Chapter 191: Chapter 123: I Won’t Be a Saint, but I Won’t Be a Devil Either

Xu Yun came out.

Liang Yan wiped her mouth, completely satisfied.

The office door opened.

Qin Chuan was about to raise hell when he saw it wasn’t his wife who came out, but a man. He froze.

The man looked a little familiar.

Then he remembered. He’d seen him once at the hot pot restaurant—it was President Xu, Liang Yan’s investor.

Qin Chuan asked in confusion, ”President Xu, what are you...?”

”Oh, I was just discussing a project worth a few hundred million with President Liang.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”We’re done now. Sorry to have kept you waiting outside for so long. You can go in now. I’ll be leaving.”

”Of course, President Xu.”

When Qin Chuan heard ”a few hundred million,” his heart skipped a beat. ”Let me see you out,” he said politely.

”No need. I can see myself out.”

”Alright then. Take care, President Xu.”

Qin Chuan’s posture was very deferential, with an obvious hint of sycophancy.

’After all, if I can get on good terms with a man like him, he might think of me for future projects.’

’No wonder Liang Yan has been drawing a clear line between us lately, turning our fake divorce into a real one.’

’She must have latched onto President Xu and gotten bold.’

Qin Chuan snorted angrily. Shedding the humble demeanor he’d shown President Xu, he pushed the door open and stormed in.

He stared at Liang Yan, who was already sitting primly behind her desk, and asked coldly, ”Well? What were you and President Xu doing in here just now?”

”What’s it to you?”

Liang Yan sat firmly in her executive chair, displeased. ”If you have something to say, say it. If not, get out. I’m busy.”

”Hah. I know even if you don’t tell me.”

Qin Chuan poured himself a cup of coffee and sneered, ”I never would have guessed. Playing with projects worth hundreds of millions now, are we? Aren’t you afraid of biting off more than you can chew and choking on it?”

”A project worth hundreds of millions?”

Liang Yan froze for a moment, then asked, confused, ”What are you talking about?”

”Stop pretending. President Xu told me everything on his way out.”

Qin Chuan mocked, ”He said he was just discussing a project worth hundreds of millions with you. What, trying to keep it all for yourself?”

”Er...”

Hearing this, Liang Yan’s mind clicked. She blushed, then said with a straight face, ”You want a piece of it too?”

”If you’re willing to give me a cut, I can drop the matter of our assets.”

”Well, I doubt he’d be willing.”

Liang Yan said, ”You can forget about that. Just tell me what you came here for today.”

”Give me back the last short-form drama investment of three million!”

Qin Chuan continued, ”Otherwise, I’ll see you in court. My lawyer said that if we really sue over our previous assets, you’re not guaranteed to win.”

”Fine. I’ll have accounting wire it to you immediately. Just sign an agreement for me.”

Liang Yan agreed. ”Let’s part on good terms. Once I give you this money, don’t come bothering me again.”

”...” Qin Chuan was speechless.

He hadn’t expected Liang Yan to be so agreeable this time, promising the money without a fight.

’Looks like with a multi-hundred-million-dollar project in her hands, she can’t be bothered with my pocket change anymore.’

’He really had to see her in a new light.’

Ever since his wife returned from her trip to Shanghai, she had changed completely.

Compared to before, with a big-shot backer like President Xu supporting her, she was clearly much more confident.

”I have one more condition!”

Liang Yan asked, ”What is it?”

”Find some time to help me set up a dinner with President Xu.”

”Fine. I can try.”

Liang Yan asked, ”Anything else?”

”No.”

”Alright.” Liang Yan called her accountant in and said, ”Wire three million to President Qin’s account.”

”Understood, President Liang.”

After sending her husband, Qin Chuan, away, Liang Yan locked the door again.

Then she went back to her private lounge and started to put on a pair of panties.

It turned out that fellow Xu Yun had been so rough earlier that her original pair had been torn to shreds.

Since she was wearing a short skirt, she had been forced to stay seated behind her desk the whole time, not daring to stand up.

It was quite drafty.

Luckily, she had a spare pair in her lounge; otherwise, she would have had to go commando all day.

Returning to her desk, Liang Yan began to look at the data for her short-form drama.

Although it had only been a day, the current numbers suggested that her project was a success.

She would definitely make a profit; the only question was how much.

This was also why she had so readily agreed to give the three million back to Qin Chuan.

The three million had been invested after they received their divorce certificate. If the project turned a profit and he sued her for his share, she would have been legally obligated to give him a cut proportional to his investment.

Xu Yun was already set to take a large chunk of the profits from this drama. If she had to split the rest with Qin Chuan, there would be almost nothing left for her after all her hard work.

By giving him the money now, it was equivalent to him pulling out his investment early.

Any money she made from now on would have absolutely nothing to do with him.

...

After leaving Liang Yan’s company and blowing off some steam, Xu Yun felt much more relaxed.

As for his relationship with Liang Yan, Xu Yun simply saw her as a fuck buddy from the business world.

When he was free and felt like it, he’d arrange a session.

Neither of them interfered in the other’s life.

But Xu Yun was confident that with his Eight Pieces of Brocade, few women, after experiencing his prowess, would ever think about another man.

He returned home, rested for a bit, then changed into his gear and went to the fitness center.

Zhang Jiaxin was very happy to see him.

”Brother Xu, you had time to come train today?”

Their last session had been ruined by Sun Yi, and she hadn’t seen Xu Yun for several days.

Every time she called to ask him to work out, he would either refuse or simply not reply to her messages.

But Zhang Jiaxin wasn’t upset at all. ’A man like Brother Xu must be very busy,’ she thought. ’It’s understandable if he doesn’t have time to reply to my texts.’
