Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Love Is Ageless, But You Can’t Mess Up the Generations

Jiangcheng University Town was home to many schools.

Consequently, there were also plenty of female university students, and plenty of luxury cars driving to and fro.

This was especially true at the gates of the art and media schools.

Every so often, a luxury car would appear at the school gates, either picking someone up or dropping them off.

But without fail, the passenger was always a beautiful woman.

Song Xiaowei was wearing a pink, three-quarter-sleeve jacket over a pair of gray shorts with side slits. A small pink bag was slung over one shoulder, complementing her oval face and the long, slightly wavy hair she had swept over to one side.

She was currently standing by the side of the road, coffee in hand, waiting for someone from her internship company to pick her up.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a red Porsche parked not far away. ’It must be another rich kid here to pick up some girl from the university,’ she thought.

At her university, there were many beautiful, materialistic girls.

They sold their bodies to attain a life of comfort and luxury.

Song Xiaowei felt a certain disdain for this kind of lifestyle.

’I’m good-looking and I have excellent professional skills. I don’t need to rely on a man. Once I start working, I’m sure I can build the life I want for myself.’

She didn’t want to rely on any man; she wanted to earn her own money and spend it as she pleased.

All those designer bags, clothes, cars, and jewelry the other girls had—she would have them all, sooner or later.

Just then, another pretty girl walked up to her. She wasn’t quite as beautiful as Song Xiaowei, but she was dressed very sexily and fashionably.

Song Xiaowei recognized her; they were in the same department.

She was also one of the materialistic types.

”Xiaowei, waiting for a rideshare again?”

The girl approached her with a false air of kindness and asked with a smile, ”My boyfriend’s about to pick me up in his BMW 5 Series. I can have him give you a lift.”

”Thank you, but I don’t need a ride.”

Song Xiaowei looked at her, thinking irritably, ’I’d rather not have people mistake me for someone with a boyfriend old enough to be my father.’

”Song Xiaowei, what do you know?”

The girl didn’t get angry, simply continuing with a smile, ”Age doesn’t matter in love. All that matters is that we like each other.”

”His son is probably the same age as you. You’re just his little mistress.”

”That’s still better than you having nothing,”

the girl retorted, dangling the small handbag on her wrist. ”Any one of my bags costs more than your entire wardrobe. And I get chauffeured everywhere I go.

Besides, my boyfriend has already promised to get me a job at a TV station after graduation. I’ll be hosting my own show right from the start.

Not like you, having to send out resumes everywhere just to find an internship.

I think you’re just green with envy.”

Song Xiaowei was speechless. ”...”

”Oh, she’s envious that you found yourself a good sugar daddy?”

As the two were arguing, a man nearby suddenly stood up, put his phone away, and cut in with a smile, ”Age might not matter in love, but you shouldn’t mess with the family tree.”

”...”

The girl glared at Xu Yun, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere to defend Song Xiaowei. ”We’re talking here. What’s it to you?” she snapped.

”You’re right, it’s not my business. I just couldn’t stand listening to this anymore,”

Xu Yun said with a grin. ”This is the first time I’ve seen a mistress be so proud of it.”

The girl was speechless. ”...”

It turned out Xu Yun had arrived a while ago.

Seeing that he was early, he decided not to call and rush her, choosing to wait by the school gates instead.

He took the opportunity to explore the features of his new phone.

Who would have thought that after overhearing the conversation between the two women beside him, he would realize that the Song Xiaowei he was there to pick up was the beautiful woman who had been standing right next to him all along.

And that’s what led to the current scene.

After shutting down the materialistic girl, Xu Yun turned to Song Xiaowei with a smile. ”Hi, I’m Xu Yun. The company sent me to pick you up for your internship.”

”Thank you.”

Song Xiaowei looked at Xu Yun, a little surprised.

She gave him a polite, courteous smile and asked, ”Where’s your car? We can go now.”

”Don’t tell me you took public transit here?”

Seeing this, the girl immediately sneered, ”Xiaowei, look what kind of pathetic company you’re interning for. They don’t even send a car to pick you up.”

”The company may be pathetic, but I have a car.”

Xu Yun pulled out his car key and pressed a button.

BEEP BEEP.

The Porsche 911 parked nearby flashed its lights.

Unlocked.

