Chapter 185: Chapter 121: Are You Sure You Were Lonely and Cold Last Night?

Yu Xuan didn’t go back to her room all night.

She was mostly afraid of waking Su Mu and getting caught.

After sleeping in Xu Yun’s room until dawn, she got up early and waited in the living room.

Su Mu came out of her room, looked at the other woman, and pretended she didn’t know anything about last night.

She stretched, smiled, and asked, ”When did you get up? I didn’t hear a thing.”

”I’ve been up for a little while.”

Yu Xuan replied calmly, ”Miss Su, why don’t you sleep in a little longer?”

”Couldn’t sleep. I have trouble with unfamiliar beds.”

Su Mu glanced toward Xu Yun’s bedroom and asked, ”And Xu Yun? Not up yet?”

”The Boss is still resting.”

”Last night must have been pretty tiring.”

Su Mu muttered to herself, then asked, ”Want to go out for breakfast together?”

”No, thank you. I’ll wait for the Boss to get up.”

”Don’t wait for him. He probably won’t get up until the sun is high in the sky.”

Su Mu took her hand and said, ”Let’s go find something to eat. We can bring something back for him, too.”

”Alright.”

Yu Xuan awkwardly followed Su Mu out. On their way, Su Mu suddenly asked, ”You know about my relationship with Xu Yun, right?”

”I do.” Yu Xuan nodded.

’I couldn’t lie about this, even if I wanted to.’

”After we get back today, help me keep this a secret. Don’t let Jinshu find out.”

”Don’t worry, Miss Su.”

Yu Xuan replied, ”I won’t say anything without the Boss’s permission.”

”Thank you.”

As she spoke, Su Mu took a box of pills from her bag, handed it to Yu Xuan, and said, ”Remember to find some water and take this later. Better to be safe.”

Yu Xuan was speechless.

She stared at the pills in her hand, stunned for a moment as a sense of panic rose in her heart.

”Miss Su, I...”

”It’s okay. You don’t need to explain.”

Su Mu said calmly, ”Men are often careless and don’t think about these things, but we have to look out for ourselves, you know?”

”I understand.”

At that moment, Yu Xuan’s feelings were more complicated than ever before.

’Su Mu knows what happened between me and Xu Yun last night!’

’But instead of getting angry or blowing up at me—a woman who’s just his secretary—she even thoughtfully gave me the pills.’

She couldn’t make sense of it.

Yu Xuan couldn’t help but ask, ”Miss Su, aren’t you angry?”

”Of course I’m angry. How could any woman not be angry about something like this?”

Su Mu smiled. ”But what’s the use in being angry? There’s no point.”

Yu Xuan fell silent.

”Xu Yun is just taking revenge on his former self right now. He has zero trust in love.”

Su Mu said self-deprecatingly, ”Believe it or not, if I were to throw a huge fit—crying, screaming, making a scene—he wouldn’t even bat an eye. He’d just turn around and find another woman.”

”The Boss wouldn’t be that kind of man, would he?”

”He is.”

Su Mu said with certainty, ”He has a lot of women around him, but he doesn’t love any of them. Or rather, he’s capable of ’loving’ any of them.”

”Then why are you still with him...?”

Su Mu thought for a moment, then answered honestly, ”I don’t know either. It’s just that when I’m with him, I don’t have to think about anything.”

”Oh.”

Su Mu asked in return, ”What about you?”

”I’m in it for the money. The Boss is very generous to me, and I can’t refuse any of his requests.”

Faced with Su Mu’s sudden candor, Yu Xuan asked, ”Do you look down on me?”

”No. Everyone has a different way of life. I may not understand it, but I respect it.”

Su Mu replied, ”But I want to tell you something, Yu Xuan. If one day I truly fall for him, or if we get together for real, I hope you’ll leave on your own. Of course, I’ll give you a sum of money.”

Yu Xuan was silent.

”I’m not your enemy. Your position means you’re fated to never be the official one. But when that time comes, I might become jealous and possessive, and I won’t be able to accept a secretary like you being around him all the time. Understand?”

”I understand.”

Yu Xuan was silent for a moment, then replied, ”Miss Su, if you and the Boss really get together, you just have to say the word. I’ll take the money and leave.”

”Thanks.”

After this simple heart-to-heart, the two of them ate the breakfast prepared by the hotel, with no ill feelings between them.

For one, Su Mu had long since come to terms with it all and didn’t mind Xu Yun fooling around with other women, as long as he didn’t develop real feelings for any of them.

For another, Yu Xuan’s relationship with Xu Yun was about money, not love, from the very beginning.

Now that Su Mu had laid things out in the open with her privately, she actually felt much more relieved.

After all, to say there was no psychological pressure from secretly sleeping with the Boss behind Miss Su’s back would be a lie.

Especially since she was living in their home.

Not far away, Qiao Yuanshan spotted the two of them. He hesitated for a moment, then walked over.

”Miss Su, good morning.”

Su Mu looked at the reappearing Qiao Yuanshan and said politely, ”Good morning.”

”It’s not good at all.”

Qiao Yuanshan gave a wry smile. ”Because of you, I couldn’t sleep a wink all night.”

Su Mu was speechless.

”I called your aunt. I just wanted to ask what was really going on.”

Qiao Yuanshan said, ”But your aunt told me she didn’t know you had a boyfriend and had never heard you mention it. In the end, it was through your cousin that I found out what was going on.”

”My cousin?” Su Mu frowned upon hearing this.

Because of Xu Yun, her relationship with her cousin hadn’t been very good lately.

That cousin was from her aunt’s side of the family, after all.

”I found out that the man from yesterday, Xu Yun, isn’t actually some rich second-generation heir or a boss. He’s just a junior employee from your cousin’s old company, right?”

Qiao Yuanshan said, ”Miss Su, given your standing, he’s not good enough for you at all.”
