My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1902: Chapter 1697: Never Knew

Perhaps I should continue waiting for her to return to me, but waiting is truly agonizing.

Xia Jing now suddenly feels that Zhang Zhentian is really funny, telling himself over and over again that everything from the past can never come back.

”Zhang Zhentian, don’t you think you’re being really childish? Haven’t you thought about how you are saying these words at all? Time and time again, have you not asked yourself how many times you’ve actually done this? Have you really forgotten everything in your heart? Even if you have forgotten everything, I haven’t forgotten, and I’ve remembered everything for you!

You must be very curious as to why I still remember these things, right? That’s because I want you to know that some things cannot be forgotten just by saying so. All the harm you caused me, I will always remember, no matter how much love we shared.

When I heard you were going to commit suicide for me, I couldn’t help but feel a bit lucky. I thought you wouldn’t go that far just for me, and even if you really loved me, so what? You still have your family, your parents, and your responsibilities. Even for the sake of everyone’s feelings, you would think twice before acting. But I never thought you would be so impulsive, casually thinking about suicide. Do you think you are being fair to those family members who sincerely love you and regard you as their most important relative?

All of you think that I am overdoing it, but think about it now, who is selfish, who lacks a bottom line? Aren’t you the one threatening others time and time again? In the end, who gets hurt? It’s always your own family.

If you really have figured it out, then please take responsibility for every word you say, and don’t always think that your father is standing here, that he won’t bear anything. You’ve made your father speak harshly to you, but he’s your biological father! How could you bear to commit suicide in front of him? How do you think he feels deep down as a father, the pain, the bewilderment?”

Zhang Zhentian listened to Xia Jing’s words, turned his head to look at Old Master Zhang, and chose to say nothing. He shook his head at his son, and Zhang Zhentian realized that his father was truly disappointed in him this time.

”I really didn’t expect you could be so foolish. I thought that even though you hadn’t lived in this family for so many years, at least you would understand that life is precious. But you treat your own life as if it means nothing.

When you went through that phase, I started to doubt whether you were still my biological son. How could my son be so foolish? Children usually view their own lives as important, but why are you so foolish? I can’t even believe that you are the same person as he is. Can you tell me, where did my original son go?

Actually, asking this is redundant. You and my son have no difference because you are essentially the same person. Both of you are willing to do anything for your wife, regardless of how much pain you bring to your family. You always focus on that woman in your eyes and forget your family. How painful is it to watch your son die by your side?

People are selfish by nature, as the saying goes, ’If a person doesn’t look out for themselves, heaven and earth will destroy them.’ But being selfish to your extent is truly rare!

I don’t know what good comes of your selfishness, but time and time again you disregard your family, treating them as puppets. You want them when you need them, discard them at will, hurt them as you please. To you, family seems insignificant, worth nothing. Yet when you need help, you turn back to seek your lover. But what is your lover to you?

In that instant, I couldn’t believe you were my son. How could my son act this way? Even if he was irresponsible towards me as a father, he wouldn’t go so far as to do something like this. To choose hanging himself in front of his own father, isn’t that forcing his father to a dead end?”

It was only then that Zhang Zhentian realized his recent actions were in front of his father. His father was truly afraid, afraid of losing his son. What had he turned his father into with his behavior? He never considered how much his father’s heart could bear and only pursued what he wanted without thinking. Meanwhile, he forgot what his family wanted most.

”Father, I am sorry. I didn’t think it through before. I acted rashly and caused you to worry. Now I understand how much you care for me. Over all these years, I haven’t stayed by your side, yet you still care about me. This is a huge surprise for me. I never dared to imagine returning home to find my father still cared about my life and death. I thought it didn’t matter whether I lived or died since you all seemed to have abandoned me the day I left home. But now, with this result, how can I not be surprised, not be shocked?”

”We have always said that no matter how much wrongdoing you have done, no matter how many consciences we have made you burdened with, or how many people you have hurt, in our eyes, we are still your parents, and you are still our son. Regardless of how many mistakes you’ve made, we will endlessly forgive you because your mistakes only show we didn’t fulfill our responsibility as parents properly. All the responsibility shouldn’t be yours alone to bear, as parents we should help bear the burden. Yet at that moment, I truly was scared, thinking I wouldn’t have to care about your life or death. But losing you once again, that feeling of gain and loss, was simply too painful!

I have lost you more than once, you are my son. How could I truly not care about you? I am unable to ignore you or turn a deaf ear. Regardless, the blood that flows in your veins will always bind us together, a connection impossible to sever in this lifetime!”

You left, it pained me, and I found it hard to accept, but you have not budged. Are you in the country or abroad now!
