My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1828: Chapter 1622: Again and Again

Just let me go, stop struggling, I really don’t know what’s keeping me from moving on.

Zhang Zhentian felt speechless towards his wife. Why did everything he said to her have to go against him?

Did he not even have the basic authority as a man?

It seemed he had indeed lived a failed life, giving up everything for a woman who, deep down, didn’t love him. Time and again, he did foolish things for her, mistaking it for an indulgence of his own but in the end, what was he to her? Time and again, he just didn’t know what all of this was for, why he had to endure so much torment and pain in this life.

”I’m really at a loss for words with you. I just want to know if, when you do this, you don’t feel an ounce of heartache, does it not make you tremble a bit?

Everyone wants to live a happy life, but everyone chooses different paths, and the outcomes are different. So why do you treat me this way with your own methods?

I used to think I was selfish, but gradually I found that the most selfish one wasn’t me, it was you. You could abandon everyone around you for your own selfish desires, and hurt everyone who loves you mercilessly, but I can’t!

Sometimes, I really doubt you. Do you still have a conscience deep down? Is there really any goodness left inside you?

Why is everything I’ve done for you just a joke to you, while you never understand what kind of happiness I’m seeking in my heart.”

”I’ve already told you that I know the kind of happiness you want deep down, but the happiness you seek is something I can never give you in this lifetime. I just hope you can clearly understand that some things cannot be obtained just by forcing them, and even if they could, that outcome might not be what you want, it might even bring you a hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand times more pain. Is it really worth it?”

Zhang Yichen stood outside the door, listening to every word his parents said to each other. Each argument left him simply without words to describe the countless disputes of his parents. They always experienced it like this, never finding a solution, and his father always loved so humbly, begging for his mother’s forgiveness. But was his father really the one at fault this time?

”Xia Jing, you should know in my eyes, loving someone is not about whether it’s worth it. As long as you’re willing to give everything for her, that is the truest love in this world. Maybe you still don’t quite understand this, but do you know? All I want is just a stable life. What might be ordinary and simple for others is incredibly difficult for me.

You may feel losing you is a form of happiness, but do you know? Losing you is like a catastrophe to me, no different from the sky falling down.

If I, as a man, can’t even keep the woman I love the most by my side, then what meaning is there left in me living in this world?”

...

Zhang Yichen couldn’t bear it outside any longer. If he didn’t intervene and stop this farce, he didn’t know how long his parents would go on, and then their rare plan to travel the world would be dashed again.

”Ahem, ahem!

I say, my mom and dad, are you two arguing again? The only sound heard throughout the house is your bickering. What on earth are you arguing about so loudly? It’s so late now, and you have plans to travel, shouldn’t you hurry and set out? Do you really want this rare opportunity for this trip to be ruined again?”

Xia Jing felt awkward, he didn’t expect every single word he said to his husband to be overheard by his son. If he had known his son was standing outside, he wouldn’t have argued with his husband for anything.

”Yichen, we weren’t arguing, we were just discussing something. Let us finish discussing it and go about our business. If you have things to do, go ahead and get busy, don’t let what we’re doing delay your work, it would make us feel bad. Please, go focus on your work, don’t stand here!”

”Actually, I’d love to focus on my work, but every time I’m about to leave, I hear your arguing. I don’t know how I’m supposed to work amidst all this noise. I really want to ask, are you still planning to leave?

It seems it’s already late, and if you don’t set out now, time’s going to run short, and then this rare opportunity for travel will be wasted again. Are you really willing to let it go so easily?”

Zhang Zhentian listened to Zhang Yichen’s words, turned his head to look at his wife. The decision could only be made by her. If she agreed to go, they’d definitely leave; if she hesitated, that meant another missed chance for a world tour would be nothing more than a pipe dream again.

Having received this hot potato, Xia Jing didn’t know what to say.

Zhang Yichen looked at his mother with a hazy expression, knowing she was someone who valued her reputation. He had pushed this matter to this point, and his mother would definitely go with the flow and say they were still going to travel, not wanting him to see their embarrassment.

Sure enough, Xia Jing responded: ”Of course, we’re still going, we’re all prepared and just waiting for the right time, why not set off now? If we let this chance for the long-awaited world tour slip through our fingers, wouldn’t that be a shame!

Besides, I’ve already discussed things with your father, it’s about time we got our things ready and hurried to the airport to catch our flight.”

After saying this, Xia Jing picked up her suitcase and left, not daring to stand there any longer. Though the words were insincere, she couldn’t bear to look at her child.

Zhang Zhentian gave his son a thankful gesture before quickly picking up his suitcase and following after his wife.

Seeing his parents like this, Zhang Yichen found it genuinely amusing. Why were his parents, at their age, still playing childish games like this? Wasn’t it tiring?

Perhaps this is just their way of getting along. No one else could understand it, only they understood each other!

Do you really love me? Who wouldn’t want someone to accompany them through the hustle and bustle of the world!
