The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1050: Chapter 1050: Yao Tianqin Gets Promoted

Xiang Weinan acted as if he didn’t see County Magistrate Zhang approaching, leading Shu Yu to the front of the cart and uncovering the cloth on top.

Right now, in front of everyone, everyone was watching intently.

As soon as the cloth was pulled away, many exquisite boxes were revealed underneath.

Xiang Weinan’s voice was neither high nor low, “These two larger gift boxes are from Minister of Public Works Yao Tianqin, a gift for your Coming-of-age Ceremony.”

Minister of Public Works?

Shu Yu looked at him in surprise. Previously, Yao Tianqin was only the Vice Minister of Ministry of Industry, and now he had already become a minister?

Xiang Weinan smiled and nodded to her, yes, Yao Tianqin had indeed been promoted.

The original two vice ministers of the Ministry of Industry, one was Gong Qiu, and the other was also one of Gong Qiu’s people. Their direct superior, the Minister of the Ministry of Industry, was an elderly figure serving more as a mascot.

Thus, the entire Ministry of Industry was effectively in Gong Qiu’s hands. Though he was merely a third-ranked official, the power he held was no different from that of a first-ranked chief.

Now, the situation in the capital was ever-changing. Gong Qiu was a man of the Second Prince, and whether it was the Fifth Prince or the Third Prince, they would both make a move against him.

As he was not easy to tackle, they began addressing those around him.

As a result, the other Minister of Public Works was demoted, and the recently popular Yao Tianqin was naturally promoted.

Yao Tianqin did not belong to any faction and was focused solely on practical work, thus facing no obstacles in his promotion.

Now, when his title was mentioned by Xiang Weinan, everyone present was taken aback.

Minister of Public Works sending a gift for Monarch Lu Xiang’s Coming-of-age?

County Magistrate Zhang also turned her gaze sharply to Shu Yu, but Xiang Weinan’s speech was clearly not over, as she pointed to the next three or four boxes and said, “These are gifts from Lord Tutor Qi.”

Lord Tutor?

County Magistrate Zhang gasped; she didn’t know Yao Tianqin, but she certainly knew who Qi Chan was.

It must be the Mister Qi she knew, the one heavily trusted by the emperor, who commands respect from all the princes and princesses when he steps out?

Why, why would he also send gifts to Lu Shuyu?

Others also swallowed hard; the backing of this Monarch Lu Xiang was intimidating. For such a prominent figure to send her gifts, was it not one of a kind?

Even the County Magistrate in front of her likely didn’t receive such treatment.

Xiang Weinan smiled, “Mister Qi sent a message through someone, saying that back in the southwest, he intended to prepare a gift for your Coming-of-age Ceremony. However, later you offered the heating pack, were enfeoffed as Monarch and returned to Jiangyuan County, while Mister Qi had to return to the capital to resume his duties, missing your Coming-of-age Ceremony, which he deeply regretted. But your gift was not to be missed. These few gift boxes are what he meticulously prepared; he wanted me to tell you, happy birthday.”

Shu Yu was genuinely surprised. Her initial friendship with Mister Qi had some elements of utility. If Mister Qi had not been a Lord Tutor, she certainly wouldn’t have had so much interaction with him now.

Unexpectedly, having returned to the capital and amidst his endless duties, he still remembered her upcoming Coming-of-age and sent gifts through someone.

“Mister Qi and Lord Yao are truly considerate.”

“As for what’s inside these gift boxes, I do not know either. You can open them slowly when you return,” Xiang Weinan said with a smile, “Mister Qi also mentioned that if you and your family have the chance to visit the capital, you must look for him.”

“Okay, I will.”
