Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: This Money Can Probably Only Buy a Sleeve!

[Angry Brother] was the username for Xu Yun’s account on the novel app.

The author of the book quickly popped up in response to his @mention.

[Hua Zhu: One Chapter per Alliance Leader, bro.]

[Angry Brother: How many Chapters do you have saved up?]

[Hua Zhu: That depends on how deep your pockets are, bro.]

’You want to see how deep my pockets are?’

Xu Yun’s lips twisted into a smirk.

[Angry Brother: Fine. I’ll send the donation now. If you don’t release those Chapters, I’ll have my lawyer pay you a visit.]

[Hua Zhu: Uh...]

Just as the author thought the reader was joking, a notification chimed in their author dashboard.

As it turned out, Xu Yun had opened the donation page on his phone, topped up his account with 100,000 yuan without a second thought, and sent the author a Golden Alliance Leader award.

He wasn’t trying to be a chump.

First, he wanted more Chapters; he was genuinely eager to read what happened next.

Second, it was a way to support a struggling author he liked, hoping to boost the book’s stats and increase its popularity.

It’s tough for a struggling author; you read what you can and cherish it.

After all, during the time he was being tormented by his ex-girlfriend, this book had been a great source of emotional support and psychological comfort.

He didn’t have the money before, so there was nothing to be done. His means were limited.

But now he had money and a system that turned his spending into earning, so of course he wouldn’t be stingy.

He’d squeeze the author’s entire stockpile dry in one go.

[In order to pressure the author of a favored novel for more Chapters, the Host has ’Done as He Pleased’ by belligerently awarding the author a Huang Jinmeng. Reward: 300,000 cash.]

Bank account balance: 4,250,000.

Soon, a banner scrolled across the entire site, and everyone in the novel’s fan group found out immediately.

[West Wind Tower: Holy fuck, Angry Brother is way too angry. Drops a Huang Jinmeng at the drop of a hat.]

[Sisi’s Fairy: Brother Fu, send me 50, I want to get some KFC.]

[Small Bedplank: 666666, the damn author must be trembling in their boots right now!]

[Meng Sanwan: Let me do the math... one Alliance Leader per Chapter means he owes 100 Chapters now.]

[Willows Dark, Flowers Bright: Faced with the damn author’s taunt, our bro struck back hard online to show him who’s boss!]

[Lu Shijiu: You’re screwed, author. I bet if you can’t deliver the Chapters, he really will send a lawyer after you, hahaha.]

Xu Yun glanced at the fan group, smiled, and @mentioned the author again.

[Angry Brother: @Hua Zhu, so how’s that for deep pockets?]

[Hua Zhu: ...]

[Hua Zhu: Daddy, I was wrong.]

In a residential complex in Xu Yun’s hometown,

A pretty woman with large, black-framed glasses and bangs covering her eyes lay on her stomach on her bed, staring at the donation amount on her tablet. Her head was spinning.

”One hundred thousand!”

’I actually ran into a real-life whale.’

’Hey!’

’I was just joking! You actually did it!’

A few seconds later, she started rolling around on her bed in excitement.

Then she accidentally rolled right off the bed.

THUMP!

”Ouch!”

The woman rubbed her backside and groaned as she climbed up from the floor, tears welling in her eyes from the pain.

But even as tears streamed down her face, she looked at her author dashboard and laughed with delight.

Her guileless, clumsy demeanor was rather cute.

Her name was Chen Xin, twenty-three years old. Online, she posed as a male author who wrote harem novels, but in reality, she was a pretty homebody.

After graduating with a degree in Chinese literature, she struggled to find a suitable job due to her social anxiety. So, she began trying her hand at writing male-protagonist novels from home.

Although she didn’t have much natural talent and wasn’t a big earner—just a minor, struggling author—by following market trends, she could still make five to six thousand yuan a month from her writing.

In a small county town, this income was more than enough to live on.

In her three years of writing, this was the first time a true whale had ever donated to her.

The most expensive donation she’d ever received before this was just 100 yuan.

Once the excitement faded, Chen Xin went back to her bed, her expression turning glum.

