The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 499: Chapter 498: Why Is She Here

Hearing Mo Xiaohong’s words, Ding Yuejun nodded in agreement and said, ”Yes, women should really go out and work.”

It was only after she opened her clothing store that she understood the principle that a woman can only stand on her own when she earns her own money. Economic independence allows one to be more independent and not have to worry about others’ opinions every day, so she naturally agreed with Mo Xiaohong’s decision.

Mo Xiaohong nodded with a smile upon hearing this.

Now that Ding Yuejun had the ability, she also wanted to help Mo Xiaohong, so she suggested, ”Have you ever thought about starting a business yourself? If you don’t have enough funds, I can provide some.”

Mo Xiaohong quickly shook her head and said, ”No need, Mom, I’ve actually already decided where to work before. I’ll be working at the school cafeteria in town.”

Hearing this, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but be a little surprised.

”Have you already asked about it?”

Mo Xiaohong nodded and said, ”Yes, although I can’t start right now, I’ll wean Little Treasure off breastfeeding in the spring. They’ll be hiring then, so I should be able to get in.”

”But having your own store might be more flexible. If you work at the school, the salary is fixed. Have you really thought this through?” Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but ask again.

Mo Xiaohong knew that Ding Yuejun wanted to help her, but she also knew her own capabilities, so she didn’t rashly decide to open a store.

”Mom, I know my own limits. If I open a store, I might even lose money in the end. I prefer a stable job. Even if the salary is a bit low, it’s enough to support our small family, and Jiahe is also earning money, so you don’t have to worry.”

Seeing Mo Xiaohong’s contented demeanor, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but smile. She no longer insisted, only saying, ”Since you’ve already made up your mind, I won’t say more, but call me if you encounter any difficulties.”

Mo Xiaohong naturally nodded.

As they spoke, time passed quickly, and Zeng Jiahe had already prepared lunch. Once he had all the dishes on the table, he invited them to eat.

Seeing that Zeng Jiahe had prepared a big table of dishes, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but say, ”Jiahe, you’re too generous. There are only a few of us, why make so much?”

”Yes, brother-in-law, there’s no way we can finish all this,” Yiyi echoed.

”Mom, Yiyi, it’s rare for you to come over, so of course we should have a good meal. You’ve been in Shangjing for a while now, so you must have missed the hometown dishes here, right? You should eat more today.”

Seeing the familiar dishes, Ding Yuejun and Yiyi also felt very appetized and both ate quite a lot.

Ding Yuejun and Yiyi came specifically to visit Mo Xiaohong, and seeing she was doing well, they were at ease.

After lunch, they chatted with Mo Xiaohong for a while and then prepared to leave.

Mo Xiaohong felt a bit reluctant.

”Mom, Yiyi, are you leaving already? How long do you plan to stay here this time?”

Hearing this, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but smile, ”Don’t worry, we’ll come to see you again tomorrow. We’ll be staying in town for a few days and won’t leave until two days later.”

Hearing this, Mo Xiaohong was full of joy.

”That’s good. I was worried you would leave tomorrow.”

Zeng Jiahe, standing by the side, also said, ”Mom, Yiyi, ever since knowing you were coming over, Xiaohong has been smiling a lot more. You can keep her company and chat while you’re here; she’s had a hard time taking care of the kids by herself during this period.”

Because parents were getting older and somewhat lacked the energy, most of the child-rearing was up to Mo Xiaohong. He, too, deeply appreciated his wife’s efforts.

Upon hearing Zeng Jiahe’s words, Ding Yuejun wore a broad smile, ”Good, we’ll be over for the next couple of days, though we’ll be troubling you.”

”Mom, there’s no trouble at all. We’re all on break this New Year period, so we can all reunite and enjoy each other’s company.”

Seeing Zeng Jiahe speak like this, Ding Yuejun felt happy. It seemed Xiaohong was indeed fortunate to have such a considerate husband.

Yiyi also felt happy for her sister.

Although Zeng Jiahe wasn’t an exceptionally accomplished person, he was a simple and ordinary man, but he treated Mo Xiaohong really well. This kind of mundane, warm little life they shared was something many people only wish for.

So even though they weren’t like those wealthy people who could wear branded clothing or drive luxury cars, isn’t it most important for a family to be able to live happily together?

Therefore, Yiyi also chimed in, ”Brother-in-law, then we’ll bother you again tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow, why don’t you all come over to our place for a meal? After all, during the New Year, my sister should visit her family home, right?” She finished with a smile at both of them.

Zeng Jiahe nodded quickly upon hearing this, ”Yes, yes, of course we should go to the mother-in-law’s home for New Year’s greetings.”

After a few more exchanges, Ding Yuejun left with Yiyi.

As the two walked slowly along the road, looking at the surrounding scenery, they felt a bit sentimental.

”I never expected that upon returning, I would suddenly feel so nostalgic for this place,” Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but exclaim.

Yiyi couldn’t help but say, ”Yes, looking at these familiar streets, there’s just something that makes you feel nostalgic.”

But just as Yiyi finished speaking, she saw a familiar figure diagonally across from her. Afraid she might be mistaken, she couldn’t help but look forward again.

This time, she finally saw the person’s face, and only then did she realize she wasn’t mistaken at all. But... why was she here?

Just as Yiyi wanted to approach again, she suddenly noticed that the person had turned a corner and was gone.

”Yiyi, what’s wrong? Did you see someone you know?” Ding Yuejun asked, seeing her daughter’s expression.

Yiyi nodded, ”Yes, I did see someone familiar, but not that familiar. I’ve only met her once. She’s one of Tingyu’s friend’s partners, but what is she doing here? It’s really strange.”

Hearing this, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but laugh, ”You said you’ve only seen her once, so you probably don’t know all her relatives. Maybe she’s here visiting family for New Year’s.”

Hearing this, Yiyi felt relieved.

Yes, it’s the New Year season, and everyone’s out and about visiting friends and family, so maybe Ye Jia Ren also has relatives here. It seems that next time they meet, she could ask about it. It was indeed quite a coincidence that she ran into Ye Jia Ren here during the New Year, even though it seemed like she didn’t see her.

”Alright, Yiyi, let’s see if there are any shops open on the street so we can buy something to bring back and eat.”

Upon hearing this, Yiyi snapped out of it and stopped thinking about it, following her mother as they headed towards the street.
