This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

The entire morning was spent on Wu Shengnan’s treatment and nothing else.

Just as he was about to wash his hands, wipe the sweat from his brow, and rest for a moment, Du Heng rushed in.

”Teacher, have you finished the treatment?”

”I’ve finished. It really wore me out.”

At this moment, Du Heng’s mind was completely occupied with Wu Shengnan’s condition, so he entirely missed Li Jianwei’s attempt to gain sympathy. He asked directly, ”Teacher, is there any sign of improvement in Wu Shengnan’s foot?”

Li Jianwei glanced at Du Heng with a helpless expression. He hadn’t expected his student to be so unobservant. Hearing his teacher say he was tired, Du Heng didn’t even offer to give him a shoulder rub to help him relax.

However, he quite liked this unobservant student. As soon as Du Heng finished his question, Li Jianwei immediately replied, ”It’s the same as what we saw yesterday. And when I needled her toes, she still had no reaction.”

This was definitely not good news, but Du Heng’s eyebrows twitched upwards slightly. ”Teacher, you mean her foot hasn’t changed at all?”

”That’s right. It’s exactly as it was yesterday; even the color hasn’t changed,” Li Jianwei sighed. ”If no miracle occurs, Wu Shengnan’s toes definitely can’t be saved.”

A miracle? What is a miracle?

Du Heng didn’t know. Right now, he just wanted to use his own methods to help Wu Shengnan. After informing Li Jianwei, he changed into his work clothes, took the small pouch containing his guasha board and ointment from his Bag, and headed to Wu Shengnan’s hospital room.

Today, many people were around Wu Shengnan. Besides her mother and brother, a tall, striking woman was also standing next to her brother.

Du Heng guessed this woman must be Wu Shengnan’s sister-in-law. However, speaking as Wu Shengnan’s friend, he didn’t have a good impression of this sister-in-law. It had nothing to do with her looks or temperament. And Wu Shengnan? To this newcomer, Wu Shengnan was her husband’s younger sister. After such a terrible thing had happened, the sister-in-law had waited a full three days before appearing in Wu Shengnan’s hospital room. Was she too busy with work? Or was she just particularly conscientious about her job? Could her work truly not function without her?

Du Heng tried not to jump to conclusions, but he couldn’t help feeling that this woman either wasn’t all there or simply didn’t care much about Wu Shengnan, her husband’s sister. Her own family member was facing the risk of amputation, yet she was still engrossed in her work. Was her position really as crucial and irreplaceable as that of Wu Shengnan’s parents-in-law? Laughable!

Seeing Du Heng enter, Wu Shengnan’s mother managed a faint smile. ”Xiao Du, you’re here.”

Du Heng nodded in acknowledgment. ”Auntie, how is Shengnan’s condition?”

Wu Shengnan’s mother glanced at her daughter on the bed and then gently shook her head.

At this moment, Wu Shengnan, seemingly aware of the grim situation she faced, had completely enveloped herself in her blanket. Even when Du Heng came in, she didn’t pull it away from her face.

Du Heng said no more. He walked directly to the foot of Wu Shengnan’s sick bed, lifted the blanket covering her feet, and exposed her purple-black lower leg.

Just as the blanket was lifted, Wu Shengnan’s leg twitched slightly, as if trying to recoil.

Du Heng squatted down, meticulously observing Wu Shengnan’s foot.

At this moment, he might have appeared almost like a creep to an onlooker, examining it with intense focus. From time to time, he would lift her foot, scrutinizing it from top to bottom, left to right.

The situation was much as Li Jianwei had described: there really wasn’t much change in Wu Shengnan’s foot.

But this didn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t good news. No change meant Wu Shengnan’s foot hadn’t worsened. If it hadn’t worsened, that bought Du Heng a little time to experiment.

Although Du Heng’s current actions might seem a bit creepy, Wu Shengnan’s family said nothing, merely watching him intently, afraid to disturb him.

After a thorough examination, many thoughts began to form in Du Heng’s mind.

Wu Shengnan’s foot was indeed unsuitable for guasha. If excessive force were applied, the skin on her foot could be instantly torn and ripped. But now, neither Wu Shengnan nor Du Heng himself had any good options.

Having made his decision, Du Heng slowly rose, walked to the head of the sick bed, and gently pulled the blanket down from Wu Shengnan’s head.

”I have a few things I want to discuss with you regarding your toes.”

With the blanket pulled away, Wu Shengnan kept her eyes tightly closed, her head turned to one side.

Hearing Du Heng speak, she said listlessly, ”It’s already like this. What’s there to discuss?”

Du Heng could understand Wu Shengnan’s feelings, so he could accept her despondent attitude.

He took a gentle breath and then said, ”I have a method that might help your toes recover.”

Hearing Du Heng say this, Wu Shengnan, who had kept her eyes closed, immediately opened them and fixed her gaze on him.

”Are you serious?” Wu Shengnan looked at Du Heng, her voice tinged with disbelief. She hoped to hear a definitive ’yes’ from him at that moment.

Du Heng nodded. ”I want to try using guasha therapy on your foot, but there are a few things I need to make clear first. Using guasha therapy can indeed activate blood and disperse stagnation. However, given the current condition of the surface of your foot, if I were to use guasha, any slip-up could damage the skin and blood vessels there.”
