This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

As Gu Ping prepared the next needle, he asked, ”Do we need to keep treating her like this?”

”Definitely not. According to my estimate, with internal and external applications, plus acupuncture and massage, it should take about two days for the blockage to dissipate. At that time, we’ll need to perform acupuncture on the acupoints to restore the function of her lower limbs.”

Upon hearing Du Heng’s words, Wu Shengnan, who had been worrying about being wronged, finally breathed a sigh of relief. Her anxiety was gone, but she felt even more aggrieved and cried out, ”Du Heng, you’re such a jerk! Did you enjoy scaring me?”

Du Heng grinned at Wu Shengnan and shamelessly replied, ”Yes, it was fun.”

”Just you wait! See how I deal with you once my leg gets better.”

”Oh, really?”

Replying softly, Du Heng then took his index finger and gently poked the wound wrapped in gauze.

”Du Heng, I’m not done with you!”

”I’m waiting.” He said, then poked it again.

Seeing Wu Shengnan almost in tears, Du Heng smiled and continued his work.

From her lower leg down to the sole of her foot, Du Heng continuously stimulated each blockage point, supplementing this with massage techniques.

However, when he reached her toes, as the first needle went in, Du Heng’s eyebrows slightly furrowed.

He had chatted and joked with Wu Shengnan not only to tease her and get a little revenge but also to keep her from overthinking. The prerequisite for all this was his confidence in the treatment.

But now, as the needle entered the skin of her toes, there was a feeling of resistance and dryness.

It’s as if my needle hasn’t pierced flesh, but a piece of rotten wood instead.

This sensation was especially pronounced on her big toe.

Du Heng took a light breath. His worst fear had materialized.

He then took a needle from Gu Ping’s hand and began checking the acupoints on the darkened part of Wu Shengnan’s lower leg, asking if she could feel anything.

Wu Shengnan, still nursing her bad temper, didn’t want to acknowledge Du Heng.

Seeing Wu Shengnan’s attitude, Du Heng didn’t indulge her. Instead, he pushed up her pant leg, already rolled to her knee, and began to palpate her thigh.

This action made Wu Shengnan’s face turn red, and she became even more nervous. ”Du Heng, what are you trying to do? You know this is harassment, right?”

The young nanny, who had been silent the whole time, also panicked. She hadn’t expected Du Heng to be so bold as to touch Wu Shengnan’s thigh in front of everyone. Startled, she quickly moved to stop him.

But Du Heng, holding the needle in his right hand, pierced the spot his left hand had just located.

”AAAAHHHH!” The aching and painful sensation made Wu Shengnan shudder and cry out, ”Du Heng, what are you doing?” As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.

Du Heng, however, nodded and quickly removed the needle. ”I was just wondering if you had any feeling,” he remarked.

Then, Du Heng started to needle the darkened part of her lower leg again. ”Do you feel anything?”

This time, Wu Shengnan didn’t dare to act stubborn and quickly said, ”Yes.”

”What does it feel like?”

”It’s a little numb and painful.”

Du Heng hmm-ed in acknowledgment and immediately adjusted the needle.

As the acupuncture stimulation moved further down her leg, Wu Shengnan’s sensations became increasingly faint. Even when Du Heng used the strong stimulation method at the KI-01 acupoint on her foot, she could barely feel any pain.

It seemed the medication administered over the past two days was gradually helping Wu Shengnan’s lower limbs regain sensation; she could feel soreness and aching. Although very subtle, this indicated that the condition of her lower limbs was improving—a good sign.

However, when it came to her toes and needling the eight wind acupoints (between each toe), she felt nothing. This was especially true for the BL-67 acupoint, where the pain sensation should have been most distinct, yet she still had no reaction.

At this, Du Heng’s previously relaxed mood soured.

As Du Heng busied himself with Wu Shengnan’s feet, she couldn’t see his expression from her position lying on the bed. However, Gu Ping, standing beside them, saw it very clearly.

Seeing Du Heng frown and stand up, Gu Ping asked with concern, ”Mr. Du, what is...”

Before he could finish speaking, Du Heng waved his hand to interrupt him and then shook his head slightly.

But Wu Shengnan was also anxious. She didn’t understand why Du Heng, who had been fine moments ago, had suddenly stopped talking and started asking her how she felt; this abruptly made her worried.

Glancing at the equally anxious young nanny beside her, Wu Shengnan quickly asked, ”Du Heng, is there a problem with my leg?”

Hearing Wu Shengnan’s question, Du Heng took a deep breath. As he turned, he put on a smile. ”No, I just wanted to test how your recovery is going.”

Wu Shengnan looked at Du Heng nervously. The sudden formality in his speech made her heart skip a beat. ”So, how am I recovering?”

”Very well, just as I expected.” Du Heng smiled again and then turned to the young nanny. ”Give me a hand. Raise the head of the bed a little, and put something under her head to elevate it slightly.”

After speaking, he turned to Gu Ping behind him. ”Prepare a five-unit fine needle and hand me the alcohol cotton.”

The young nanny obediently adjusted the bed. After Gu Ping handed over the alcohol cotton, he began to prepare the five-unit fine needle Du Heng had requested. He was curious about its purpose.

As Du Heng approached her with the alcohol cotton, Wu Shengnan became even more nervous. ”Du Heng, what are you going to do?”
