The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 495: Chapter 494: New Year’s Visits

Ding Yuejun saw the young couple looking so harmonious and loving that she couldn’t help but laugh, then quickly called Gu Tingyu into the house. ”Tingyu, you and Yiyi sit for a bit first, I’ll go cut some fruit for you.”

”Mom, no need to busy yourself,” Gu Tingyu said at once.

But Ding Yuejun smiled and said, ”Cutting some fruit is easy, you two just sit and chat for a while.” With that, she went straight to the kitchen. When she came out carrying the fruit, she happened to hear Gu Tingyu asking Yiyi if she wanted to go to his house for dinner the next day.

Before Yiyi could answer, Ding Yuejun had already said, ”Yiyi, just go with Tingyu. It’s New Year, you should go and join in the lively atmosphere.”

Hearing this, Gu Tingyu quickly said, ”Thank you, Mom. We’ll come over to the house to pay New Year’s greetings on the second day of the new year.”

”All right.”

Just then, Old Master Ding walked in from outside. When he heard that his granddaughter was going to the Gu Family to pay New Year’s greetings on the first day of the new year, he felt a bit out of sorts. His granddaughter wasn’t even married yet, and she was already going to the Gu Family for New Year’s greetings.

But when he heard Gu Tingyu say they would come over to pay New Year’s greetings on the second day, his heart felt a bit more balanced.

Gu Tingyu had always known that Old Master Ding couldn’t bear to part with Yiyi, so he quickly started talking warmly with him.

Seeing Gu Tingyu like this, Old Master Ding naturally followed his lead and said a few words to him. At the very least, Gu Tingyu’s attitude was genuinely very good.

While they were talking, Ding Yating’s family also arrived.

As soon as Shu Yunfang came in, she saw Gu Tingyu sitting beside Old Master Ding. She couldn’t help lowering her head and biting her lip. When she raised her head again, her expression was the same as usual, with a sweet smile on her face. ”Grandpa, we’re here.”

Seeing his younger daughter’s family come in, Old Master Ding waved them over and said, ”Since you’re here, come sit down. In a bit we’ll all have a reunion dinner together.”

After all, she was his own daughter, so when it came to New Year, the old man still hoped the whole family could be together and complete.

Ding Yuejun also smiled and cheerfully invited them to sit, her manner very warm, though she didn’t say much. After all, she herself didn’t know what she could say to Ding Yating and her family.

Once they were seated, looking at the whole family gathered together, Ding Yating suddenly felt a bit sad.

Her own mother was still in prison, yet here they were, sitting together so happily and peacefully, eating New Year’s Eve dinner. Thinking of this, the smile on her face faded, and she hardly spoke while eating.

Seeing his younger daughter like this, Old Master Ding couldn’t help frowning. He felt his younger daughter was getting more and more prone to pulling a face. On such a festive day, she actually sat there with a cold expression, so his own expression cooled as well.

Shu Mingbo naturally sensed the change in Old Master Ding’s attitude, so he quickly kicked his wife’s foot under the table.

Only then did Ding Yating come back to herself, forcing a smile.

Gu Tingyu ignored the small gestures between them. He attentively picked dishes for Yiyi, peeled shrimp for her, and removed the fish bones.

Watching Gu Tingyu like this, Shu Yunfang finally couldn’t help saying, ”Yiyi really is blessed, to have such a good fiancé.”

Hearing this, Yiyi smiled and said, ”Yes, Tingyu treats me very well. Maybe I did something good in my past life, so I was able to find such a good partner.”

Shu Yunfang was so choked by this that she nearly exploded. She had had her eye on Gu Tingyu long ago, but who would have thought that after all the twists and turns, he’d end up with her cousin. At that thought, her chest felt tight with suffocation, yet she still couldn’t say anything, only forcing a smile and saying, ”Then congratulations to you.”

The meal ended with everyone harboring their own thoughts. Ding Yating’s family didn’t stay long; after saying a few words to Old Master Ding, they left.

As soon as the family of three stepped out of the Ding Family’s gate, Shu Mingbo turned to Ding Yating and said, ”Yating, I already told you on the way here that you had to make sure to please your father, so how could you still sit there with such a cold face? Even I felt it was bad luck seeing you like that. It’s the New Year, who are you pulling a face for?”

Hearing this, Ding Yating felt utterly wronged.

”Mom is still in prison, and yet we’re here having such a lively New Year. How can I not feel sad?”

”Enough, don’t bring your mom up to me. If it weren’t for her, would we be in such an awkward position in front of your father now?”

When it came to Chen Meilian, Shu Mingbo was full of anger. All his advantages had been ruined by her. Now, every time he came to his father-in-law’s house, he felt that the old man looked at him with nothing but displeasure. And his wife handled things so foolishly that he couldn’t lift his head in front of his father-in-law at all.

Hearing her husband talk like this, Ding Yating only felt even more wronged.

”How can you say that about me? You weren’t like this before.” His attitude toward her had gotten worse and worse, and today, for the first time, he’d actually scolded her outside like this, making her feel utterly humiliated.

Of course, Shu Mingbo hadn’t been like this before.

Back then, Ding Yating had been the only young lady of the Ding Family. He hadn’t had enough time to curry favor with her. But look now: Ding Yuejun was the true apple of Old Master Ding’s eye. It was as if he’d almost forgotten about their little family. Naturally, Shu Mingbo wouldn’t treat his wife the way he used to. Not that he would say so out loud. He just flung his hand in irritation and walked ahead. ℴ

Seeing Shu Mingbo like this, Ding Yating felt even more depressed.

Seeing her mother crying and sniffling, Shu Yunfang also felt somewhat impatient. ”Mom, stop crying here. Let’s hurry back.”

Seeing that neither her husband nor her daughter understood her, Ding Yating felt even more heartsore. It seemed that ever since Ding Yuejun had been found and brought back, her life had become a complete mess, and even the husband who had once loved her dearly had changed.

Thinking of this, a trace of resentment slowly rose in her heart. But she didn’t dwell on it, hurrying instead to catch up with her husband and daughter.

On the other side, Old Master Ding couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

In the past, although he hadn’t been very close to his younger daughter, she had at least been well-behaved and sensible. How come she now seemed more and more inconsiderate?

Seeing Old Master Ding like this, Ding Yuejun said, ”Dad, how can you be sighing during the New Year? Come, have some fruit. Later we’ll watch TV together. I heard there’s a Spring Festival gala on tonight.”

Hearing this, Old Master Ding stopped thinking too much and quickly smiled. ”All right.”

The family sat together and watched the Spring Festival gala. Seeing that it was getting late, Gu Tingyu finally left, reluctantly parting from Yiyi.

But early the next morning, he came again to pick Yiyi up.

Yiyi picked up the gifts she had prepared long ago and went with him to visit the two elders of the Gu Family.

Old Mrs. Gu was very happy to see Yiyi.

”Yiyi, you’re here. You look really beautiful today.”

Today, Yiyi had deliberately worn a bright red outfit, very festive. Just looking at her filled the old lady with joy.

”Grandma, happy New Year.”

Just then, Mr. Gu also walked over. Yiyi quickly greeted him as Grandpa and wished him a happy New Year, then put the gifts she had brought off to the side.

Mr. Gu and Old Mrs. Gu took out the red envelopes they had prepared beforehand and handed them to Yiyi, saying, ”Happy New Year.”
