Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: No Way, You Can Even Smell That?

Xu Yun returned to his desk, opened the folder, and looked at the project he was in charge of.

It was for the Pechoin Group—a new product launch event for their Jiangcheng branch.

’A case this big, and they want me to handle it?’

’When did my status and ability in the company get so high?’

Xiaopang from the next cubicle leaned over and asked, ”Xu Yun, what’s up?”

”Manager Li gave me a case.”

Xu Yun shook his head. ”I’m thinking about what I should do.”

”A case? I haven’t heard anything.”

Xiaopang took it and glanced at it, surprised. ”Wait a minute, wasn’t Manager Li supposed to be in charge of this case himself?”

Xu Yun was baffled. ”???”

Xiaopang explained, ”You weren’t at the company yesterday afternoon. This case was supposed to go to the more experienced Team Three.”

”But Manager Li snatched it right up, saying he could handle it.”

”...”

’So that’s how it is. He wants me to be the scapegoat!’

’If it goes well, it’s because of his brilliant leadership.’

’If it flops, it’s because I’m incompetent, right?’

’What a clever little scheme.’

DING~

A notification came in.

Xu Yun opened it. It was a message from Li Jinshu.

Li Jinshu: [Hey, did you pick up your car?]

Xu Yun: [Picked it up yesterday.]

Li Jinshu: [Huh? Why didn’t you ask me to come with?]

Xu Yun: [You were at work, weren’t you? I didn’t dare disturb you.]

Li Jinshu: [Aww, and here I was, hoping to be the first woman to ride in your sports car.]

Xu Yun: [That’s probably not going to happen. Someone already rode in it yesterday.]

Li Jinshu: [It wasn’t Su Mu, was it? (Surprised.jpg)]

Xu Yun: [You guess.]

Li Jinshu: [Then I’ll be the second!]

Xu Yun: [Second place is taken too.]

Li Jinshu: [Goodbye! We’re through.]

After finishing the chat, Xu Yun put his phone away. He looked up and saw Su Mu standing right beside him.

It made him jump.

It was just like getting caught red-handed by the boss while slacking off at work.

Xu Yun asked, exasperated, ”Manager Su, what are you doing? Don’t sneak up on people like that, you’ll give me a heart attack.”

”Pay attention. No phones during work hours.”

Su Mu gave him a deliberately cool glance and said, ”Come to my office. I have something to tell you.”

”Alright.”

Hearing this, Xu Yun agreed with a smile and followed her to the office.

Today, Su Mu was wearing a standard office lady outfit, the very picture of uniform-clad allure.

The moment he entered, he subconsciously closed the door.

Seeing this, Su Mu asked, ”What are you closing the door for?”

”Huh?”

Xu Yun feigned a bit of shyness. ”Wouldn’t it be a little too... stimulating with the door open?”

”What on earth is going through your mind right now!”

Su Mu instantly understood what he meant. She glared at him, a mix of shame and anger, and said, ”I’m here to talk about business.”

”Oh.”

Xu Yun found a chair, sat down comfortably, and said obediently, ”Sister Su, go ahead. I’m listening.”

”I heard from Manager Li that you need a young, pretty female host?”

”Yeah.”

Xu Yun explained, ”There were some changes to the case I’m in charge of. It’s a client request.”

”Are you sure?”

Su Mu said skeptically, ”I somehow suspect the ’young and pretty’ part was your own addition.”

”I’m not that kind of person.”

Xu Yun said with a look of deep affection, ”My heart now belongs only to...”

”Stop right there! I’m not some little girl who can be coaxed with a sweet nothing or two.”

As Su Mu spoke, she walked over to Xu Yun and sniffed lightly at his clothes.

Xu Yun asked, puzzled, ”What are you doing?”

”Next time you try to flirt with me, remember to change your clothes first.”

Su Mu exposed him. ”Did you know you still have the scent of another woman on you?”

”...”

’No way, she can even smell that?’

He guiltily lowered his head and sniffed his own clothes. ’There’s no smell.’

”Alright, don’t be embarrassed.”

Su Mu said nonchalantly, ”I’m not your wife. I couldn’t care less which woman you were messing around with, as long as you’re not late for work the next day.”

”Hey now, am I detecting a hint of jealousy?”

Xu Yun retorted with a smile, ”You’re not getting jealous over me, are you?”

”You’re overthinking it.”

Su Mu denied it. ”I called you in here to tell you that you’re in luck.”

”As it happens, a new intern, a recent graduate from Communication University, is starting tomorrow. Once you get her familiar with the procedures, you can have her do it.”

”Okay.”

Xu Yun nodded and walked out without a moment’s hesitation.

Even though Su Mu was wearing a sexy office-lady outfit today, a total uniform fantasy, after last night’s... release, he was still in his period of post-nut clarity.

His mind was as clear as a mirror, without a single impure thought.

When Su Mu saw how well-behaved Xu Yun was today, she actually felt a little disappointed.

She had specially picked out this outfit before leaving for work this morning.

’And he just ignored it.’

’Did he lose interest in me after getting his fill last night?’

The thought made her inexplicably unhappy.

’Men. You really can’t let them eat their fill.’

In the distance, Li Xiaoguang watched Xu Yun emerge from Su Mu’s office, his expression complex.

Lately, he had been keeping a close eye on Xu Yun and Su Mu’s interactions at the company.

If there was even the slightest unusual interaction between them, he would secretly take a picture with his phone and give it to the boss.

But every time Xu Yun went in, he would close the door.

He couldn’t see what they were doing or saying inside at all, leaving him no opportunity.

’But there are still a few days left.’

’I refuse to believe I won’t get my chance!’

Xu Yun had no idea that his good behavior had inadvertently offended someone, making her feel like she had lost her charm today.

Right now, he was contemplating how to handle the case Manager Li had given him.

’First, I could just throw it back at him. I’m not playing this game.’

’The result would be that I’d probably get fired, receive a severance package, and then the world would be my oyster. I could roam the country as I pleased.’

’Second, I could pay out of my own pocket to outsource it, get it done beautifully, and leave him speechless. Plus, I could score some points with the boss next week.’

’The result would be that I could temporarily stay at the company, slacking off and messing around in Jiangcheng. Plus, flirting with Su Mu in the office from time to time is also quite interesting.’

’Third... well, I haven’t thought of a third option yet.’

’I’ll just read a novel for now and wait for lunch.’

Ever since money stopped being a concern, Xu Yun had become truly invincible at the company.

As long as he finished the work he was assigned, he would just read novels to kill time.

Especially urban fiction.

For the past six months, he’d been reading a ”Shenhao” novel. It was very well-written and suited his tastes perfectly.

The only problem was its performance wasn’t great; it was kind of a flop.

Before, when he read it, he thought of it as the fantasy diary of a miserable wage slave on his deathbed.

Now, rereading it, it felt a bit like his autobiography!

But every time he got to a crucial part, the story would stop.

’That damn author is a master of cliffhangers!’

And if you wanted the author to post extra Chapters, the only way was usually to send a tip.

Before, Xu Yun of course couldn’t bear to part with the money. He was just a wage slave himself, where would he get the money to tip the author? It was good enough that he was supporting the official release by reading it legally.

But that wasn’t an issue anymore.

Seeing the author deliberately stop at another cliffhanger, he got so mad that he went straight to the reader group chat and @’d the damn author.

’I’m a rich man now. I can afford to be bold.’

[Angry Brother: @Hua Zhu, name your price. How much of a tip for one more Chapter?]
