The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1039: Chapter 1039: Ying Dong Loses Composure

Shu Yu followed the group to the front courtyard, where the eastern facility of the main house had been set up—the East Room.

She sat quietly in the East Room, waiting. Before long, the music outside began, and guests started arriving one after another.

Most of the attendees were women, and those viewing the ceremony were not many, totaling only a dozen or so.

Besides the Lu family, there were also two female elders from Shangshi Village who had been brought over last night.

And... Zhao Xi and Meng Yunzheng, along with Ding Yuehua, who arrived early this morning.

Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi stood in a corner, where if others were not paying attention, they could hardly be seen.

Today, Ding Yuehua attended as Yu’s assistant, helping Yu with the ceremony.

From taking their positions, bowing once, adding more incense, bowing twice, bowing thrice, listening to the words, to the conclusion of the ceremony, and thanking the guests, through this series of processes, Shu Yu ended up with sweat all over.

The main issue was the current weather, which was too hot.

Finally, the ceremony concluded, and the old lady hurried over to hand Shu Yu a handkerchief, whispering, ”Alright, go to the back courtyard to freshen up a bit. Look at your head, it’s all sweaty. We’ll be outside to welcome the guests; cool down before you come out.”

”Alright.”

Shu Yu returned alone to Yu Garden. Though she couldn’t take a bath, she rinsed off with cold water and finally felt comfortable.

She had been dressed a bit too warmly; now after shedding some layers, Shu Yu felt refreshed as she walked out of the bathroom.

Who would have thought, upon exiting, that Meng Yunzheng was already standing outside Yu Garden waiting for her?

”Why are you here?”

Meng Yunzheng smiled, ”To chat with you.” After a pause, he said softly, ”I’m leaving for the capital this evening.”

Shu Yu’s smile froze, ”So soon?”

”Yes.” So today he didn’t have much time to speak with her alone and could only seize every opportunity to see her.

Shu Yu knew exactly what he would face when going to the capital and couldn’t help feeling a bit worried, ”Is everything arranged over there in the capital?”

”Rest assured, I promise to come back safely to see you, won’t let anything happen, everything will be flawless.”

Although he said this, she feared he would face people like Gong Qiu, who were ruthless and might recklessly bring everything down in flames.

Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but admonish him a few more times.

Meng Yunzheng quietly listened; at this moment, he just wanted to hear her voice more.

The two talked as they walked towards the front courtyard.

Meng Yunzheng held a fan in his hand, occasionally fanning her while nodding from time to time.

As they approached the Gate of Drooping Flowers, they saw a figure running towards them.

Getting closer, they recognized it was Ying Dong, who stood behind the Gate of Drooping Flowers, ”Second Miss, over there...”

As he spoke, his gaze naturally fell on Meng Yunzheng, pondering whether this person was the famed Sir Meng.

He nodded slightly to Meng Yunzheng and was about to continue speaking.

But as he opened his mouth, something suddenly came to mind, and he turned around sharply, looking back at Meng Yunzheng, ”You, you are Meng Yunzheng?”

He learned from his sister that her friend Sir Meng was the future second grandnephew-in-law, but Ying Xi never mentioned his real name, only calling him Sir Meng.

Now upon their first meeting, Ying Dong couldn’t help losing composure.

Meng Yunzheng also looked at the person in front of him, and after a moment, rare joy appeared on his face, ”Lin Dong??”
