My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1820: Chapter 1614: Neglect

We once thought it was impossible between us, but later we realized that everything could actually change.

Zhang Zhentian has already said it himself. As a father, what more is there for him to say now?

His son has already made such a decision, so as a father, no matter what, he cannot continue to meddle in these matters.

Perhaps only by letting them personally experience this pain will they understand that some things cannot be forgiven just by one’s own actions, and the mistakes made in the past must ultimately be borne with the consequences of one’s own decisions.

”Do as you please, every decision is your own. Anyway, none of us elders’ words get through to you. In your eyes, we elders are dispensable, and all you see is your wife. Since that’s the case, why come back to this family just to make me suffer your temper? Did you come back just to send me to the hospital again?

Can’t you show a bit more filial piety to your biological father, just a little bit of compliance from you, what’s so wrong about that?

I am your biological father. Could it be that everything I say and do would harm you?

Why are you so ungrateful, insisting on hurting those who love you the most, time and time again, until you can rest easy?”

Old Master Zhang truly couldn’t contain his anger now. He never thought that after all the kind advice, his son remained indifferent.

No matter how much he said as a father, in his son’s eyes, every word he spoke was wrong. Is being a father really such a failure?

Is everything wrong in his son’s eyes?

Is even doing the slightest right thing really so abnormal?

Xia Jing knew Old Master Zhang was angry. She truly didn’t want to see her husband have any estrangement with any family member because of her. She felt her guilt was growing heavier and heavier, every lie she told eventually harmed every person who genuinely cared about her in this family. Because of her lies, everyone who truly loved her got hurt time and again. How many more mistakes did she have to make in this lifetime before she could rest easy, so that those who loved her the most would not be hurt by her anymore?

”How can you speak to your father like this? Everything he said isn’t without reason. Originally, I was the one who was wrong. He said those things and did those things for your own good. Why can’t you understand a father’s intentions?

We abandoned our child. She struggled to raise our son alone. Have you ever thought about how difficult it was for her?

To be human is to learn to be grateful. Although I’ve always taken you around the world over the years, I’ve made many mistakes, but I still hold onto gratitude in my heart because I thank him for arduously raising my son.

How much has my son paid because of my decisions? How much has he lost? Who can understand?”

In Old Master Zhang’s eyes, every word Xia Jing said now was just an act. She didn’t want to hear her daughter-in-law acting in front of her anymore. Watching this woman seemed harmless enough, but in the end?

Hasn’t this woman already caused such chaos in this family time and again? Is it not enough? Does this family have to keep enduring even greater harm because of her presence?

”Enough, you don’t need to continue acting in front of me.

Every time there is trouble between my son and me, isn’t it because of you? Since you appeared, my son and I have never spoken calmly. I ended up in the hospital again and again because of her. How many times did you come back to accompany me? Over the years, you said you were grateful for me raising your child, but I don’t need your gratitude because he is a descendant of the Zhang Family.

No matter what, I would raise him at all costs because he’s the only heir of this household. Whatever the past, I could overlook it, but this matter I really cannot ignore. Whatever agreement you both have come to, it means nothing to me.

All I want is a promise from you both, a promise that you will not do anything outrageous in this life. Can you consider the feelings of us, your family members, when you do things?”

Old Master Zhang found being with his family truly exhausting. Why did everything he say seem to them as if he intended to harm them? Why couldn’t they stand in his shoes and consider him? He just wanted a peaceful life, never intended to interfere unnecessarily in their marital life, but the things they repeatedly do made him unable to endure.

The greatest thing in marriage is loyalty, and besides loyalty, there is trust. If you can’t achieve even loyalty and trust, what is the point of being together?

The more he thought about it, the more he couldn’t understand. The more he thought, the more confused he felt. Why is it that every decision he made never received understanding from his family? How much did he sacrifice, how much did he lose, and for what result?

Now thinking back, he felt genuinely hurt. He was once willing to do anything for his family, yet all he received in return was repeated misunderstandings by his family.

”I don’t want to say anything now. I just hope you both really think about whether you want to live for others or for yourselves. If you live for others, then your life has lost all meaning. But if you live for yourselves, then live with brilliance, don’t repeatedly abandon everything you ever wanted for others’ sake. Living like that is not for yourselves but for some blind target!”

Xia Jing knew well that in this life, she would never live for herself, but for the man she loves most in her heart.

In the past, we overlooked the deep desires and wants from within each other, always trying to impose what we wanted onto others, forgetting that others also have their own thoughts.
