This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”So you think it’s okay to hit people? If hitting people solves problems, then why do we need the Police and the law?” Du Heng stared back directly. ”If the Patient has a problem, you should actively find a way to treat her. Instead, you’re assaulting our Doctor and preventing him from treating your Wife. What are you trying to do? If something happens to your Wife, you’ll be a murderer, a killer, and you’ll face Execution by shooting, understand?”

Du Heng’s rapid-fire words sent the man stumbling backward. Hearing words like murderer, killer, and Execution by shooting made his legs wobble in fear. These villagers might be aggressive, but their Gallbladders were also genuinely small. ”Just for these injuries you’ve inflicted on our Doctor, the Police could arrest you and make you pay compensation, believe it or not?”

”I...I...”

”What ’I’? Go inside and see what’s wrong with your Wife!”

The man was stubborn. He could be intimidated by Du Heng enough not to retaliate, but an apology was impossible. He just turned and huffily walked back to the Hospital room.

Du Heng looked around again at the people who had not yet left. ”Everyone, get back to your own business, and remember to place the Check-up on my desk this afternoon.”

After speaking, he paid them no more attention and turned to walk towards the Hospital room.

Among these people, a very few of them needed to be dealt with. With just this small number of people, their thoughts were not unified. Even when the hospital leader was beaten, they dared to employ petty Minds. What would happen if there were more people in the future? Conflicts and contradictions are normal, but failing to quickly handle and suppress them, and instead widening the influence noodles, is very abnormal.

Entering the Hospital room, the woman On the bed constantly tossed and turned, looking very uncomfortable and drowsy. Moreover, when the woman turned over, her palm was always on her chest, tightly clutching it.

Yu Haiting felt extremely upset. Yesterday, he had spent a long time on the Mountain treating this woman who had fainted due to hypertension. He had not expected that he would be struck twice This morning without any time to react. But as things stood, he couldn’t just go up and strike the man back, could he?

With a bitter expression, Yu Haiting introduced the Patient’s condition to Du Heng, ”The Patient is 45 years old, experiencing frequent palpitations, and is in the third stage of hypertension. When measured yesterday, her diastolic pressure was constantly between 110 and 120.”

Du Heng frowned. With these readings, it was normal for the woman to faint.

”The Patient used to take antihypertensive drugs, but the effect was not obvious. She later transferred to the Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for Treatment, first taking the Liver-Settling Wind-Extinguishing Decoction and then the Antelope Gouteng Decoction. In the two years, she has taken almost a hundred doses, but the effect was not very good. Also, during this period of medication, the Patient’s appetite began to decrease, and her stools became loose and shapeless.”

As Yu Haiting spoke, Du Heng’s eyes flickered, for he saw that the woman on the Sick bed was very fat, as round as a ball. This was not an exaggeration; it was just stating the facts. Decreased appetite, yet so obese—was the medication not targeting the right symptoms? Antelope Gouteng Decoction, for liver-calming and wind-extinguishing, as well as heat-clearing and spasm-stopping, is considered a suitable Treatment for palpitations. Liver-Settling Wind-Extinguishing Decoction, also used for liver-calming and wind-extinguishing, can be used for nourishing yin and subduing Yang, and can be used for hypertension and similar diseases. But it also depends on the situation. Not all hypertension cases can use this house because in traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis, hypertension is divided into yin deficiency and yang deficiency, with different causes and different medication. And the Liver-Settling Wind-Extinguishing Decoction primarily treats liver and kidney yin deficiency.

Du Heng did not interrupt Yu Haiting, letting him continue, while he walked to the woman’s side and began her Check-up.

”Yesterday, the Patient’s condition worsened. She described feeling dizzy as if floating on clouds, and her feet were weak and could not support her. Because she was too fat, her family members could not carry her to the Hospital, so they called for an emergency rescue. Upon being admitted to the Hospital for Treatment at noon, her blood pressure had stabilized by the time we left work Last night, and she had become more coherent; there was no obstacle in our communication.”

Saying this, Yu Haiting looked resentfully at the man beside the Sick bed. ”This morning, I just brought someone in for a ward round, and this family member started getting physical without saying anything.”

