This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng’s sudden greeting didn’t seem to particularly catch the old man’s attention. He seemed accustomed to such abrupt greetings. He casually turned his head, glanced at Du Heng, then nodded lightly and was about to leave.

Academician Sun Jiaxiang, it appeared, didn’t recognize Du Heng.

Ordinarily, given Du Heng’s somewhat reserved nature, he certainly wouldn’t have initiated further conversation. But today, his main goal was to visit Director Su Nan. Since Academician Sun Jiaxiang had just emerged from inside, and Su Yuan had proactively questioned Director Xue, it was clear that Academician Sun had likely been invited for a consultation.

Well... a little audacity might just get me what I want.

Du Heng immediately spoke up again, ”Hello, Academician Sun. I’m Du Heng from the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I didn’t expect to run into you here, sir.”

”Oh, hello,” Academician Sun replied coolly, not considering Du Heng to be anyone of particular importance.

However, just as he finished his ”oh” and was about to turn away, he suddenly spun back around, looking at Du Heng with a hint of surprise. ”Du Heng? Are you... that Mr. Du?”

That... which one?

It was an odd way to put it, but Du Heng, opposite him, didn’t seem surprised. He just smiled faintly and replied, ”Yes, that’s me.”

After Du Heng’s reconfirmation, a smile finally touched Academician Sun Jiaxiang’s face, and his demeanor warmed slightly. He proactively extended his hand to shake Du Heng’s. ”I never expected, truly never expected, to meet Mr. Du in such circumstances.”

Du Heng, also somewhat moved, said, ”I also didn’t expect to see Sir Sun here.”

Sun Jiaxiang then glanced curiously at Du Heng, then at the others nearby, and asked doubtfully, ”Mr. Du, are you here for something? If there’s anything I can help with, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

The sudden conversation between Sun Jiaxiang and Du Heng surprised the few people present. They hadn’t anticipated that Academician Sun, already in his nineties, could chat so amiably with a young man; that alone was quite surprising. Now, hearing Sun Jiaxiang so generously offer his help, the onlookers regarded Du Heng with even greater interest.

A teacher? What kind of teacher could an academician be so courteous to?

Du Heng, however, didn’t notice the others’ gazes. He just sighed softly and said, ”I’m here to visit Professor Su Nan; he’s an elder I respect.”

Sun Jiaxiang, sharp and experienced with age, understood Du Heng’s situation the moment he finished speaking. He immediately turned to Director Xue, who was behind him, and said, ”Director Xue, let me make an introduction.”

Director Xue immediately looked at Du Heng with curiosity.

”This is Mr. Du Heng, a teacher at the Capital College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and also the Deputy Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department at Good Friend Hospital.”

Listening to Sun Jiaxiang’s introduction, Director Xue’s expression remained unchanged, but inwardly he was somewhat unimpressed. Such an introduction, aside from mentioning a well-known workplace, doesn’t seem particularly outstanding.

However, after a slight pause, Sun Jiaxiang continued, ”Furthermore, this Mr. Du is also the head of the national-level ’Stroke Team’ project and a top expert in the country for treating post-stroke sequelae. Oh, and he’s currently a leading figure in national traditional Chinese medicine anti-cancer treatment as well.”

A top expert? A leading figure?

If such terms came from someone else, I might just consider them boasts. But coming from Sun Jiaxiang, they carry a completely different weight.

Inevitably, the way Director Xue looked at Du Heng brightened.

Just then, the middle-aged man who had been standing silently nearby suddenly spoke up, ”Du Heng, from Jinzhou, a doctoral candidate, currently a teacher at the Capital College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Deputy Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department at Good Friend Hospital. He excels in treating complex and difficult cases in internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, and other areas. He’s a major internet influencer with tens of millions of online fans. In the Capital’s traditional Chinese medicine student circles, he’s known by the moniker ’Du Demigod’.”

This introduction was quite detailed, causing everyone present to fix their gaze, momentarily stunned.

Even Sir Wu Zhong, as Du Heng’s grandfather-in-law, couldn’t help but take another look at his grandson-in-law. I hadn’t really noticed before. I knew the lad was skilled, but I never deliberately tried to catalog or summarize his achievements. Hearing him described by someone else, I realize this grandson-in-law of mine already seems to be quite an extraordinary figure.

The middle-aged man who had spoken smiled faintly, stepped forward, and proactively shook Du Heng’s hand. ”Han Zhenghe, Director of the Nephrology Department at the First Medical Center. Director Niu from your hospital and I are classmates. I’ve heard a great deal about your accomplishments, Director Du, from him.”

”A pleasure to meet you, Director Han.” Du Heng quickly extended his hand as well.

A classmate of Director Niu’s. No wonder he knows so much detail.

Then, Director Han Zhenghe turned to Director Xue and Su Yuan and said, ”You might not know this, but Director Du not only holds the titles I mentioned; back when he was in Jinzhou, he was also a foremost expert in treating critically ill patients. As far as I know, to this day, Director Du’s success rate in treating such critical cases is one hundred percent.”

Saying this, he shifted his gaze to Su Yuan. ”Doctor Su, you also worked in Jinzhou. You must be aware of this, right?”

At this reminder, memories of Du Heng’s achievements in Jinzhou instantly flooded Su Yuan’s mind—stories her father had recounted to her repeatedly and tirelessly.