Xu Yun grinned. ”Well, it’s just a humble Porsche. It certainly can’t compare to your sugar daddy’s 5 Series BMW.”

Hearing this, the girl’s face went pale, then flushed red. ”...”

Song Xiaowei was also stunned.

She never expected that the Porsche parked there this whole time actually belonged to the man standing before her.

But seeing the other girl so thoroughly humiliated, Song Xiaowei felt a surge of delight. She said to Xu Yun, ”Don’t mind her. Let’s go.”

”Okay.”

Under the girl’s hate-filled glare, Song Xiaowei got into the passenger seat of Xu Yun’s car, and they drove off.

Other students nearby who witnessed the scene without knowing the context couldn’t help but sigh to themselves.

”I can’t believe it. Even someone as proud as Song Xiaowei has fallen, becoming some rich kid’s girlfriend.”

”It was bound to happen sooner or later.”

”Yeah, aren’t beautiful women always reserved for the rich?”

...

Inside the Porsche, Song Xiaowei found herself admiring the car’s interior, but she didn’t let it show.

She said to Xu Yun, ”Thank you for helping me back there.”

”No problem. I couldn’t stand her either.”

Xu Yun said, ”We might have a small delay. The dealership just messaged me that the license plates are in. We’ll have to swing by there to get them installed before we head to the office.”

”That’s fine, I’m not in a rush.”

Song Xiaowei smiled politely. ”Besides, I’m in your car now. I guess I have to go wherever you take me.”

”True. Otherwise, you’d have to find your own way to the office.”

Song Xiaowei: ”...”

And so, Xu Yun drove Song Xiaowei to the Porsche dealership. He found the saleswoman who had helped him before and got the license plates installed.

When the saleswoman saw Song Xiaowei, she began to understand why Mr. Xu had left her behind the other day.

’So he already had someone better.’

’A man accustomed to fine dining naturally wouldn’t be interested in a buffet.’

She knew her place. She might be prettier than the average person, but after being with so many men, she had lost a certain kind of class. She knew she couldn’t compare to a truly beautiful woman.

Looking at Xu Yun’s new license plate, Song Xiaowei remarked, ”Wow, that’s a really nice plate number.”

”I paid extra for it.”

Xu Yun added, ”It’s a shame there wasn’t a better one available. I was hoping for one with five identical digits.”

Song Xiaowei was speechless. ”...”

Once the plates were on, it was lunchtime. They took the opportunity to score a free meal at the dealership’s cafeteria.

And you know what? The food wasn’t half bad.

On the way back to the office from the dealership, Song Xiaowei asked tentatively, ”Brother Xu, your family doesn’t own the company, does it?”

”No, you’re giving me too much credit.”

Xu Yun replied, ”I’m just a lowly office worker.”

”Who are you kidding?”

Song Xiaowei laughed. ”A lowly office worker who can afford a Porsche?”

”It’s not mine. It belongs to my supervisor.”

Xu Yun lied without skipping a beat. ”When I found out I was picking up a beautiful intern, I specially borrowed her car to make an impression.”

Song Xiaowei was speechless. ”...”

Seeing that she was a bit awkward and had no interest in continuing the conversation, Xu Yun was more than happy to let it drop.

An hour later, they arrived at the company.

Xu Yun handed Song Xiaowei off to the receptionist to be taken to the HR department, then returned to his own desk.

He pulled out his phone, about to read a novel, when Xiaopang from the next desk snatched it out of his hand.

Xu Yun asked, confused, ”What are you doing?”

”Is this a Huawei Extraordinary Master? You bought a new phone?”

”Yeah, what about it?”

”This is so cool!”

Xiaopang was overcome with envy. ”How much did this whole setup cost you?” he asked curiously.

”After the discount, I think it was 15,000.”

”Damn!”

Thanks to Xiaopang broadcasting the news, everyone in the office soon knew Xu Yun had bought a new phone.

His male colleagues were amazed and crowded around, each taking a turn to hold it and try it out.

They couldn’t get enough of it.

’I just bought a phone, what’s the big deal?’ Xu Yun thought. He didn’t think it was anything worth being so surprised about.

He suddenly realized that during his recent period of frequent, high-end spending, his perspective on money had subconsciously begun to change.

He was becoming detached from the way ordinary people thought.

A phone that cost over 10,000 might be nothing to him now.

But for someone from an average family, it was an extravagant and reluctant expense.