One hundred Chapters?

’Who the hell can write that many!’

She only had ten Chapters in her stockpile.

’If I don’t post the bonus Chapters, Angry Brother wouldn’t actually send a lawyer after me, would he?’

Chen Xin pouted and ran a hand through her messy long hair.

After a moment’s hesitation, she nervously opened Xu Yun’s QQ profile and sent him a friend request, hoping to talk things over.

’There was no way she could come up with 100 bonus Chapters.’

But after waiting for a long while, she got no response.

’Forget it. I’ll just post what I have. The important thing is to show a good attitude.’

Chen Xin sighed, opened her author dashboard, and posted her entire stockpile of Chapters.

Once that was done, she prepared to go out for a meal.

Just as she opened her door, she ran into the woman from across the hall, who was also opening her door.

She called out politely, ”Hello, Aunt Zhang.”

”Hello, dear.”

Zhang Sujuan saw her and asked with a smile, ”Going out to eat again?”

”Yeah.”

”Eating out all the time isn’t good for you.”

Zhang Sujuan said, ”I’m home alone, too. Why don’t you come eat at my place? You can keep me company.”

”That’s all right, Auntie. I’ll just go eat out by myself.” After speaking, Chen Xin shyly tried to dart off downstairs.

But the enthusiastic Zhang Sujuan grabbed her arm and started pulling her into the apartment. ”Silly child, what’s there to be shy about? Come on in.”

Chen Xin: ”...”

’What’s it like having a super-enthusiastic neighbor living across the hall?’

’Not only does she drag me over to her place for dinner, but she also always finds a roundabout way to talk about her son.’

’I have a feeling she’s trying to set me up with him.’

’But I don’t want to date anyone right now!’

...

Back at the office, after sending the donation, Xu Yun closed the app to take a phone call.

It was a call from the law firm. They said all the materials were ready, and they were preparing to formally file the lawsuit.

Barring any surprises, they should be able to win the case and get his money back.

Xu Yun asked, ”Will I need to appear in court?”

”Usually not.”

Lawyer Luo chuckled. ”You can give us power of attorney to handle everything as your representative.”

”Great, I’ll leave it in your hands then.”

Xu Yun then asked, ”One more thing. What if we win and she still refuses to pay, or she doesn’t have the money?”

”Don’t worry. We’ll help you file for a court enforcement order.”

Lawyer Luo answered, ”At that point, any assets in her name will be auctioned off to repay the debt you’re owed.”

”Okay, I understand.”

Xu Yun was very satisfied with their efficiency.

He couldn’t help but smile at the thought of the look on Huang Mengyao’s face when she received the court summons in a few days.

’That bitch needs to be taught a harsh lesson.’

’Did she really think my money was that easy to take?’

That afternoon, while Xu Yun was writing a proposal, he suddenly got a call from his mom, Zhang Suyun.

Xu Yun smiled. ”Mom, what made you decide to call?”

”I’m just calling to see how you’re doing.”

His mother chuckled over the phone. ”I’m not bothering you at work, am I?”

”No, not at all.”

Xu Yun asked, ”So, what did you want to talk about? Go ahead.”

”Oh, it’s nothing major.”

His mother laughed. ”It’s just that your Aunt Zhang, Aunt Wang, and Aunt Li all thought the clothes you bought me were really nice and a good price. I was hoping you could help me buy a few more.”

Xu Yun knew what his mom was up to. ”Mom, I can buy the clothes for you, no matter how many. But you can’t sell them to other people. You have to wear them yourself.”

”Huh?” his mother replied.

Xu Yun patiently explained, ”Mom, you’re all neighbors. If you sell them for too much, it’ll be awkward if they find out later, and you could offend someone. If you sell them for too little, you’ll be taking a loss. Don’t you think?”

”I guess that’s true...”

Hearing this, his mother realized her son was right. ’How did I not think of that?’ she wondered.

She agreed, ”Okay, Mom gets it.”

”Alright then. I’ll go buy them for you after work and have them shipped home.”

It was a good opportunity to stop by the store and check on Ning Qian, too.

After all, last night was her first time.
