My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1939: Chapter 1733: The Promise You Spoke Of

Actually, I really don’t know if every promise you made to me is something you’ve also said to others.

After treating Ran Zhihan, the doctor felt that Ran Zhihan became like this due to immense stress. Could it be the arguments between her husband and son here have strained her nerves to the point she couldn’t handle it anymore? Would the situation be better if they weren’t here?

Zhang Yichen is very worried about any further changes in his wife’s condition. He is most concerned about his own state now; he no longer has the energy to manage so many things, he’s been putting everything off.

If something happens to his wife again this time, he really wouldn’t know what to do. He’s already given up many business matters and has set aside family and company affairs for his wife. If another accident really occurs, how could he justify the sacrifices he’s made? Would everything he worked so hard to build go to waste like this?

If it’s really like this, how could I be content? All those years of hard work, for it all to turn to smoke in an instant—no matter what, I absolutely won’t let that happen, and it’s impossible to be reconciled with it.

”Doctor, how is my wife? How did she suddenly become like this?”

”Regarding your wife’s situation, we can’t really explain it. It could be sudden stress from someone, or too much pressure, or maybe the tension inside snapped all of a sudden, causing this behavior. Whatever was said or done in the hospital room that might have triggered him, you should carefully consider. I wonder if leaving the hospital for a while would change things?

If your presence here is causing the patient to react so intensely, then it proves you may not be suitable to visit the patient now. Staying might only lead to uncontrollable consequences. If you wish for your loved one to recover quickly, perhaps consider different ways to care for and accompany her. Her depression is worsening!

You should mentally prepare yourselves as family; she may remain depressed for life with no way to return to normal. If you want her to recover, you should consider other treatment options. The current method is unsuitable since your presence causes her excessive emotional turmoil, leading to repeated extreme behaviors. I’m unsure how she might harm herself or others next—such actions would only cause harm, not peace.

Apparently, you’ve witnessed her current state; there’s no justification for her to continue treatment here. She’s begun behaving irrationally; unaware of right or wrong, she’s forgotten how to change this outcome.

No one recognizes him in his mind now; only the notion to attack others and self-harm remains. He believes repeated self-destruction would make the world fair. Lacking any awareness, he’s developing consciousness disorders, possibly schizophrenia or Alzheimer’s. His condition will deteriorate without improvement. Consider alternative treatments; if insisting on traditional methods, transferring to a psychiatric hospital for professional treatment is advised. Our skills are limited and can’t control his continued decline.”

Zhang Ni hadn’t expected a few words exchanged with his father would agitate his mother. Why is she now so fragile, unable to endure any stimuli, collapsing at a mere sentence? What has she experienced in her life to repress herself like this, how immense must her stress be to reveal all inner fears without warning?

Reflecting on his actions as a son—not having cared for or accompanied his mother, leaving her like this—I realize I haven’t fared better than my father. I lack any right to criticize him; at least he stayed to give my mother some security, unlike me who never remained by her side. Under harsh training from childhood, I abandoned her, making her face all pressure alone.

Maybe my mother’s current state is my fault. If I had considered her well-being a bit more, now wouldn’t be like this. All because I’ve caused it to be like this, how should I act to avoid repeatedly subjecting my family to poor treatment, ensuring they live happily and carefree? None of my actions were right; I’ve continually hurt my mother while others don’t care about my life—only my mom treats me as her precious child time and again with care, but what have I done?

”Dad, you can focus on your affairs for now. I’ll always think of taking care of Mom, never leaving her no matter what. Maybe what she needs most is my companionship as her son!”

I’ve always believed that perhaps destiny loves to toy with me, leading us to become what we are step by step. Yet now, even if I want to return to you, do you need me?
