Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Night Rain Moistens Silently, Reddening the Cherries, Greening the Plantains

He’d thought registering the car would be simple, but the wait was excruciating.

It took forever for his turn to finally come.

Just as he was about to select a license plate number, the saleswoman approached Xu Yun privately.

She whispered, ”Mr. Xu, would you like a vanity plate? I know someone here. If you’re willing to spend a little extra, we can make it happen.”

”What kind of premium numbers do you have?” Xu Yun asked.

The saleswoman took out a slip of paper and handed it to Xu Yun. ”The currently available numbers are all on here. A sequential number is 150,000, and one with three repeating digits is 100,000. Which kind are you interested in?”

The reason she was so enthusiastic was that she would get a 10,000 yuan commission if the deal went through.

If Xu Yun was going to buy one, he naturally wanted the best.

So he asked, ”Do you have any with five repeating digits?”

”Uh, no.”

Xu Yun was a little disappointed to hear that.

He unfolded the paper, glanced at the license plate numbers, and pointed to one. ”I’ll take this one, Jiang A·98765.”

”Okay, I’ll go sort it out.”

The saleswoman took Xu Yun’s card and went inside.

A moment later, Xu Yun heard the system’s notification.

[A fine car deserves a fine plate. The Host has acted according to the principle of Do as You Please by purchasing a desired license plate number. Reward: 300,000 in cash!]

A short while later, the saleswoman came out with the completed vehicle registration.

She smiled. ”All done. You’re good to go. Once the license plate is made, it’ll be mailed directly to our dealership. I’ll let you know when to come get it installed, Mr. Xu.”

”Okay.”

Xu Yun said, ”Thanks for your hard work today. I sent you a thousand yuan on WeChat. Consider it my treat for coffee.”

”Oh, I couldn’t accept that. It’s my job, after all.”

The saleswoman smiled. ”Actually, after finishing up with you, I’m done for the day. I don’t have to go back to the dealership.

If you really want to thank me, how about you buy me a few drinks later?”

The implication was obvious.

”I have plans tonight, so I can’t.”

Xu Yun got into his car. ”I won’t give you a ride back, miss. See you.”

”...”

The saleswoman watched Xu Yun, who had used her and tossed her aside, feeling utterly frustrated.

’I was so forward, and he still wasn’t interested? Do men who aren’t lecherous actually exist?!’

’Oh well. At least I still made my 10,000 yuan commission. The extra effort wasn’t a total waste.’

She glanced at the WeChat transfer on her phone. She had verbally refused it, but the moment her honey trap failed, she had accepted the money without hesitation.

Then, she sent a voice message to another client.

”Hey, Brother Wang, it’s me. Are you still interested in that car you were looking at? I happen to be free right now. I could come over and we could... get to know each other a little better.”

...

Although Xu Yun had money and a newfound sense of security now, at his core, he was still an ordinary guy—a very, very ordinary guy.

’His current way of thinking and acting is still based on a commoner’s mentality. He hasn’t yet developed the awareness or perspective of a truly wealthy person.’

So, after getting his new car, all he wanted to do was show it off, cruising aimlessly through the streets and alleys of Jiangcheng in his new sports coupe.

He wanted to experience what it was like to be stared at for driving a luxury car, to see those looks of envy, jealousy, and resentment.

After all, he used to be one of the people staring with envy.

Before he knew it, the sky gradually darkened.

The streetlights flickered on.

Xu Yun also received a message from Ning Qian.

He opened the location she sent, started the navigation, and leisurely drove over, parking in the lot below a hotpot restaurant.

Just as he got out of the car, he heard someone call his name.

”Xu Yun?”

Xu Yun turned his head and saw Jiang Peiyao not far away. It looked like she had just parked her car as well.

Jiang Peiyao walked over, smiling. ”What a coincidence. Are you here for hotpot too?”

”Yeah,” Xu Yun replied.

Jiang Peiyao invited, ”Want to join us?”

”No, thanks. I’m meeting a friend too. I’ll head on up.”

Xu Yun said his goodbye and headed upstairs to the hotpot restaurant.

”Okay.”

Jiang Peiyao watched Xu Yun walk away, then glanced back at the brand-new Porsche 911, still with its temporary plates, confirming her suspicions.

As soon as Xu Yun reached the entrance, he saw Ning Qian waiting for him.

She walked over quickly and said, ”You’re here.”

”Mhm.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Let’s go. Your friends must have been waiting for a while.”

”No, we just got here too.”

On the way, Ning Qian asked a little cautiously, ”We’re having hotpot. You don’t mind, do you?”

”Why would I?”

”Because you guys usually eat at high-end restaurants and hotels.”

”Not at all.”

Xu Yun replied, ”I quite like hotpot. It’s been a while, actually. I’ve been craving it.”

”That’s good.”

Ning Qian said happily, ”As long as you don’t mind that it’s cheap and the atmosphere isn’t great.”

Xu Yun followed Ning Qian to a private room. The setting was decent enough. Three or five of her colleagues were already seated, all of them women.

Seats had been saved for him and Ning Qian.

When they saw Xu Yun, they all stood up instinctively, greeting him enthusiastically, ”Hello, Mr. Xu.”

”We’re all young here, no need to be so polite.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”And please don’t call me Mr. Xu. Just call me Xu Yun. Otherwise, it sounds too formal.”

”Okay.”

All in all, the meal was quite harmonious.

Xu Yun was surrounded by a group of beautiful women, all chattering away. Occasionally, a bolder colleague would make some light-hearted jokes about him and Ning Qian, making the atmosphere wonderfully ambiguous.

After dinner, everyone went down to the parking lot together.

Seeing Xu Yun’s Porsche 911, they were instantly envious of Ning Qian.

After everyone else had left, Ning Qian finally asked with a smile, ”This car, did you just get it today?”

”Yeah, this afternoon.”

Xu Yun asked, feigning ignorance, ”So, should I take you home now, or...”

”I don’t want to go home tonight, okay?” Ning Qian interrupted in a small voice from the passenger seat.

”Okay.”

Empowered by his professional driving skills, the engine ROARED, and a red phantom shot through the night, speeding toward his home.

Half an hour later, the car was parked in the residential complex’s garage.

The two of them went back to his apartment.

The moment they were through the door, Xu Yun turned, smiled, and swept her up into his arms. He carried her directly to the living room and laid her on the sofa...

In the world of adults, many things don’t need to be said out loud.

Xu Yun pressed down on Ning Qian.

Her body was like water being brought to a boil by fire, the surface simmering gently, letting off wisps of steam.

Xu Yun was no longer a novice.

’But Ning Qian’s reaction right now... it’s not the reaction of someone who’s done this before!’

He asked in surprise, ”Is this your first time?”

”Mhm.” Ning Qian nodded.

”I’ll try to be gentle with you.”

”Mhm.”

Ning Qian looked at the man before her, acknowledged him, and closed her eyes.

Outside, the night sky was dotted with stars; inside, the room was bathed in soft moonlight.

Suddenly, a light breeze drifted in, gently tapping against the small, still-closed window.

As the wind grew stronger and stronger, the crack in the window was slowly pushed open, until finally, the gate was thrown wide.

At that moment, the wind became a bit more violent.

The window seemed unable to bear it, swaying back and forth. It would occasionally let out a sound like a cry, as if it had been struck and hurt.

After a fierce gust of wind, a light rain finally began to fall from the sky. The area around the windowsill was instantly soaked, and raindrops trickled down the ledge...

The wild wind, mixed with the light rain, raged for more than half the night, seemingly tireless.
