This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Was Gu Qinghong’s way of speaking pretentious? Not really. Did she speak with a forced, cutesy tone? Not that either. But it was just the way she spoke, combined with her little gestures, that suddenly gave people a sense of—greasiness.

Yes, Du Heng suddenly felt the word he’d found was very accurate.

Gu Qinghong’s current demeanor reminded him of those men in their thirties or forties who try to pull off a ’charming smirk’ with a tilted head and crooked smile, or who flirtatiously flick their bangs—oily, completely oily, disgustingly slick.

”So, it’s settled. I’ll have Dr. Cao handle your discharge procedures this afternoon,” Du Heng said, looking at Gu Qinghong. He felt extremely uncomfortable and turned to leave as soon as he finished speaking.

But Gu Qinghong still wouldn’t agree. She leaped off the hospital bed with a SWISH. ”Oh, Du, I’m serious! It won’t work! What you said is indeed right, but I don’t trust those people. How would they know what your requirements are? Besides, they definitely aren’t as professional as you all. I’ve checked, you know. Those people are healthcare practitioners, while you are medical professionals. It’s different.”

Du Heng felt a bit helpless. ”It’s just a difference in terminology; the core principles are the same. They might not fully understand your condition, and even if you explained, they wouldn’t know how to treat it. But they don’t need to know how to treat it. They just need to be told the massage methods and steps. Their techniques are actually better than those of the doctors and nurses here at our hospital. Listen, you’re basically fine now. You’ve entered a slow recovery period. Having a professional masseur provide you with timely massage services every day is the best choice. Moreover, this is a hospital. Every hospital room, every hospital bed, is reserved for patients and serves a critical purpose. You’re treating this place like a hotel, and that’s not good for your image. Also, please, have some consideration for Dr. Cao and me.”

Gu Qinghong pouted, saying reluctantly, ”It’s not like I haven’t paid. Why can’t I stay?”

Hearing Gu Qinghong’s shameless words, Du Heng was so angry his teeth itched. ”Gu, please understand one thing clearly: this is a hospital, not a hotel. Its purpose is to treat illnesses, not for you to do your rehabilitation here. Even if you don’t consider Dr. Cao and me, think about the seriously ill patients who need to be hospitalized.”

Du Heng was determined to get Gu Qinghong out today. ”And another thing, you’re occupying a hospital room and a hospital bed, so it’s right that you pay. But our primary purpose isn’t to make money. Our first rule is to treat patients.”

After speaking, Du Heng waved his hand dismissively. ”Alright, that’s enough. I’ll have Dr. Cao handle your discharge procedures this afternoon. I’ll also speak to your father. So, don’t have your father contact our Dean. It really won’t work this time.”

Du Heng finished speaking and walked straight out the door, giving Gu Qinghong no more opportunity to pester him.

Just as he reached the door, he heard Gu Qinghong call out from behind him, sounding quite aggrieved, ”Alright, alright! I’ll have someone come help me with my things this afternoon.”

”Then thank you for that.” Du Heng breathed a sigh of relief when he heard Gu Qinghong say this.

”Then don’t be angry with me.”

”What reason would I have to be angry?” Du Heng replied, rather helplessly. ”Alright, you should hurry and pack your things. I’m going to find Dr. Cao.”

To be on the safe side, Du Heng left the hospital room and went straight to Cao Binghe’s office.

At this moment, Cao Binghe was already preparing to go to the canteen with his colleagues.

Seeing this, Du Heng quickly pulled him back. ”Quick, process the discharge for Bed B41.”

”Bed B41?” Cao Binghe was stunned for a moment, then his expression immediately turned to pleasant surprise. ”You mean that woman with facial paralysis is finally being discharged?”

Du Heng shot Cao Binghe an annoyed look. ”Watch what you say. If she heard you, you could lose your job. You’re not unaware of why she got sick, are you? And her family’s situation, have you forgotten that too?”

Cao Binghe hurriedly made a show of lightly slapping his own face. ”I was too happy, got muddled. My mistake.”

”Just get the procedures done quickly.”

”She really agreed?”

”Obviously.”

After giving his instructions, Du Heng walked out of the department feeling a great sense of relief, heading straight for the hospital canteen.

The bowl of instant noodles he’d had that morning simply wasn’t filling enough.

As he passed by the central flowerbed, Du Heng suddenly paused. He tilted his head and looked towards a stone bench among the greenery, because he thought he’d glimpsed a familiar figure from the corner of his eye. As his gaze shifted, he saw a man wearing a yellow safety helmet and a red striped safety suit sitting on the stone bench. The man was eating a large piece of bread, along with pickles from a glass jar beside him.

The man was none other than the young fellow who had been cleaning the windows that morning.

He’s from Lin County, but what was his name again?

Du Heng scratched his head. Suddenly, he couldn’t recall the young fellow’s name.

Huang Youcai?

Huang Youfu?

Huang Jubao?

Huang... something? His surname was definitely Huang, that much was certain, but for the life of him, he couldn’t recall the given name.

Maybe I should...

Du Heng turned and walked directly toward the young fellow. ”Master Huang, finished with your work?”

The young fellow eating bread looked up in surprise when he heard someone speaking to him. But truth be told, he didn’t recognize Du Heng at first glance and looked utterly bewildered.

”Master Huang, it’s me! Your fellow townsman! This morning, when you were cleaning the windows, I was inside eating instant noodles,” Du Heng introduced himself with a cheerful smile.
