My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1825: Chapter 1619: Exhausted

Even if the fate between you and me runs its course, I am reluctant to come to my senses. How lucky am I to have met you, to meet you in this unfamiliar world.

The father and son once again argued loudly at home over these matters. In fact, no one was at fault over this; the only mistake was that my own selfish desires were too strong, causing my family to be hurt time and again because of my selfishness and self-interest.

”Others can receive forgiveness from their families for the mistakes they’ve made, so why can’t I? I admit that I have done wrong things, and I know that my wrongdoings made it hard for you to forgive and feel at peace. But can’t you forgive me just once?”

”Once? Are your wrongdoings really just a one-time thing? If you receive our forgiveness, is it really just for this one time? Ask yourself honestly how many bad things you’ve done, how many hearts you’ve broken, causing your family, your son to be heartbroken. Yet ultimately, we all chose to forgive you because we treated you as family, regarded you as important. But what about you? How do you make everyone feel because of you? Just for your so-called desires, you want to abandon the most important people at home. Do you think that deep down you can truly endure this? Do you truly feel no pain? Sometimes, as a father, I really don’t understand. People say that hearts are made of flesh, and they hurt; feelings are not one-way. But do the decisions you make truly show a heart that hurts, a feeling that cools? You never consider the feelings of your family when making decisions. You are always so selfish and self-centered. Don’t you know that the consequences of selfishness never bode well? Then why do you have to stubbornly choose such a conclusion?”

”Dad, from the time I was born, you should have known that my fate was not for me to choose. I failed to fulfill your expectations, staying at home to inherit, failing to fulfill your expectations of my becoming the most useful person in the world. But my son did it. He is more outstanding than me, even excels beyond me. He’s much stronger than you. He has done it. He is the most powerful person in the world, the most capable man in the world, and he has married the most kind-hearted and gentle wife in the world.”

”Do you now feel proud of your son’s achievements today? But you’ll never realize how much your son has endured to reach today, how arduous his every step was. You never saw or experienced it. Every step he took was just to prove himself, to prove to his parents that he is the most important, to make his parents regret abandoning him. On his day of greatest achievement, when you returned, what you gave him wasn’t a warm embrace, wasn’t an apology, wasn’t a greeting, but heartbreak after heartbreak. Every decision you make never considers others’ feelings. You think if you are happy, then it’s enough. Another’s happiness has no relation to you. Yet you never understand how much your family hopes for your happiness. As long as you are happy, even if it means your family suffers, it doesn’t matter. To your family, as long as those they care about are safe and happy in this lifetime, it’s enough. In your son’s heart, he doesn’t wish for his parents to love him much. He doesn’t ask his parents to do more for him, just hopes that his parents can live happily. Even if they never recognize him in this lifetime, it doesn’t matter. But what about you? How do you treat him? You take his love for you as capital to hurt him time and again. Haven’t you hurt him enough?

”Dad, I’m sorry. I truly realize my mistakes. I know each thing I did was so selfish. I never considered the feelings of those I care about and those who love me. I always thought happiness for myself was enough; why bother with others? They can’t manage their own affairs, how would they have time to deal with mine? But I never realized that my dad still loves me so much, my son still cares deeply about me as his biological father, even my daughter-in-law is like that. Yet I made so many hurtful choices for them. How can I face them? Every decision I made caused them so much sadness, so much pain, just because of the gains I wanted, just because I discarded what I should have been protecting.

”Yes, your actions are always so arbitrary. Do you know when you act, you think you’re so arrogant, but how many eyes are expectantly watching you fall hard from a height? Yet you never know how much your family cares about you. Every step could be done solidly, each step firmly on the ground, not on the soft clouds of the sky palace above, which only makes oneself weary and tired... In this lifetime, you’ll never return home again, because you have no chance anymore. Recently your wife has come out causing trouble, I don’t know if it’s intentional, but I hope you investigate properly. If it’s deliberate, then not only your son, but even I as a father will never forgive her. What she has done is too unforgivable, and once again, it’s hurt me. Not to mention it’s worsened the relationship between your son and your daughter-in-law!”

Zhang Zhentian heard his father mention his wife is once again causing trouble, he knew his wife really returned here. He felt a mix of happiness and sadness. Happy that he can finally find his wife, sad that perhaps due to this incident, there’s no longer any possibility of being with her.

”Alright, let me, the selfish person, investigate this matter properly. Once I thoroughly investigate it, I’ll tell you first. Don’t look at me with that look; I won’t hide anything from you, nor will I ever again do things that you’ll never forgive. Don’t worry!”

Maybe destiny never provided directions, an unrealizable love, and at the same time, you are my unrealizable dream!
