Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Great, Now You’re Being Picky

He hung up the phone with his mom.

Xu Yun killed time at the office until the end of the workday, then rode the elevator down with his colleagues.

When they reached the first floor, Manager Li looked at Xu Yun, who hadn’t moved to exit, and reminded him, ”This is the first floor. Aren’t you getting out?”

”Nope.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”I’m going to the parking garage today, too.”

”What are you going to the garage for? You don’t even have a car.”

”Oh, my mistake.”

Xu Yun replied, ”I went and bought one after work yesterday.”

Manager Li was rendered speechless.

’For real? Or is he lying?’

’I don’t believe him!’

The two of them went to the garage together, where Xu Yun discovered that Su Mu’s car was surprisingly still there.

’That’s strange. Didn’t she come down a while ago?’

Manager Li, standing beside him, looked at Xu Yun and sneered, ”So where’s your car? I’d love to see what kind of car you bought.”

”The one right in front of you is mine.”

”Hahaha...”

Manager Li looked at the Porsche 911 before them and scoffed, ”Xu Yun, do you have any idea how much this car costs? Over a million. If you can afford this car, I’ll eat it right here in front of you.”

”Those are your words.”

Xu Yun coolly pulled a car key with the Porsche logo from his pocket and gently pressed the unlock button.

”BEEP BEEP!”

The headlights of the red sports coupe before them immediately flashed twice.

Manager Li stared in disbelief.

’This car is really his?’

’No, wait, how could he possibly afford this car?!’

For a moment, Manager Li couldn’t accept this reality.

”Xu Yun, you rented this, right?”

”He bought it.”

Su Mu suddenly emerged from behind them. ”I can vouch for that,” she said.

Manager Li was speechless.

Xu Yun smiled. ”Manager Li, a man has to be true to his word, you know.”

”Hmph!”

With a dark expression, Manager Li spun around without a word, silently left, and drove off in his beat-up Volkswagen.

His retreating figure looked somewhat desolate.

[Faced with mockery from Manager Li, the Host has counterattacked as he pleased. The Porsche shattered the target’s composure. Reward: 50,000 in cash.]

Current bank balance: 4.27 million.

Xu Yun smiled happily.

’Showing off like that feels amazing.’

’Manager Li is so much more likable this way. Not only does he provide me with great emotional satisfaction, but I can also farm him for cash.’

After Manager Li left, Su Mu smiled. ”Bullying poor Manager Li on purpose, does that give you a sense of accomplishment?”

”If I got rich and didn’t even show off a little in front of someone I can’t stand, wouldn’t that be like wearing silk brocade in the dark? What’s the point of that!”

Xu Yun looked at Su Mu and teased, ”Sister Su, why haven’t you left yet? Were you waiting for me in the garage on purpose?”

”Yes.”

Su Mu glanced at his Porsche 911 and said, ”I was going to say that it’s hard to get a taxi after work and offer to give you a ride home out of the kindness of my heart. But it seems that’s not necessary now.”

”How about I give you a ride home today?”

Xu Yun said, ”And you can get a feel for my new car. Don’t worry, my driving is top-notch.”

”Another woman was already sitting in that passenger seat last night, wasn’t she?”

Su Mu said with some disdain, ”It’s not like I don’t have a car. Why should I ride in yours?”

With that, she turned and got into her own car.

Xu Yun was left speechless.

’Fine, be picky then!’

’Suit yourself.’

He deliberately shouted, ”If you don’t want a ride, I’ll just go pick up that pretty girl from last night again!”

Su Mu glared at him, then stomped on the gas in response and sped out of the garage.

Xu Yun mused, ”Feisty. I like it.”

’Sigh, of all the women in my life right now, she’s probably the highest difficulty level.’

’Because she’s really not after my money.’

’The crucial part is, she’s not just stacked, she’s smart, too!’

After a moment of reflection, Xu Yun drove his sports car toward Jiangshang Mall.

Little did he know, after hearing what he said, Su Mu hadn’t gone far. Instead, she had stopped outside, pretending to leave, and once Xu Yun’s car came out, she quietly followed him.

Sitting in her car, Su Mu felt conflicted.

She never imagined she would one day be tailing a man.

And her own subordinate, at that.

When her own husband had an affair, she hadn’t tailed him. She had hired a private investigator to do the dirty work.

But she was just so curious.

She desperately wanted to see what the woman who was with Xu Yun last night looked like.

’Could she really be more charming than me?’

Perhaps this was that damn competitive spirit between women.

Su Mu followed him all the way to the mall, where she saw him walk into a Gucci store.

