The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1028: Chapter 1028: The Mansion is Repaired

The marriage proposal went smoothly, and the arrangement was officially settled for both parties.

Next came the rituals: betrothal gifts, name inquiry, auspicious blessings, formal engagement, setting the date, and finally the wedding ceremony.

After finishing this series of tasks, ten days had already passed.

The agreed-upon wedding date was set for the end of the year.

When the proposal was made, Old Doctor Zhao wasn’t present, but the wedding couldn’t proceed without him. If it weren’t for waiting for his mentor to arrive, Zhao Xi would have been eager for the wedding to happen next month.

He had already sent a letter back and gave Old Doctor Zhao plenty of time to travel at his own pace.

Now that the marriage arrangement was settled, Zhao Xi felt a sense of relief.

Meanwhile, the large mansion on Fenghuai Street had been completely renovated, and Lu Erbai picked a date — two days later was deemed suitable for moving in.

When Shu Yu first heard about the timing, she was stunned. ”Isn’t this a bit too rushed?”

”No, not at all,” Lu Erbai said. ”I had someone calculate it; in the next two months, that particular day is the most auspicious.”

After all, Yu’s Coming-of-age Day was just a few days away, and such an important occasion would be unsuitable to celebrate in the rented courtyard.

Upon hearing this, Shu Yu didn’t say much more.

Truth be told, she also wanted to move into the mansion on Fenghuai Street as soon as possible.

The house had been fully completed yesterday, and the craftsmen had already received their wages and left.

The furniture inside had all been arranged, and with just some cleaning over the next two days, they could move in without any issues.

Besides, there wasn’t much concern about formaldehyde in those times; since the date was set, they could just move in.

However, before moving, they needed to return to Shangshi Village.

The Lu family’s ancestral graves had been repaired, and they couldn’t neglect paying their respects.

The next day, the family bought offerings and supplies, borrowed a carriage from Meng Yunzheng, and brought along Lu Sanzhu’s family to head straight to Shangshi Village.

At the same time, Daniu and Zhou Qiao from the manor also departed.

Lu Dasong was already waiting at home, and when everyone arrived, they drank a couple of sips of tea before heading to the mountain without delay.

The path up the mountain had already been leveled significantly and even had steps built. It wasn’t just convenient for others; even the old lady walked much steadier this time.

Leading the way in front, Lu Dasong said as they walked, ”Back then, Yu told me to fix this mountain path too. I thought it was unnecessary. Now that it’s done, I realize how convenient it is. Everyone in the village uses this path to visit the mountain now. Even the village chief came over to thank me... We’re almost there. Mother, take it slow.”

Standing on the steps at the mountain’s summit, the old lady looked at the newly repaired ancestral graves, completely transformed from what they used to be, and her finger trembled slightly.

She turned to glance behind her, found the mound of her late husband’s grave, and couldn’t help but wipe away her tears.

Good, it’s very good. Though her husband couldn’t enjoy a life of prosperity or live in a large house when he was alive, at least his grave had been properly restored.

She slowly exhaled, taking out the offerings and paper money.

The Lu family didn’t stay on the mountain for long this time; after burning the paper, they headed back.

At home, Madam Li and a few daughters-in-law had already prepared lunch, waiting for the whole family to return.

Madam Li finally saw Daniu again. That rascal had quietly run off to the manor without saying a word. She hadn’t gotten the chance to settle accounts with him, but today, she finally saw him.

However, with so many people around and Daniu constantly talking to Yu, seemingly discussing the crops at the manor, she couldn’t find an opportunity to pull him aside.
