Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: I Have Two Girlfriends, I Can’t Play Favorites

Xu Yun followed the male clerk to another counter.

There, he saw the ”Extraordinary Master” the clerk had mentioned.

The design and feel were indeed quite refined and gave off a high-end vibe.

”Sir, this phone’s top configuration is 16G+1TB. The original price is 12,999 yuan, and there’s no markup.”

The male clerk continued his pitch, ”You can also get a two-year screen warranty. If it breaks, you get a free replacement. It was originally 1,399 yuan, but with the current promotion, you get 100 yuan off, so it’s only 1,299. If you also add the 1,088 yuan wireless Bluetooth earbuds, you can get another discount. The grand total for everything would be just 15,000 yuan.”

”Alright, I’ll take it.”

Xu Yun didn’t hesitate. ’If I like it, I buy it.’ He said, ”Give me the setup you just described. I’ll pay by card.”

”Right away, sir.”

When the male clerk had started his pitch, he was just going through the motions out of professional habit.

He had hoped Xu Yun would buy it, but he hadn’t gotten his hopes up.

After all, jumping from the MT60 Pro to the Extraordinary Master was a huge leap, far exceeding the customer’s apparent budget—he could have bought two Yaoyao phones for that price.

But the customer had bought it after just a single glance.

’I guess it’s my lucky day to make some money.’

As Xu Yun finished swiping his card at the cashier, the system’s reward came through.

[With an Extraordinary Master comes an extraordinary life. The host has indulged his whim and bought the phone he wanted. Reward: 50,000 in cash!]

Bank Account Balance: 4,750,000 yuan.

The male clerk brought a new, sealed phone to the counter and asked, ”Sir, would you like me to unbox it and check it for you now?”

”Yeah, go ahead and open it for me.”

Xu Yun pulled his Xiaomi phone from his pocket and said, ”While you’re at it, can you help me transfer the data from this phone over? It’s dead, though, so you’ll need to charge it first.”

”Sure, no problem.”

The male clerk took Xu Yun’s Xiaomi phone, a little surprised.

’Jeez, from a two or three thousand yuan phone straight to fifteen thousand!’

’That’s a massive upgrade.’

’Looks like he made some good money this year.’

Another man nearby, who was also shopping for a phone, thought Xu Yun’s new device looked great and curiously asked his own salesperson.

”That phone he’s getting is really nice. How much is it?”

The salesperson glanced over, a little envious of their colleague’s good fortune, and said with a smile, ”That’s our top-spec MT60 Extraordinary Master. The base phone is listed on the official website for 12,999 yuan.”

”...” The man fell silent instantly.

’Man, it must be nice to be single, with no financial pressure.’

He’d overheard him earlier. The guy had come in to buy a Yaoyao phone, just like he had.

But just because they were out of black, he’d turned around and bought the more expensive Extraordinary Master instead.

’So envious, jealous, and full of hate.’

He also wanted black, but since they were out, he had to reluctantly consider other colors.

After all, for the Yaoyao phone, he could probably sweet-talk his wife and bite the bullet to buy one.

’But an Extraordinary Master for over ten thousand yuan?’

’He couldn’t even dream of it. Not only would his wife never agree, but he himself couldn’t bear to spend that much money.’

The car and mortgage payments were already a heavy burden; there was absolutely no spare cash for such an expensive phone.

Poverty is the heaviest stone, crushing a man’s desires.

While the clerk was setting up his phone, Xu Yun noticed a group of women nearby also admiring the Yaoyao phone. A sudden thought occurred to him...

’Why don’t I buy two and give them to Ning Qian and Li Jinshu?’

’After all, they’re both my confidantes now.’

’I can give the phones to them the next time we meet. It’ll be a nice little surprise.’

’Women might love money, but what woman could refuse a man who’s both rich and romantic?’

So, once his new phone was all set up, Xu Yun asked the clerk to get him two more MT60 Pros, both top-spec.

The male clerk was overjoyed.

’I’ve really hit the jackpot with a big spender today!’

One in Yachuan Qing for Li Jinshu.

And one in Baisha Silver for Ning Qian.

Each phone had an original price of 7,999 yuan, plus a 300 yuan markup, plus earbuds, insurance, and so on. The two phones cost a total of 17,000 yuan.

[The host has done as he pleased, purchasing Yaoyao phones to give his confidantes a small surprise. This thoughtful gesture is rewarded with 50,000 in cash.]

Bank Account Balance: 4,795,000 yuan.

Seeing this, the man nearby couldn’t contain his curiosity any longer and asked, ”Hey buddy, didn’t you just buy the Extraordinary Master? Why are you buying two more?”

”They’re for my girlfriend.”

”Two phones for one girlfriend?”

”Nope.”

Xu Yun replied with a smile, ”I have two girlfriends. Can’t play favorites.”

”...”

Hearing this, the man’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch.

’Aren’t we all living in the same world?!’

’I really should’ve kept my mouth shut. Why did I have to ask?’

The male clerk was also completely dumbfounded, looking at Xu Yun with a hint of envy.

He asked curiously, ”Sir, how do you pull that off? Can you teach me?”

”There’s no special trick to it.”

Xu Yun pulled out his Porsche key. ”This is all you need.”

”...” The clerk was speechless.

His previously happy mood soured a bit.

’It’s hard enough for me to find one girlfriend, and this guy has two.’

’It must be nice to be rich.’

The women nearby were clearly impressed by the sight of the car key, but as soon as Xu Yun had left, they muttered under their breath, ”Hmph, what a player!”

Back in his car, Xu Yun turned on his new phone, logged into WeChat, and saw a message Su Mu had sent him half an hour ago.

It was the intern’s phone number and address.

It seemed to be somewhere near the university town.

Xu Yun glanced at it, very pleased. This saved him the trouble of having to call back and ask.

’An excellent administrative manager should have this level of professional foresight.’

’Always thinking ahead and covering every detail for you.’

He smiled and typed a reply.

Xu Yun: Your lipstick tasted off today. Don’t use it next time.

In her office, Su Mu heard her phone go DING.

She picked it up, took a look, and chuckled.

Su Mu: I let you kiss me, and this is what I get? Next time I’ll wear arsenic. It’d be for the best if I just poisoned you. (laughing.jpg)

After replying, she put down her phone, stood up, and took the lipstick out of her bag to examine it.

She had just bought this brand; today was the first time she’d used it.

’I can’t believe he complained about it.’

Just as Su Mu was about to toss it into the nearby trash can, the receptionist walked in with a cup of coffee. ”Manager Su, this coffee is from Xu Yun.”

”Is he treating the whole company again?”

”Yep.”

The receptionist chuckled. ”I don’t know how he came into so much money lately, but he’s always treating everyone to coffee. At this rate, we’re all going to get sick of Starbucks.”

”Alright, I see.”

Su Mu looked at the lipstick in her hand. ’Rather than throw it out, I might as well give it away.’

She asked the receptionist, ”Oh, by the way, I have a lipstick here that I just bought. I’m not a big fan of the color, and I’ve only used it once today. Do you want it? It’s yours if you do. I think the color would really suit you.”

”Oh, really?”

The receptionist accepted the Dior lipstick with both hands, saying happily, ”Thank you, Manager Su!”

”You’re welcome.”

After the receptionist left, Su Mu sipped the coffee from Xu Yun and began casually browsing other brands of lipstick online.

She didn’t like to buy things online, but she could at least do some research to see which ones had a better ”taste.”