Yu Haiting felt incredibly wronged. He treated Patients and saved lives, but instead of receiving gratitude, he was beaten up. It was just unbelievable.

The man didn’t see it that way, directly confronting Yu Haiting, ”You’re a liar! I don’t know how you fooled us yesterday, but after you left work, my Wife turned back into this state. She even said her back suddenly became very tired and she wanted to sleep. She couldn’t lie down because her back was too tired, and she couldn’t sit up because of dizziness.”

As he spoke, the man became more agitated, his voice rising. Du Heng looked coldly at him. ”If you want to talk, talk properly. If you can’t talk properly, shut up and get out.” After saying that, he lowered his head and continued his Check-up.

As for whether the man would go berserk again and attack Yu Haiting, Du Heng wasn’t worried at all. He knew the temperaments of the surrounding villagers very well: as long as you were more aggressive, they would fear you. But if you dared to soften, they would definitely push their luck. The idea of ’take a step back and enjoy the vast sky’ and ’live and let live’ was bullshit.

The man, choked by Du Heng’s glare, had no choice but to lower his voice. ”By the second half of the night, she couldn’t even hold her urine. As soon as she turned over or coughed, urine would leak out. And now, look at her—her face is hot and flushed, and she even has mouth ulcers! These things never happened before your Treatment! They only appeared after your Treatment yesterday! If it’s not your fault, whose is it? Tell me, shouldn’t I have beaten you?”

Yu Haiting was stunned. How had the Patient ended up like this in just one night? Moreover, if the Patient had become this serious, why hadn’t anyone called him Last night, or even This morning?

He paused for a moment, then quickly asked, ”I wasn’t on duty Last night. You could have found the other on-duty doctors. They would have handled it or notified me.”

But the man ignored Yu Haiting. ”You are my Wife’s attending doctor. Of course, I’ll find you if she’s having problems. Why would I look for other doctors? My Wife is not their Patient—can they even care for her? I think you’re just trying to shirk responsibility. Let me tell you, no way! Don’t think that because I’m a farmer, I don’t know anything. If something happens to my Wife, I’ll definitely beat you up, even if I get arrested! You’ll have to answer for my Wife’s life!”

At this point, Du Heng was performing pulse diagnosis on the Patient, but this Pulse seemed quite strange. When he first placed his fingers, the Pulse was strong, but when he pressed down a little harder for a longer time, it became as thin as a thread, unable to withstand pressure. Looking at her tongue, it was pale, puffy, and coated with a white, greasy fur.

Upon hearing the man threaten Yu Haiting once again, Du Heng gave Yu Haiting a look and then said to the man, ”Stop arguing. Are we treating your Wife, or are we here to watch you act tough?”

The man fell silent but still looked indignant.

Du Heng asked, ”Has your Wife ever complained about coldness in her lower limbs?”

”Yes, she often complains about her legs being cold,” the man quickly added. ”And since she started taking that Antelope Gouteng Decoction, she always feels a cold sensation coming from her navel, then rushing to her throat, and finally to the back of her head. Each time it makes her feel dizzy.”

Du Heng stepped back slightly. ”I understand now. Your Wife’s problem is not serious, nor is it Dr. Yu’s Treatment that caused it. It’s because she was taking the wrong medicine before. Your Wife has yang deficiency, with flourishing Yin and ascendant floating Yang. You’ve been giving her medicine for yin deficiency, so naturally, she hasn’t improved, and her condition has even worsened.”

As he spoke, he had already walked to the foot of the bed. ”I’ll go write up the medical advice now and prescribe two sets of medicine for your Wife. By noon, your Wife’s dizziness and urinary incontinence should subside.”

Over the past One year, they, as fellow villagers, had heard Du Heng’s stories countless times. They held him in awe and also trusted him deeply.

Now, hearing Du Heng say this, the man quickly nodded. ”So, should we continue taking the medicine prescribed by this Doctor or not?”

”No need. I’ll have a nurse come and process a return for you later.”

Upon hearing that he could get a refund, the man breathed a sigh of relief; he was afraid of wasting money.
