Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: This Is What You Call Life

「In the store.」

In response to the sales associate’s question, Xu Yun replied unhurriedly, ”This is my first time in your store. I’m not too familiar with your clothing styles, so just pick out a casual-looking outfit for me.”

”Of course, sir. Do you have any particular price range in mind?”

”No, but I’d prefer something unique.”

”Understood, sir. Please have a seat, rest for a moment, and have some water. I’ll bring something over once I’ve picked it out.”

”Okay.”

「Ten minutes later.」

The sales associate, Ning Qian, returned with a complete outfit she had selected.

She bowed slightly and said, ”Sir, this is our latest limited-edition spring and summer collection. You won’t have to worry about bumping into someone with the same outfit. I think it will suit you very well. Would you like to try it on?”

”Alright.”

As Xu Yun entered the fitting room, for some reason, certain infamous Uniqlo videos popped into his head.

’If right now...’

’Fuck, what the hell am I thinking!’

Xu Yun silently cursed himself for being shameless, then quickly changed and walked out.

When Ning Qian saw him, her eyes lit up.

Xu Yun was already a handsome man, but his plain clothes had suppressed his masculine charm, preventing it from showing.

Now, dressed in clothes with a superior design and texture, his entire aura instantly improved several notches.

”Sir, I think this outfit perfectly matches your charisma.”

Xu Yun looked at himself in the mirror and was also very satisfied. ”It really is nice. I’ll take it. How much is it?”

”Sir, the total comes to 188,000 yuan. If you sign up for our store’s membership, it’ll be just 180,000 yuan after the discount.”

180,000?

Xu Yun’s eyelid twitched when he heard the price.

He had expected it to be a bit expensive, but not *this* expensive.

’No wonder they say people earning less than 50,000 a month don’t even dare to browse here. It makes sense.’

’I could tighten my belt and save up for three years, only to come here and blow it all on a single outfit.’

’Damn, the gap between the rich and poor is wider than the one between man and beast.’

Seeing Xu Yun fall silent, Ning Qian thought she might have picked something too expensive for him.

’He’s not going to back out, is he?’

’Does that mean my commission is about to fly away?’

She quickly explained, ”Sir, this outfit is our newest, limited-edition flagship collection for the spring and summer season, which is why the price is a bit higher.

”But it really does look great on you. Very charismatic.

”If you’re not satisfied, I can put together another outfit for you.”

”It’s fine. This one’s perfect. You have good taste.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Sign me up for a membership, then run my card.”

”Of course, of course! Please follow me this way, sir.” Ning Qian was ecstatic.

She thought she would have to spend a while persuading him, but he had bought it so readily, without a moment’s hesitation.

’Looks like I’ve found a potential VIP client.’

”Payment successful!”

With a BEEP from the machine, Xu Yun’s payment was complete.

At the same time, the System’s voice sounded again.

[Faced with clothes he liked, the Host chose to Do as You Please, acquiring his first luxury outfit without the slightest hesitation. Reward: 480,000 yuan in cash!]

Listening to the double notifications, Xu Yun felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction.

’I spent 180,000, but I got 300,000 back in profit!’

’Before long, I’ll be a millionaire.’

’This is the fucking life.’

After paying, Ning Qian asked, ”Sir, would you like to wear the outfit now, or should I bag it up for you after you change?”

”I’ll wear it.”

Xu Yun added, ”And please do me a favor and throw out my old outfit.”

’I won’t be able to wear those clothes anymore anyway. My circumstances won’t allow it.’

Just as he was about to leave, the sales associate, Ning Qian, suddenly hurried after him.

Xu Yun asked, ”Is there something else?”

”No.”

Ning Qian smiled and said, ”Sir, how about you add me on WeChat? If you have any issues with the clothes later on, you can contact me directly.

”Also, when the store gets new styles that would look good on you, I can be the first to let you know.

”If you see anything you like, you can contact me on WeChat anytime, and I can even come to your home to give you a detailed showing.”

Xu Yun understood the woman’s blatant implication perfectly.

’The service at these luxury stores really is on another level. They’ve got some moves!’

’To be honest, not just anyone can become a saleswoman at a luxury brand.’

’To be easy on the eyes and better serve the wealthy, their looks weren’t much different from Huang Mengyao’s.’

’In fact, their charisma might even be a cut above hers.’

’On a lonely night, ’communicating’ with someone like her wouldn’t be so bad, actually.’

’I’m single now, and a hot-blooded young man at that. I can’t be expected to spend every long night with just my hand for company, right?’

Somehow, he’d never had thoughts like these before.

They say money corrupts men.

He never understood or agreed with that saying before, but now he was starting to get it.

It’s not that men want to become bad; it’s that once they have money, the temptations around them multiply, and most people can’t resist.

”Alright, you can scan my code.”

Xu Yun took out his phone and said, ”My surname is Xu. Name’s Xu Yun.”

”Of course, Mr. Xu.”

...

「On the third floor of the mall,」 Huang Mengyao was also shopping by herself.

After breaking up with Xu Yun, she had walked away with over a hundred thousand yuan of his money and had also hooked up with Zhang Wentao. She felt she no longer needed to live such a constrained life.

’A life of happiness was about to begin.’

So today, she had eagerly come alone to a place she never dared to visit before to buy a handbag.

Huang Mengyao cautiously looked around the store.

She found that the most expensive bag was over 50,000 yuan, while the cheapest was still more than 8,000.

With an enthusiastic sales associate at her side, she picked and chose. Not wanting to be looked down on and to satisfy her own vanity, she finally bit the bullet and bought a bag that cost around 10,000 yuan.

After she paid and held the new bag in her hand, Huang Mengyao felt an exceptional sense of satisfaction, as if her entire being had become more confident.

She was no longer the woman who could only carry bags worth a few hundred or a few thousand yuan all year round.

”Take care, madam. We hope to see you again!”

After buying the bag, Huang Mengyao left, satisfied, amidst the sales associate’s compliments.

When she reached the first floor and was about to leave, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure walking toward her out of the corner of her eye.

At first, she thought she was mistaken.

But as the person drew closer, she realized she hadn’t been wrong—it was Xu Yun.

Huang Mengyao never in a million years expected to see Xu Yun here.

Feeling a pang of guilt, she instinctively hid behind a pillar and watched him leave the mall before she suddenly came to her senses.

’Why am I hiding? We’ve already broken up!’

’But what’s the deal with him suddenly wearing designer clothes?’

’And that Gucci outfit... it didn’t look cheap.’

The good mood she’d been in from buying the bag instantly soured.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

Compared to the clothes on Xu Yun, her new bag suddenly seemed pathetically shabby.

’Wait, on what grounds does he get to buy and wear such nice clothes?!’

’I have all his money! Where did he get the money to buy that?!’

Huang Mengyao couldn’t figure it out for the life of her.

...
