yu had just become a bride of the Meng family, she would definitely have many adjustments to make. Even though everyone was familiar with each other, he still left her plenty of time and space to be at ease.

The bamboo forest on the south side of the courtyard was originally there, and it grew very tall.

During the previous restoration, everyone liked it very much, so they kept it.

Now, it’s a perfect spot for cooling off during the summer.

Shu Yu sat on the couch, and Ying Xi brought her an abundance of food and tea. A breeze blew through, causing Shu Yu to let out a contented sigh.

Then, in the fluttering bamboo leaves, Meng Yunzheng’s sword suddenly lifted, and his figure moved swiftly among the bamboo, adding an inexplicable aura of immortality, free and graceful.

Shu Yu watched, momentarily distracted from eating. Yun’s sword dance was so carefree and natural, perfectly matching his choice to remain an idle teacher instead of entering the court as an official.

Now that he was married, had become the top scorer, and opened the academy he always wanted, this feeling was even more apparent.

Shu Yu found herself inexplicably captivated.

When Meng Yunzheng sheathed his sword and landed beside her, her eyes were still slightly dazed.

Meng Yunzheng raised an eyebrow, ”What’s wrong, my dear?”

”...Not bad, you deserve a reward.”

Shu Yu instantly snapped back to reality, clapped her hands sincerely, and with a serious tone, placed a peeled grape into his mouth, ”Is it sweet?”

”Sweet.” Meng Yunzheng looked steadily at her, ”But isn’t this reward a bit too small? After all, I danced for quite a while, and I’m all sweaty.”

Shu Yu used a handkerchief to wipe his sweat, ”How about this?”

”Not enough.”

Shu Yu poured him a cup of tea.

”Still not enough.”

Shu Yu, ”You’re being insatiable.”

”I can’t help it. Your first-ever reward left a deep impression on me, and it raised my expectations.”

Shu Yu remembered the time when he became the Second Scorer, and in her excitement, she kissed him.

Indeed, once a man has tasted sweetness, it can be frightening, and he’s no longer content with plain noodles.

Shu Yu glanced around, and besides Ying Xi and Xia Yan, there was no one else.

The two were quite smart, already turning around and pretending to be busy looking at the sky and ground when Meng Yunzheng approached.

Shu Yu’s lips twitched, and she pressed a kiss on the corner of Meng Yunzheng’s mouth.

This time she reacted quickly, learning from her experience, and pulled away swiftly before Meng Yunzheng could hold down the back of her head. She got up and headed out of the bamboo forest, ”I’m going to the cellar to get some ice and prepare something tasty for you all.”

With that, she called to Ying Xi, ”Let’s go, help me prepare some things.”

”Sure, miss.”

Meng Yunzheng watched the master and servant duo walk farther away, chuckled lightly, and sat down on the couch to eat a couple of grapes.

Shu Yu was off to make fruit ice, which was perfect since there wasn’t much to do, and there were ready-made ice and fruits at home.

She went to the kitchen to get grapes and watermelon, as well as peaches and mangoes, some of which had been given as gifts at the wedding the day before, and others purchased by the Meng family. There were quite a lot, especially the grapes, which hung in large, tempting bunches.
