My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1842: Chapter 1636: Support

Old Master Zhang watched his increasingly haggard self and didn’t know how to comfort himself now. He never imagined things would turn out like this; all he wanted was for the family to be happy together.

In the following days, Zhang Zhentian cleaned the house with his wife every day. His father saw him pass by time and again but chose not to say a word to him. Perhaps in his father’s eyes, this son never measured up. After making so many mistakes, what right did he have to endlessly be forgiven by his family for all the wrongs he’d committed?

Xia Jing could see that deep down, her husband was still deeply troubled. Some things were beyond her control, but they had become unbearable because of her. If she had been more understanding and willing to stay in this family, maybe this wouldn’t have happened. Looking back, all the mistakes were due to her stubbornness and selfishness.

Thinking back, none of her actions seemed right. She hurt her family again and again, making them sad and unhappy because of her. Her family was scattered and unable to reunite. Even during holidays, they could only miss each other from afar.

Reflecting now, she realized she had indeed lost many things, things she might never recover in her lifetime. She pondered whether she would make the same choices again if time could turn back, whether things would end up like this.

Zhang Zhentian didn’t notice the changes in his wife’s expression. He just felt that his father couldn’t accept him because of the mistakes he had made, the errors that had always bothered his father. If his father were willing to forgive him, he would eventually speak to him. Though as a junior he shouldn’t wait for his elders to approach him, he felt powerless to do otherwise.

”I’m sorry, husband. If not for me, you wouldn’t have left this home. Your father’s opinion wouldn’t have been so harsh, and our son wouldn’t choose to treat us this way. I have no way to redeem my past mistakes, I can only deeply apologize to you. If time could flow back, if given another chance, I wouldn’t choose such an ending. This ending has brought us too much pain.

Even if the world doesn’t understand the change in our heartfelt expressions, I understand you, because we have suffered the same treatment. Our hearts have endured the same trials and torments. Over these years, we’ve known very well how each other has survived. So many days and nights have flowed with countless tears, cried countless times. I just want a stable life, but my choices have made everything unbearable!”

Zhang Zhentian knew these were his wife’s heartfelt words. No matter how many mistakes she made, no matter who she thought of deep in her heart, since he chose to love her, he should forgive her, forgive every mistake she made. Because of love, he chose to forgive outcomes he couldn’t accept. Since he chose this road, whatever happened, he had to continue to the end, longing for his family to be happy around him, regardless of the ending, as long as he had tried, he had no regrets.

It’s better than not trying, always hiding behind family, waiting for them to protect him. If the family chose to protect him like this, what meaning did his life hold?

”I know you say these things for my good. I understand how much grievance your heart suffered this year, but I cannot help it. As a man, not being able to protect you, not letting your tears flow, I feel I’ve failed. Yet you still give so much for me, making my heart feel helpless. You’re my wife, and I just want you to live stably in this world, carefree and cheerful, not worrying about sadness or unhappy things. But my actions have ultimately burdened you with me!

Actually, our son chooses to treat us like this, and as a mother, you feel it most. You bore him through ten hard months, only to abandon him because of my insistence on taking you away, leading to this, yet he holds no nostalgia for you.

Sometimes I think my son’s heart is really ruthless, treating his own parents this way. What would he be like towards strangers? Imagining his decisive demeanor in business makes me anxious. I fear he might treat us as he does enemies outside, hoping he can stay with us, happy every day, which would be our happiness!”

Our son sees our past mistakes as unforgivable. No matter what stage we reach, the child might forgive us, but our father absolutely wouldn’t. In his eyes, we’re children who repeatedly don’t repent. We wished to return home, yet he chose to shut us out for our son’s sake, valuing his grandson because he raised him diligently. How could he not care about his grandson’s wellbeing?

Xia Jing truly understood this feeling, as it was brought on by her own hands. Whom could she blame? Seeing her father’s affection for her son comforted her; at least he didn’t vent his anger on her son due to her mistakes.

There’s too much between us, do you still think of me wherever you are now?
