Chapter 28: Chapter 28: How the Tables Have Turned

Xu Yun arrived at a Chow Taifook jewelry store in Guotai Mall.

This was the store that was holding an anniversary event.

Xu Yun was no stranger to this brand. Who hadn’t bought gold jewelry from them before?

Back when his company got this small contract, they decided to select the best proposal for the project plan.

So, instead of assigning it to a specific planning team, all the planners were allowed to participate, and the best plan would be chosen.

As it turned out, the proposal he wrote was the one approved by the client.

Because of this, he even received a 10,000 yuan commission from the company, snatching the money right from under Manager Li!

Xu Yun arrived at the scene and found the person in charge of the event—a woman who looked to be about twenty-six or twenty-seven.

She was dressed stylishly with slightly curled hair and was decked out in a full set of accessories: earrings, a necklace, a watch, and more.

In the past, Xu Yun would have been extremely deferential when facing a client like her. But now? The power of money made it impossible for him to feel inferior; he couldn’t bring himself to bow down anymore.

He even felt a little confident.

The woman was also a bit surprised when she first saw Xu Yun.

Manager Li had said he was just a junior employee.

But judging by his expensive clothes, his demeanor, and his aura, he didn’t seem like an ordinary white-collar worker.

The woman stepped forward and asked with a smile, a hint of doubt in her voice, ”You’re Xu Yun, from Tianyu Media Company?”

”Yes, that’s me.”

”Hello, I’m the manager of this store. My name is Jiang Peiyao.”

Jiang Peiyao said, ”I believe Manager Li has already told you that we’d like to make some last-minute adjustments to your original event design plan.”

”That’s not a problem. I’ll listen to your ideas and requirements first. After we’ve discussed the details, I’ll go back and draft a new proposal for you.”

”Sounds good.”

Jiang Peiyao said, ”Shall we go to my office to discuss this in detail?”

The two of them then went into the office and began discussing and negotiating the event’s content and various details.

However, they couldn’t reach an agreement all morning.

After having lunch together, they continued their discussion for another two hours before finally settling on a basic plan.

”One more thing. It would be best to change the host to a woman.”

Jiang Peiyao explained, ”Someone young and attractive. After all, she’ll need to wear our company’s jewelry, which serves as a form of subtle promotion.”

”Everything else is easy enough, but finding a female host might be difficult.”

Xu Yun said, looking troubled, ”All of our company’s other female hosts are already booked. We really don’t have anyone available.”

”I don’t care how you do it, just figure out a way to get it done as soon as possible.”

Jiang Peiyao added, ”We don’t mind paying an extra fee.”

”Alright, I’ll report this to Manager Li when I get back.”

Xu Yun stood up. ”If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading out.”

”Mr. Xu.”

Jiang Peiyao suddenly smiled and asked, ”You know our store’s anniversary sale is a really big deal. Since you’re already here, why not take this great opportunity to buy something for your girlfriend and give her a surprise?”

”I don’t have a girlfriend.”

”You could buy something for your mother, then.”

”Manager Jiang, you’re really dedicated to your job.”

Xu Yun couldn’t help but laugh. ”Even in the middle of a business meeting, you don’t forget to pitch your products to a partner.”

”It’s a professional habit.”

Jiang Peiyao smiled. ”So, Mr. Xu, are you willing to give my business a little boost?”

”Alright, I’ll take a look.”

”Great, I’ll show you.”

Jiang Peiyao led Xu Yun into the main store area and asked, ”What does your mother like? Bangles? Bracelets? Necklaces?”

”Honestly, my mom seems to like anything as long as it’s gold.”

Xu Yun thought for a moment, then asked, ”Do you have any collector-grade gold products?”

”We do.”

Jiang Peiyao brought Xu Yun to a counter and began her introduction. ”This gold bar series is designed specifically for collectors.

We have 30-gram, 50-gram, 100-gram, 300-gram, and 500-gram bars, all of which have great collection value.

