My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1802: Chapter 1596: Like a Dream

I know better than anyone that if someone’s heart has left, then what’s the point of leaving an empty shell here?

Zhang Yichen knows that Xia Jing must be hiding somewhere quietly crying alone again. He knows that although Xia Jing appears very strong on the outside, she is very fragile inside and can’t withstand any hurt. But this time, the hurt is too much for Xia Jing. Perhaps in her heart, she will never forget the abandonment by her husband in this lifetime!

It’s impossible for any woman to endure such pain. The marriage she worked so hard to build and the relationship she tried so hard to maintain were broken because of a simple mistake; this is unacceptable to anyone! Perhaps in Zhang Zhentian’s eyes, his wife is a strong person who wouldn’t cry no matter what difficulties she faces. But he never imagined that his wife would be so heartbroken by his abandonment this time, secretly crying in her bedroom day and night with no one knowing!

Xia Jing is really at her wit’s end. She doesn’t know what she can do to win her husband back. Maybe they are destined for this outcome, and it’s just that this day came a little early, catching her off guard.

For the sake of his son, Zhang Zhentian asked repeatedly where Xia Jing went, but no one would tell him. He really doesn’t know where to find his wife.

That day, Zhang Zhentian went to his father again, wanting to see if his father knew if Zhang Mo had told him where Xia Jing was.

Old Master Zhang was a bit taken aback when he saw Zhang Zhentian returning to the Zhang Family. Why would his son suddenly come back without informing him beforehand?

Seeing his father coming downstairs, Zhang Zhentian excitedly walked over to Zhang Mo.

”Why did you decide to come back yourself today? Is there something you want to ask me?” Old Master Zhang couldn’t believe his son would return without any reason unless he wanted to learn the truth about something from him.

Hearing his father’s question, Zhang Zhentian felt sure his father knew something, so he became even more excited. He grabbed his father’s hand and asked, ”I want to ask you, do you know where Xia Jing went?”

Old Master Zhang found the question perplexing and said to Zhang Zhentian, ”Are you joking with me? Your wife is missing, and you’re coming to me with this? What’s it got to do with me if your wife is missing? How would I know where your wife went?”

Zhang Zhentian was also puzzled. Doesn’t his father know where his wife went? Then why pretend to know everything and talk to him this way?

”Didn’t Yichen tell you where Xia Jing went?” Zhang Zhentian asked in confusion.

”Don’t you find your question ridiculous? Even if I knew, so what? If I didn’t know, so what? Why should I tell you? It was you who decided to divorce her, not me forcing you to make that decision. Now that she’s chosen to leave, why insist on bringing her back to hurt her again? Maybe in Xia Jing’s mind, she’s already disheartened with you.”

”I knew you must know where she went. Since you know, can you tell me? I want to bring her back. I’ll do anything as long as she can come back to me!”

Upon hearing his son’s words, Old Master Zhang couldn’t help but be curious about what ”anything” meant.

”Then tell me, what are you willing to sacrifice to bring her back to you?”

”As long as she can come back, I can stay out of the Zhang Family’s door for the rest of my life. As long as she can come back to me, I can never acknowledge you or my son for the rest of my life...”

Old Master Zhang was stunned. Does he mean so little to Zhang Zhentian? For a woman, he could abandon him repeatedly.

”Zhang Zhentian, you haven’t forgotten, have you? You were the one who said you wanted to divorce her. I tried to persuade you, but you insisted on divorcing your wife. Now that you’ve made that decision, what right do you have to regret it? Don’t you know that a man should stick by his word? You can’t just go back on your word whenever you feel like it. Is every decision you make something you regret afterward? Do you have the responsibility that a man should have? Even if you now abandon me and your son to find her, she might not want to continue living with you. No woman can forgive a husband who decides to divorce her over a small mistake because such hurt can’t easily be healed. I repeatedly advised you to think twice before acting back then, but you stubbornly went your own way. You didn’t listen to my advice and didn’t deal with this serious matter calmly. So, what good is regret now? Your wife is gone. Regardless of where she went, she won’t continue living with you. A woman whose heart has been broken by her husband has a heart that’s dead and won’t easily be revived. Do you think a dead heart can be revived?”

Zhang Zhentian had to admit his father made some valid points, but he really can’t remain indifferent now. His wife abruptly left him without warning, and his heart can’t stay calm. No matter how far he has to go, he will continue to search for his wife, even if it takes ten, twenty years, or more, until the day he finds her.

”Dad, since you don’t know where she went, consider this my farewell for today. I’ve thought it over, and I really can’t lose the woman I love most. Even though she’s done so many things that hurt me, I still can’t let her go. I want to find her. The world is so vast, and I know how difficult it will be to find her, but I don’t want to give up like this. More than ten years of marriage isn’t something you can just forget. All these years, she has been by my side every day, every night, every two hours. Without her, my life has no light. I only want to stay with her forever, without either of us leaving the other. I’m going to find my beloved wife now, and while I’m gone, you must take good care of yourself and wait for me to bring my wife back so our family can live the life we want happily!”

”Since you’ve made your decision, I won’t stop you, but I hope you remember to think carefully about everything and not hurt yourself or the people you love most...”

It would be better to let all this be just like a dream, not to be pursued, to live lightly!
