The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1002: Chapter 1002: Prepare a Room for Ah Ning

The problem is, there aren’t enough sunflower seeds right now, and the remaining land can only be planted with other crops that can grow on salt-alkali land.

Crops with good salt-alkali tolerance do exist, like Lobama and goji berries.

But the issue with these crops is that either their growing cycles are too long or they aren’t suitable for planting in this season.

Sunflowers can be harvested in a little over a hundred days. What if other crops only grow halfway? You wouldn’t want to cut them down, but if you don’t, there’s no time to plant the next batch of sunflowers. Wouldn’t this become an endless cycle?

Shu Yu thought it over and realized that out of all the crops available in the Dasu dynasty right now, broccoli was the most suitable.

Broccoli is also alfalfa.

This crop has high yield, can be used as food, has medicinal value, and is even called the king of forage.

Most importantly, it can be harvested several times a year, ensuring that no part of the land goes to waste.

When Daniu heard this, the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but lift into a smile. ”Alright, then we’ll plant broccoli.”

He perked up and said energetically, ”Tomorrow I’ll head back to the county town to check for broccoli seeds and get them planted as soon as possible.”

”No need, I’ve already asked someone to help locate the seeds. They’ll be delivered in a day or two.”

”That works too.” With that, he decided to take people tomorrow to loosen up the soil. It’s going to take quite a bit of time to till all this land. ”But, Yu, once all this broccoli is planted, who are we going to sell it to?”

This was indeed a big question—after all, it was eighty acres of broccoli.

Shu Yu replied, ”Sell it to Donggu County.”

”Donggu County?”

”Yes, Miss Ding’s sister-in-law has a farm in Donggu County where they raise quite a bit of livestock. They’re in dire need of forage crops. Miss Ding already spoke with her sister-in-law about it—once we grow it, they’ll buy all of it.”

Yesterday, Ding Yuehua mentioned this to Shu Yu, saying that although the Wu Family deals in livestock, their operation isn’t very large. This area is hardly like the grasslands, where forage crops are supplied in large quantities.

The local farmers here wouldn’t forsake planting food crops to grow forage like this.

The Wu Family does grow some themselves, but it’s not enough. Because of this, they’re unable to raise more livestock or poultry.

If Shu Yu dedicates these eighty acres to alfalfa, the Wu Family would be overjoyed and would surely buy all of it.

Of course, even if they won’t buy, it wouldn’t be a problem—the crop can be used as food or medicine. Besides, there’s such a large market in Dongan Province, there are bound to be other families dealing in livestock. Selling a bit to each would get rid of all the stock anyway.

Upon hearing this, Daniu felt reassured. With both a target and a fallback plan, he became incredibly excited.

The pair of siblings continued discussing as they made their way back to the manor.

Ah Ning had already toured the entire manor and was planning to go outside to look for them when she saw them coming back.

The young girl immediately ran over. ”Second Sister, can I come here often in the future?”

She knew that Little Ya’er, after coming here today, would not be returning to the county town with her and would stay here instead.

During the past few days, the two young girls had become close friends, and she felt a bit reluctant to part.

Though Little Ya’er couldn’t travel into town, she herself could always visit. Second Sister often came to the manor to check on the sunflowers, so she could come along with Second Sister.

Shu Yu nodded, ”If you want to come, then come.”

Zhou Qiao, standing nearby, laughed and said, ”I’ll prepare a room for Ah Ning. Whenever she wants to visit, she can come, stay here for a few days, and afterward, your Brother Daniu can take her back.”

”Really?”

”Really. Ah Ning, you can pick whichever room you want to stay in.”
