My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1810: Chapter 1604: Words of Love

Words of love are meant for the ears, but why do they make the eyes so emotional?

”Yichen, I know that my abandonment has caused you indelible harm, but do you understand? If it wasn’t for your father’s abandonment, how could you have the happy life you have now? I know some things can’t be explained with a few words, but I hope you can trust your biological father once. We never intended to fully abandon you; in our hearts, you are always our precious son. Parents can’t help but love their own children. Every time we shut the door on you, every time we deny you as our biological son, do you know how conflicted and painful it is for us as parents? We shed silent tears each time, but what about you? You’ve reached the pinnacle in life, heights that others can’t even dream of. Doesn’t that make you feel happy?”

Zhang Zhentian felt even more troubled hearing this. His biological father was right in front of him, so why did he have to treat him this way? Just because they abandoned him, does that mean he should feel happier? Their abandonment brought him so much harm. He had never experienced any fatherly or motherly love, so what right did they have to come up with such grand excuses and ask him to happily forgive them?

”You think I’ve been happy and delighted all these years without you, but do you know the torment and pain I’ve endured? I keep reminding myself that my parents didn’t abandon me out of lack of love or intentionally, but because they had their own difficulties. Yet, as I comfort myself over and over, I deceive myself, you know? I’ve gradually become numb, trusting everything everyone says. I believe my parents love their biological son unconditionally and would sacrifice anything for me if needed.

You think your departure is my greatest happiness, but do you know how hard it’s been for me all these years? Do you understand what self-deception feels like? Do you understand the feeling of convincing yourself of something impossible, assuring yourself that your parents would never cruelly abandon you? What sort of feeling does your heart endure?”

Hearing her son speak this way, Xia Jing felt deep pain as a mother. She never imagined her son would have lived so miserably, day by day like this. The thought of her son deceiving himself into believing his parents loved him made her inner suffering worse. Clearly, all the consequences were due to her actions. Why did this happen? Why must the blame fall on her child? Why must her child suffer? If time could rewind, she would never have abandoned her child, only for it to lead to such a result where her child suffers deeply, a pain worse than knives stabbing her heart.

”Son, I apologize for disappointing you as a mother. If I knew our relationship would turn as bad as it is today, I would never have left you. Leaving you is my biggest regret in life. I know every child yearns for their parents’ company, yet you’ve lacked parental love for so many years. You must have struggled to achieve everything on your own. How can we, as your parents, say such harsh and heartless words to you? We only hope you can live joyfully. As parents, as long as our child lives happily, what does anything else matter?

As long as you can be happy and joyful, we don’t care about anything else. If you can live happily, nothing else matters to dad and mom. When we chose to give up everything and return home to accompany you, that’s when we realized that nothing is more important than our child. What matters most to our child is whether his parents are there for him in life. Over the years, your father and I made so many mistakes, terrible ones. We never once accompanied you, leaving you lonely for so many years. You must resent us, and it’s only natural if you do because we abandoned you, bringing you so much pain. If you don’t resent us, we wouldn’t believe it. Regardless of your feelings towards me and your father, we will forever regard you as our beloved son; that will never change.”

”Mom, you really shouldn’t say that. Deep down, I’ve never blamed you. No matter what, you gave me life. Without your painstaking efforts to bring me into this world, I wouldn’t have the achievements I have today. I’m truly grateful to you. But sometimes, do you truly think I’m happy? Do you think I can continue to live happily despite my parents’ abandonment? Sure, I have a wife who loves me dearly, a son I adore who stays by my side, along with my grandfather. But my parents have never been there for me a single day. That is a pain for me, an ache that will never fade. Do you know what kind of understanding and feeling that pain brings me?

It’s indescribable; I don’t even know how to express it to you. It hurts too much!

Your decisions hurt me, transforming me into who I am now. And now you come seeking my favor; how do you think that feels? If it were you, wouldn’t you think this is just a farce, not taking the matter seriously, not caring at all? Do you think it makes me feel any better? Shouldn’t everyone have empathy? Not presume that your so-called happiness means happiness for me? In reality, am I truly happy?”

After seeing so many beautiful scenes, none captivated like the lies you tell.
