The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1011: Chapter 1011 Madam Li Knows Nothing

Shu Yu was momentarily stunned. No way, did Eldest Aunt not know that Brother Daniu and his wife had gone to the manor?

Madam Li really didn’t know. After speaking, she was about to head inside. ”That Daniu’s wife is really something. We’ve been here for half the day, and she still hasn’t come out. She must be slacking off.”

The old lady reached out and blocked her path. ”Enough, Daniu’s wife isn’t here.”

”Not here?” Madam Li immediately stopped in her tracks. ”Then where did she go?”

”Daniu and his wife went to the manor outside the city. They’re planting sunflowers there and living on the manor now.” The old lady said this while looking suspiciously at Madam Li and Lu Dasong. ”You two didn’t know about this?”

Madam Li was completely dumbfounded. What, what does that mean?

Daniu went back to farming? Farming what? He had a perfectly good shopkeeper position in the county town. Why would he go back to farming? Has he lost his mind?

Lu Dasong felt uncomfortable and muttered, ”Daniu did mention this to me, but, well... I’ve been busy, and at that time, Daniu hadn’t even finalized the manor yet. It wasn’t clear when he’d be leaving, so I didn’t bother mentioning it to honey.”

Madam Li nearly fainted upon hearing this. She whipped around abruptly, grabbed Lu Dasong’s hand, and asked through gritted teeth, ”You knew? You knew Daniu and his wife went to farm?”

”This was brought up the day the second son’s family came back. The manor belongs to Yu, the land too. Actually, Daniu...”

Before Lu Dasong could finish, Madam Li let go of him and turned back to face Shu Yu.

Her expression stiffened for a moment, as if her anger was about to explode. But facing Shu Yu’s cold and serene gaze, she forced herself to suppress it.

After quite a while, she managed to squeeze out a twisted smile. ”Ah, ah, Yu, isn’t Daniu doing just fine as a shopkeeper? Why did you send him off to some manor to farm? Is it because he’s too dim-witted? Yu, if he’s done something wrong, just tell me, and I’ll teach him a lesson. There’s no need for him and his wife to go farming, right? Please, for the sake of him being your elder brother, let him come back to be the shopkeeper again. How about that?”

Lu Dasong frowned and tugged at her, but Madam Li forcefully flung his hand away and continued to plaster on a smile at Shu Yu.

Her smile was more painful to look at than crying. Shu Yu flinched slightly. ”The shop is now managed by my eldest sister. Most of the customers at the shop are women, after all, and Brother Daniu isn’t particularly familiar with clothing and style, so my eldest sister is more suitable. As for the manor outside the city, Brother Daniu is actually more familiar with that and enjoys that kind of environment more.”

Madam Li: ”...” Enjoy? Enjoy my foot. What kind of nonsense is this?

Who likes farming? So many people dream of leaving the village to find a stable job in the city. Forget anything fancy—just becoming a staff member in a small shop could be enough to strut back into Shangshi Village with pride.

Daniu used to be a shopkeeper, earning three taels a month. Nobody could stop envying him.

Moreover, in the county town, everything is convenient to buy, and the people you interact with are all wealthy. After working for a few more years, he might have even managed to open his own shop someday. If he were to return to Shangshi Village then, he’d surely make a grand entrance.

But now, he’s run off to some random manor outside the city to farm?

Madam Li nearly spat blood at the thought. She was convinced this wasn’t Daniu’s idea—it was Shu Yu trying to make room for that girl Daya.

However, Shu Yu’s status is different now. Madam Li didn’t dare voice her thoughts. She could only force herself to swallow her words.

Swallowing them made her face turn red, and tears nearly welled up in her eyes.
