My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1805: Chapter 1599: Never Give Up

There was a time when I often wondered about the reasons, the causes that led me down this path, but later I gradually realized that it was all just my imagination. I once longed for my parents to return to my side, and now I can only pray to the heavens to have pity on me and let my wife return to me.

Old Master Zhang knew that Zhang Zhentian regretted it now!

Actually, deep down, she understood very well what kind of things would cause her son to say certain words, do certain things, and ultimately lead to certain outcomes. He was more aware than anyone else, but sometimes, he had no choice but to hide these words. He knew that once some words were spoken, their meaning would change, so why make things awkward for himself? Wouldn’t it be nice for the family to happily chat together? For so many years, he never had his child return to his side, and now that the day had finally come, how could he not be excited and emotional?

Likewise, how could Zhang Zhentian not know what his biological father felt in his heart? He had been away from home for so many years, never accompanying his family. They had been missing out on his companionship for over a decade. He, as a son, failed to fulfill his duties, and he, as a father, failed to fulfill the responsibilities towards his own son. In his entire life, he had never fully committed himself to anything he did. He really didn’t understand why he chose this path in the beginning, a road of no return that ultimately deprived the family of a happy and peaceful life. All these consequences were caused by his own actions, so who else could he blame?

In one’s life, nothing can be entirely smooth. Some things, once they happen, just happen and won’t change no matter what anyone says. Every action, word, and decision he made came with a heavy price.

Zhang Yichen watched the tacit understanding between his grandfather and his father and knew that it was time for him to say the most important thing.

”I don’t want either of you to say any more. Since this decision has already been made, let me tell you my final decision. You have wandered outside for so many years, and it’s time to come home. Not for any other reason, not because I chose to forgive you, but because I have to make a decision about some things. Whether for anyone else or not, I should make the right choice. Maybe this decision will be torturous for you, but I believe it is something that will make Grandpa the happiest. She has sacrificed so much for me, so how could I let my personal issues prevent you from coming home and let my grandfather endure another painful separation? I won’t let my grandfather suffer such hurt again!

He loves me so much, giving me all the best things. I just want him to live healthily. My grandfather is the one who loves me the most. I will make sure he lives happily and without worries.”

Zhang Zhentian didn’t understand what his son’s words meant, nor did he want to know what he needed to do to reduce his son’s hostility toward him. Maybe some things, once they happen, can never be undone. He had once hurt the people he loved most, causing them great harm and suffering. Perhaps now the heavens are making them come back to make him pay, so he can never live a happy life again.

Even though Zhang Zhentian didn’t understand what his son meant, Old Master Zhang heard it quite clearly.

He knew what his grandson’s words meant. Maybe his once-broken family could return to what it once was.

Was the past what he most wished to see? Yet, it was a happy family. Wasn’t it the happiest thing for a family to live together?

Nothing is more important than a family living happily together. Perhaps before, he either valued it too much or didn’t care enough, which led to today’s ending. If he had moved just a little back then, would the outcome have been different? He really didn’t understand what decision he made at the time or the reason that forced his own son out of his home.

That was his own son; no matter the reason, he shouldn’t have been forced out of his home. He should have lived happily. He should have lived a happy life in this world.

”Since I have said so much, you should come back. I hope that when you return this time, you will not do anything to make things difficult for everyone. I also hope you can let Grandpa enjoy his later years happily. These years have been tough for Grandpa because your abandonment has caused him great harm. Maybe you think it means nothing to you, but Grandpa has endured so much. He is no Saint.

Some of the things you did ultimately wounded Grandpa’s heart, so please, in the future, even if you do not consider my feelings, have some consideration for my aging grandfather. He has worked so hard, sacrificing so much without any return. It’s hard for me to watch. He is my grandfather. How could I not think of him and let him shed silent tears alone again and again while I, as a grandson, am powerless? I’m just watching from the sidelines, unable to lend a helping hand. Do you know how helpless that feels?”

Old Master Zhang was deeply moved to hear these words from his grandson, realizing that all his love for him over the years hadn’t been in vain. To him, he will always be the closest person, and every action he takes is always from the perspective of considering him. Old Master Zhang was truly touched. If everyone in the world could show such gratitude, what more could he ask for in life? He had ultimately done the greatest thing—cherishing his dearest kin.

He never thought all of this would be so bumpy, nor did he ever think everything would lead down a road of regret.