As soon as Xu Yun entered the store, the saleswoman at the door recognized him and knew this was a customer for Ning Qian.

She greeted him with a smile and said enthusiastically, ”Mr. Xu, Xiaoqian is still with another customer. If you’re not in a hurry, you can wait for her in the lounge area.”

”It’s fine. You all go on with your work. Don’t mind me.”

As if he owned the place, Xu Yun made his way to the lounge area. A sales associate poured him a cup of tea and then left.

From a distance, as soon as Ning Qian learned that Xu Yun had arrived, she immediately handed her current customer off to another saleswoman and happily hurried over to the lounge area.

After all, she was still on the clock, so she couldn’t be too obvious.

Upon seeing Xu Yun, she smiled. ”Hello, Mr. Xu. How may I help you?”

”I need to buy a few more pieces of clothing for my mom.”

Still worried his mom would just sell them again, Xu Yun added, ”They don’t have to be too nice this time. Just average is fine.”

”Alright, Mr. Xu.”

While they were picking out clothes, Ning Qian whispered happily, ”Why did you come?”

”I was worried, so I came to see you.”

Xu Yun asked, ”How are you feeling? Any discomfort at work today?”

”I’m fine.”

Ning Qian blushed and said, ”It’s just that I can’t walk too fast.”

”Ah, I guess I got too carried away last night,” Xu Yun said, feeling a bit guilty.

”It’s not your fault.”

Ning Qian glanced around and whispered shyly, her voice barely audible, ”To be honest... by the end, I wanted it too.”

”...”

Xu Yun couldn’t help but laugh. ”If you’re not feeling well, just take the day off to rest. I’ll cover your lost wages.”

”No need, I’m not that delicate.”

Ning Qian thought Xu Yun had come to see her for another reason. She said, ”If you really want to... I can today, too.”

”Forget it. Do you think I’m some kind of sex fiend?”

Xu Yun rolled his eyes at her. ”You just rest up. When you’re feeling better, I’ll take you out shopping and for some good food to help you recover.”

”Mm-hmm.”

While they were talking, Ning Qian hadn’t been idle. She had already picked out four items of clothing, totaling just over 50,000 yuan.

It met Xu Yun’s requirements: average, not too expensive.

After all, not everything in a luxury store is ridiculously expensive; there are different tiers.

It’s just that there’s a lower limit; the cheapest items still start at several thousand.

After he paid, the system didn’t give a cash reward this time.

’I guess the system determined this wasn’t an action born from my own desires.’

Xu Yun said to Ning Qian, ”I won’t take the clothes with me. I’ll send you an address on WeChat later. Just help me mail them.”

”Okay.”

”Alright then, I’m heading out.”

Ning Qian saw him out and whispered a reminder, ”Drive carefully.”

After saying that, she quickly gave him a peck on the cheek.

This scene was also witnessed by Su Mu from a distance.

’So it’s her?’

When Ning Qian returned to the store, Wang Shengmei came over.

She sneered, ”I was wondering how much your sugar daddy was going to spend this time. Only a little over 50,000?”

”None of your business.”

”I heard you left with him after dinner last night?”

Wang Shengmei looked Ning Qian up and down and smirked. ”Judging by your condition today, you slept with him for the first time last night, didn’t you?”

”So what if I did?”

Ning Qian said coldly, ”Just worry about yourself. You don’t need to be concerned with my affairs.”

”I’m just saying it’s a raw deal for you.”

Wang Shengmei smiled. ”Men are all like that. They’re incredibly generous before they get what they want, but once they have you, they change. Look, from 300,000 before to 50,000 now—that’s reality.

After he sleeps with you a few more times, he probably won’t even come back at all.”

”That’s my choice.”

Ning Qian thought of the small gold bar Xu Yun had given her that morning and said with disdain, ”The way he treats me is something you and those old men of yours could never compare to.”

”Hmph, we’ll see about that,” Wang Shengmei snapped, infuriated.

Seeing another customer enter the store, Wang Shengmei immediately rushed forward to greet them.

”Ma’am, welcome to the Gucci boutique.”

Wang Shengmei asked with a smile, ”How may I help you?”

”I’d like to buy some clothes.”

Su Mu, who had entered the store right after Xu Yun left, let her gaze pass over the woman in front of her. Looking at Ning Qian in the distance, she said impassively, ”I want her to help me choose.”

Wang Shengmei was speechless.

Ning Qian was utterly confused.

She looked at Su Mu, completely bewildered. ’I don’t think I know her.’