The current market price is nearly 600 yuan per gram, but for our anniversary event, we’re selling them for only 480 per gram. It’s an excellent opportunity, and I can let you have the sale price in advance.”

”Alright.”

Xu Yun said with a smile, ”Manager Jiang, I’ll take two of each type of gold bar you have in the counter.”

”Two of each? You want every single type?” Jiang Peiyao asked, surprised.

She thought he might buy a 50-gram bar at most, which would have been pretty good.

But who would have thought that he’d ask for two of each right off the bat!

The surrounding staff were also completely shocked.

Xu Yun retorted, ”What, you don’t have that much in stock?”

”We have the others, but we didn’t prepare that many of the 300-gram and 500-gram bars.”

Jiang Peiyao looked a bit embarrassed. ”After all, we usually just keep those on display like good luck charms. Most people buy the 30 and 50-gram ones; almost no one buys the 300 and 500-gram bars.”

”No problem. In that case, one each of the 300 and 500-gram bars is fine.”

Xu Yun said nonchalantly, ”Go ahead and wrap them up for me. And calculate the total price.”

”Of course, Mr. Xu.”

Jiang Peiyao quickly turned to her staff. ”What are you standing around for? Hurry up and pack them!”

”Ah, right away, Manager.”

A moment later, Jiang Peiyao brought a case over to Xu Yun and said politely, ”Mr. Xu, it’s all packed. The total comes to 422,400 yuan. I’ve taken the liberty of rounding it down for you, so you can just pay 422,000 yuan.”

”Thanks, then.”

Xu Yun took out his card, swiped it on the POS machine, and the payment went through!

’Sigh, that was impulsive. How did I end up buying a case full of gold bars?’

But in the next second, the system’s notification chimed.

[To win his mother’s favor, the Host decided to Do as You Please and purchase the store’s gold bar products. Such filial piety is commendable. Reward: 800,000 in cash!]

The balance on his bank card was now 2.1 million!

’Excellent! As a young person, I’m supposed to be an impulse spender!’

’If everyone were so rational, how would the country’s GDP ever go up?!’

’I spend, therefore I am proud!’

Even after Xu Yun’s payment went through, Jiang Peiyao couldn’t believe it. A single, casual sales pitch had just completed more than half of her entire day’s sales target.

From introduction to completed purchase, the whole process had taken less than five minutes!

This was the fastest sale she had ever made in her life.

Xu Yun picked up the exquisite case containing his little gold bars and said, ”Well, Manager Jiang, I’m off. If you have any more changes for the proposal, just give me a call.”

”Of course, Mr. Xu. Take care.” Jiang Peiyao’s smile was pure customer service, her attitude impossibly polite.

If she had been the ”client daddy” before, she now felt that the relationship between them had changed.

’This Xu Yun is my real client daddy!’

This made her feel that even if she found parts of the proposal unsatisfactory later, she wouldn’t have the nerve to bring them up.

After all, her store had only paid his company about 100,000 yuan for this event planning project.

And yet, while here to discuss work, he had casually dropped over 400,000 yuan on gold in her store!

How could she not be polite?

’Talk about the tables turning!’

After Xu Yun left, the staff members all gathered around and asked curiously, ”Manager Jiang, who was that customer? He’s so loaded!”

”Yeah, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen someone buy so many gold bars in one go.”

”He’s handsome and rich. I wish he were my boyfriend.”

”Dream on. The sun’s still up and you’re already daydreaming.”

”...”

Jiang Peiyao turned and shot them a glare. ”Alright, what’s with all the nosy questions? Get back to work!”

But then, she herself suddenly recalled what Xu Yun had said earlier.

’He said... he doesn’t have a girlfriend?’

’Then again, a rich man like him must have plenty of women flocking around him.’

Jiang Peiyao looked at her own reflection in a nearby mirror.

’If it were me...’ she subconsciously wondered, ’would I have a chance?’

But she quickly blocked the thought from her mind.
