The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1017: Chapter 1017: There are More Than Ten Rooms

Lu Dasong had no choice but to put the items he had bought behind the counter, said a few words to the old lady, and then left with Madam Li.

Actually, he was quite surprised to learn about Sanzhu’s plan to buy a house; he hadn’t heard about it before.

When it comes to houses and vehicles, few men can remain completely indifferent or uninterested.

Lu Dasong also found himself itching to take a look, so when Madam Li suggested it, he hesitated briefly before deciding to go along.

However, they were traveling on foot, while Shu Yu and the others were riding a mule carriage, which had already arrived at the location Madam Liang mentioned.

This place wasn’t in the same alley as the one where she had been renting a house; the environment here was slightly better, separated from the rental location by just one street.

The house Madam Liang had her eye on was situated in the middle of the alley, and standing under the eaves at the entrance was the intermediary who had shown the house to her.

The weather was hot, and the intermediary was fanning himself as he stood near the street corner with a slightly impatient look.

When he saw the mule carriage coming, he didn’t think much of it. But when the mule carriage stopped in front of him, he froze for a moment.

Madam Liang stepped down from the carriage, and the intermediary’s eyes lit up. ”Oh, she had to hitch a ride on a donkey cart earlier to get there, and now she’s riding in a mule carriage on her way back?”

This deal might have potential.

The intermediary approached and greeted her with a broad smile, ”Sister-in-law Lu, you’re finally here. Just earlier, another family came to see the house and said they’re planning to go back and gather the money.”

Madam Liang’s expression shifted subtly, a trace of anxiety crossing her mind.

But Shu Yu had just advised her not to act overly eager, or else it would make negotiating the price more difficult.

Madam Liang was aware of this reasoning, but after losing out to others on a house she had previously set her heart on, she couldn’t help but feel flustered.

Now, with Shu Yu by her side, Madam Liang felt much more composed.

She smiled politely at the intermediary and said, ”Well, let them gather their money then. This house isn’t cheap; it’s not so easy to pull together the funds.”

The intermediary hesitated upon hearing this response, slightly taken aback.

He could only offer an awkward laugh, but then he noticed several more young people stepping out from the mule carriage.

The intermediary looked puzzled; didn’t Madam Liang say earlier that she was going back to discuss it with her husband?

Shu Yu raised her eyes to take in the house before her. From the outside, it looked quite decent and seemed to have been refurbished in the past two years. But who knew what the inside was like?

Madam Liang turned to the intermediary and said, ”Open the door for us. We’ll take a look inside – if it’s suitable, we’ll buy; if not, we’ll keep looking elsewhere.”

The intermediary didn’t quite understand her approach, but as they were his guests, he proceeded to open the door with warm hospitality.

Lanhua and Erniu curiously peered into the house, and when Shu Yu walked in, they hurriedly followed her inside.

”Wow, this house is so spacious!”

Actually, houses in the county town, unless they were two- or three-courtyard layouts, tended to be smaller compared to houses in the villages.

But among county town houses, this one did stand out for its size.

Lanhua and Erniu had seen the courtyard where the Lu family’s second household from Liufang Alley was renting. Neither the residential area nor the workshop there could compare to this expansive courtyard.

Shu Yu was also a bit surprised. This house was technically just a single courtyard, but it included a row of guest rooms, with five rooms in a single row.

Counting the main wife’s quarters, the side rooms, the east and west wings, plus the kitchen, toilet, and storage rooms, the total number of rooms added up to over a dozen. Even better, there was a small backyard at the rear, complete with a little well.

No wonder Madam Liang was instantly drawn to it, rushing off to borrow money for fear that someone else might snatch it up.
