The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 500: Chapter 499: Stalking

After the mother and daughter arrived on the street, they found quite a few people there.

”I didn’t expect so many people to come shopping during the New Year. It’s getting more and more lively.” Ding Yuejun watched the crowd in front of her and couldn’t help but sigh.

Yiyi, upon hearing this, couldn’t help but laugh: ”Everyone’s life is getting better now, so they are willing to spend money.”

”That’s true.”

With a smile on her face, Ding Yuejun then bought quite a few things with her daughter. But since it was the New Year, most shops were still closed, so it wasn’t that much. By the time they got home, it was almost evening.

”Yiyi, let’s have something simple for dinner tonight.”

Yiyi naturally had no objections and nodded with a smile.

After the mother and daughter ate a simple meal, they rested early. The next day, they still went to Mo Xiaohong’s home, where they happened to meet Father Zeng and Mrs. Zeng. Ding Yuejun chatted with them for a while, and they seemed to have a pleasant chat.

Ever since discovering that Ding Yuejun was originally a daughter from a big family in Shangjing who had drifted outside, Mrs. Zeng’s attitude toward her became even warmer, with some flattery in her words. But in the end, she couldn’t help but ask: ”Next time can we go to Shangjing together? I’ve never been there, it’d be so enviable to visit it.”

Hearing this, Ding Yuejun smiled and said: ”Of course, next time your whole family can come along and see, I’ll show you around Shangjing properly.”

Mrs. Zeng, pleased, nodded with a smile. ”Good, let’s settle on that, we’ll visit after the New Year.”

Upon hearing her mother-in-law’s words, Mo Xiaohong frowned slightly; she never knew her mother-in-law had this plan, so she looked at her husband with inquiry.

Zeng Jiahe was also full of confusion, but since his mother had spoken, it was hard for him to say more.

Mrs. Zeng was afraid that Ding Yuejun would forget, so she even set the date. ”We’ll go on the sixteenth day of the first month, after celebrating the Lantern Festival at home, and then visit Shangjing.”

This made Zeng Jiahe frown tightly. ”Mom, wouldn’t that be too rushed? Plus Little Treasure is still small, how will he go with us?”

Mrs. Zeng’s expression cooled down and she said quietly: ”Is this because you don’t want me to see the world?” She seemed somewhat wronged.

Zeng Jiahe quickly said: ”Mom, of course I didn’t mean that, you overthought.”

Mo Xiaohong’s expression became increasingly unsightly. She hadn’t realized before that her mother-in-law could be so domineering, deciding on a trip without consulting them.

Finally, it was Ding Yuejun who suggested: ”It’s indeed too cold now, it’s freezing even for us, not to mention children. If you really plan to visit Shangjing, pick springtime, when the weather is warm and the scenery better than now.”

”That would be great, let’s settle on that.”

Mrs. Zeng naturally nodded in agreement, seeing that Ding Yuejun brought this up.

Mo Xiaohong opened her mouth but didn’t say anything in the end; her mother-in-law was decent, wishing to visit Shangjing, so she’d make an effort to accompany her.

After lunch, Ding Yuejun and Yiyi went back.

Mrs. Zeng enthusiastically saw them off, finally saying: ”Tomorrow Xiao Hong and Jiahe will come over to pay New Year’s greetings, have a lovely time, but don’t cook too much, they won’t be staying long, better not waste it.”

Upon hearing this, Ding Yuejun smiled and nodded, saying: ”Alright.”

After they left, Yiyi couldn’t help but sigh: ”Looks like Sister’s mother-in-law knows how to handle things, but since they wish to visit Shangjing, we just need to arrange it properly.”

Ding Yuejun seemed indifferent as she said: ”As long as she treats Xiao Hong well, nothing else matters.”

”That’s true.”

Yiyi smiled and didn’t say anything more after hearing this.

Seeing it was still early, the mother and daughter went to the street to buy more things. After shopping, they returned home directly, but on the way back, Yiyi’s expression darkened.

Noticing her daughter’s expression, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but ask: ”What’s wrong, Yiyi?”

Yiyi didn’t speak but cautiously glanced around, before gradually slowing down while holding her mother’s hand.

At this point, even Ding Yuejun felt something was off, so she stopped asking and just nervously stayed by her daughter’s side.

After a while, Yiyi frowned deeply and quickly turned to run back a short distance.

Although Ding Yuejun didn’t understand, she didn’t ask anything, just stood there waiting for her daughter. When Yiyi returned, she asked: ”Was something wrong just now?”

”I felt like we were being followed, but when I noticed, those people receded.” At the end, Yiyi couldn’t help but wonder about their purpose.

Ding Yuejun was somewhat worried.

”Could it be those people wanting to harm us again?”

Thinking of past kidnapping incidents, she couldn’t help but worry.

Yiyi shook her head, saying: ”It doesn’t seem like that; otherwise, those people would have acted already.”

”Then we should hurry back.”

Upon hearing this, Ding Yuejun quickly held her daughter’s hand, intending to return quickly to avoid more danger.

Yiyi didn’t oppose and went home with her mother directly.

When the next day arrived, they got up early to prepare, and Mo Xiaohong’s family came over early as well.

”Mom, let me help you.”

Upon hearing this, Ding Yuejun quickly said: ”Xiao Hong, go sit down. Today you’re a guest, you shouldn’t do this.”

”Mom, why are you being so formal with me?”

Mo Xiaohong said and quickly went to help.

Seeing this, Ding Yuejun didn’t insist further.

While Mo Xiaohong felt a bit apologetic and said to Ding Yuejun: ”Mom, I’m sorry for the trouble my mother-in-law caused you, when we go in spring, I’ll accompany them properly, so don’t worry.”

Upon hearing this, Yiyi laughed: ”Sister, you’re going for the first time too, unfamiliar with the roads, so I’ll accompany you and show you around when the time comes.”

”It’s alright, we can ask for directions anyway.”

But Yiyi said: ”In Shangjing, you can’t just wander on your own; I’ll lead you around when the time comes.”

”Yes, Xiao Hong, don’t feel embarrassed, we’re family, there’s no need for formality.”

Seeing this, Mo Xiaohong felt relieved as Ding Yuejun and Yiyi genuinely didn’t mind.

At lunch, the family sat together warmly and had a lively meal.

Originally, Mo Xiaohong wanted to stay longer but Little Treasure needed to nap, so they finally went back. ”Mom, Yiyi, we’re heading back now, safe travels to Shangjing tomorrow.”
